This game reminds me so much of Fantasy Star Universe, both are good and i love the character customization of fantasy star universe, only wish Final Fantasy had it as well, would be fcking epic

@Valorios That's all this game has amazing graphics if they spent half as much time on the story as they did on the graphics the game would be in my top 10 probably but no it's kicked straight into my top 50 because they were lazy i loved every game leading up to this and i got so excited then pow completed it dead at 12 hours and maxed out at 22 if anyone hates this game i don't blame them they have every right too it is missing so many qualitys

I do agree people need to get over the fact of final fantasy vii now its over. And i prefer the battle system in xiii and xiii-2 as people have said before who stands in a line and takes turns and waits to attack

Same here! It seems everyone hates it except me. I loved the game. The only thing I didn't like was that there were no summons in this one. :/ Sure it's cool we can get different monsters in our part but still. I missed the summons DX But I love the game. Even though I've beaten it I still play it XD And that goes for EVERY final fantasy game.
you can't deny that ff changed alot, and believe it or not, but there are people who like the old ones more than the new ones (X-2 +), SE turned ff into sci-fi, modern rpg's without magic..
@GuitarMarc89 yes it has changed a lot, i agree. story-wise, yes i admit that the newer games somehow dont par with the previous version of the game (FF6, the perfect example). that's modernization for you man. developers now concentrate on graphics and visuals while story takes a backseat. because now, they have the technology to make awesome looking videogames. but unlike before, (SNES days) developers concentrate on the story, because that's the only thing they can offer.

This game was short, uninspiring and forgettable. Atleast they added freeroam and NPCs this time but it still was as horrible as the first.

This game is good, but it would be better if there was a main guy and girl, like Most FF games, We want the drama, romance, some comedy and action in the story. if noel was with lightning. that would be hot.

I also enjoy FF13, although my favorites in the series belong in the Snes/PSX era. The fact that you don't like the new games doesn't mean that the games suck, it means that you don't like them. To make a long point short, if you hate the new games, build yourself a bridge, and get over it.

I really don't understand why people have to spread their hate around so much as if it will make everyone around them join in. I personally don't like Final Fantasy myself and chose to not bash on it. It's got great characters, weird monsters, and nice music, but I really don't like the battle systems (I'm more into a kingdom hearts style, which is made by the same guys). Overall I think you just have to have the mind for a game like this. I don't, but that's okay right?
@7malantron7 Last Remnant was all about creating a massive force, with each unit funtioning in it's own specific role, very rigid, and very low tolerance for error. FF13 is freeform, allowing you to change your strategy in an instant as the conditions in battle change. Where exactly is the similarity, other than the fact that both games have large character counts.
@DarrenBunt it's mainly 2 people (there are times when you get other chracters) but the 3rd party slot is reserved for monsters which you obtain through battle. Also there's basically a summary on the main menu called beginner's primer and it fills in all the information from the 1st game if you didn't play it (or if you just feel like knowing backstory)
@silvertigrex Not if you level your characters right, on my second playthrough my characters stay well above my monsters now that I know how to level properly.
Yeah that's because the monsters level up in a linear fasion while the human charrecters don't and most the time people invest in more than just one role for the charrecters.
@karvakana922 I agree, VERY well said. I read a review the other day and it said that while FFXIII-2 corrects the flaws in FFXIII, it still only used old RPG formulas, and the review said that it was a BAD thing.
Ironically, the "old" fans (or as they like to call themselves, "true" fans) want more of the old style FF's. Ironically, I fully doubt that half of them have actually even played every single old FF. They want more old, yet there's still old that they haven't touched.

played through both games and after comparison the base structure of the battle system is exactly the same. For the most part 13 is a hell a lot easier that 13-2 simply because you don't have a 3rd party member but a measly monster plus your special is no longer a summon that Ressurects or heals your party to hp while bulldozing your opponent I personally thought the summons were overpowered so its a good change and makes it more challenging though.
i dont think FF13 was the best(in my opinion) but i certainly enjoyed the hell out of it. most ppl just complain cause its not open world, big fucking deal, doesnt mean that its bad just because of that. Also to ppl who say you can just spam X and you'll be fine, you obviously never played past the beginning. that only really works at the start of the game or when your just that much stronger than the monster, past the start and battle's can get pretty tough.

Now with FFXIII-2 I guess the developers tried it again and they actually found a solution adding of monster recruiting system, but I guess the management didn't want to risk this after their problems with FFXIII. My last guess is that next FF is going to feature only one playable character + summonings/monsters.
I guess they wanted to design the battle system (as well as the story) one character only. FFXIII would have only told the story of Lightning and her experience during the Purge, but I guess the battle system featuring one character was considered as thin and the story was not really ff-like, featuring only one main character.
@Larreyftw you need to stop living in the past they won't remaking your past final fantasy even if they do it just gonna be a DLC HD Remake or DLC that you download in your console like I have in my Ps3 FF7,FF8, and soon to be FF10. is this the demo??? cuz im playing it right now and the graphics are shitty well acceptable and those are great even in my poor laptop i just want a confirmation about the difference between the FULL version graphics and the demo's.
I played the demo, and while I'm actually quite impressed with the monster recruitment system, does this mean we won't have the option to play as any other characters than Serah and Noel? It's not really a complaint, but I was kinda hoping to also be able to include other human characters (like Hope) in my battle party...?

OMFG i had the most vivid final fantasy dream the other night it was this battle song with final fantasy 13 graphics but set in a final fantasy 10 kinda world it was a city on water it looked all futuristic. Tidus, wakka, lightning, yuna, and snow were picking something up and returning to their air ship and the ran into this huge green behemoth looking monster and this epic ass battle ensued to this song.
So apparently expert = switching paradigms every two seconds. Relentless Assault would of just killed them without all this work.

awesome graphics are nice, yeah, but the game is worthless, if the game got fantastic graphics but a boring storyline (like ff12, for example).
it's not impossible to focus on graphics AND create an entertaining and stunning storyline :D

@Ass2mouth18 Actually, i found FFXII to be an excellent addition to the series, while FFX was lackluster. FF10-2 was the worst next to crystal chronicals, at least in my opinion. I also enjoy FF13, although my favorites in the series belong in the Snes/PSX era. The fact that you don't like the new games doesn't mean that the games suck, it means that you don't like them. To make a long point short, if you hate the new games, build yourself a bridge, and get over it.

I really don't understand why people have to spread their hate around so much as if it will make everyone around them join in. I personally don't like Final Fantasy myself and chose to not bash on it. It's got great characters, weird monsters, and nice music, but I really don't like the battle systems (I'm more into a kingdom hearts style, which is made by the same guys). Overall I think you just have to have the mind for a game like this. I don't, but that's okay right?

@7malantron7 Last Remnant was all about creating a massive force, with each unit funtioning in it's own specific role, very rigid, and very low tolerance for error. FF13 is freeform, allowing you to change your strategy in an instant as the conditions in battle change. Where exactly is the similarity, other than the fact that both games have large character counts.

@DarrenBunt it's mainly 2 people (there are times when you get other chracters) but the 3rd party slot is reserved for monsters which you obtain through battle. Also there's basically a summary on the main menu called beginner's primer and it fills in all the information from the 1st game if you didn't play it (or if you just feel like knowing backstory)

@karvakana922 I agree, VERY well said. I read a review the other day and it said that while FFXIII-2 corrects the flaws in FFXIII, it still only used old RPG formulas, and the review said that it was a BAD thing.
Ironically, the "old" fans (or as they like to call themselves, "true" fans) want more of the old style FF's. Ironically, I fully doubt that half of them have actually even played every single old FF. They want more old, yet there's still old that they haven't touched.

played through both games and after comparison the base structure of the battle system is exactly the same. For the most part 13 is a hell a lot easier that 13-2 simply because you don't have a 3rd party member but a measly monster plus your special is no longer a summon that Ressurects or heals your party to hp while bulldozing your opponent I personally thought the summons were overpowered so its a good change and makes it more challenging though.

i dont think FF13 was the best(in my opinion) but i certainly enjoyed the hell out of it. most ppl just complain cause its not open world, big fucking deal, doesnt mean that its bad just because of that. Also to ppl who say you can just spam X and you'll be fine, you obviously never played past the beginning. that only really works at the start of the game or when your just that much stronger than the monster, past the start and battle's can get pretty tough.

Now with FFXIII-2 I guess the developers tried it again and they actually found a solution adding of monster recruiting system, but I guess the management didn't want to risk this after their problems with FFXIII. My last guess is that next FF is going to feature only one playable character + summonings/monsters.

I guess they wanted to design the battle system (as well as the story) one character only. FFXIII would have only told the story of Lightning and her experience during the Purge, but I guess the battle system featuring one character was considered as thin and the story was not really ff-like, featuring only one main character.

I played the demo, and while I'm actually quite impressed with the monster recruitment system, does this mean we won't have the option to play as any other characters than Serah and Noel? It's not really a complaint, but I was kinda hoping to also be able to include other human characters (like Hope) in my battle party...?

She will be appearing in the vain of her FFXIII self in DLC as an optional fight in the arena. Once you beat her you can recruit her to your team like any other monster. Check it up on Google or Wiki or something before you label someone. It's not that hard, you obviously have an internet connection. Damn hypocrites... Piss off...

Still, I was hoping that we'd at least get the chance to play as the original cast from the first game if even for just one mission. Or maybe we will, who knows... SquareEnix knows lol! :O

OMFG i had the most vivid final fantasy dream the other night it was this battle song with final fantasy 13 graphics but set in a final fantasy 10 kinda world it was a city on water it looked all futuristic. Tidus, wakka, lightning, yuna, and snow were picking something up and returning to their air ship and the ran into this huge green behemoth looking monster and this epic ass battle ensued to this song.
