  • Coming to Android by the end of this year.

  • @OhGodNo666 That's your opinion dude and that's fine. I like the 360 ( i still have my PS2 but played that for 9 years before picking up a xbox bc at the time i was shopping for a new console the SKU's that the PS3 had weren't backwards compatable so i went with a 360)

  • @UltraDragonDragon I downloaded it and it's pretty fun but got boring fast bc i've only been playing the first level over and over again. Is this region locked for the Xbox 360?

  • Can we get this on PS3 please along with the black label please? :D

  • I can't honestly see the controls being as smooth as the arcade or the console ports but it still looks really sick. The Iphone controls look kinda cool with the rotating ship :p

  • This is the best game on the iPhone, 2nd is ESPGaluda iI

  • I love the Japanese :)

  • @blindfreek Get all bees, destroy the tanks before they run over the oil containers and BOOM! You're in the Hidden Route. Mind you, if you die during one of the hidden bosses, you go back to normal route.

  • 1:37 Pilot: "Uh, I feel sick..."

    1:42 "Blaaargh"

  • Release date: Aug 26th. Price: 600yen (4 days discount. Normal price is 1000yen)

  • CAAAAAAAVE YOU'RE KILLING ME ! ;A; i don't have an iPhone and i don't have any consoles to play the newer DoDonPachi or ESPgaluda games. I'm soo jealous of every iPhone owner. I'm stuck with a nokia 5230 -_-

  • I tried the demo version at CAVE matsri last weekend. It contained only two stages but I enjoyed it very much. One complaint was its sound quality. It's not stereo so doesn't sound exactly same as this teaser video. Maybe it's not biggy for most people because Espgaluda2 wasn't stereo either. Since the iPhone mode has brand new music exclusive for the iPhone, I thought CAVE should have made it stereo.

  • CAVE already submitted this to Apple. So it shouldn't be long till this actually released in the app store. And CAVE mentioned in it's official blog that another iPhone game is under development and approximately 60% is already done.

  • @japonlindo Ketsui ???? OMG

  • Comment removed

  • Espgaluda II adaptation on iPhone was excellent with tight controls. Dodonpachi Resurrection will be as good as the previous one if not better ! So keep your mouth shut.

  • Fuck, didn't finish my last comment. These ports are a good way for CAVE to bring in some money. It won't be the same as arcade or console but it should sti be fun and help out with funds. Anyway, was there a release date announced for this port?

  • 360 port is confirmed.

  • And don't try pointing out Lynch again. He's missing the point completely, much like you seem to be. No one's proposing the iPhone replace arcades and consoles, much like no one's proposing they replace movie theaters. That would be preposterous. Having movies and games on our phones is a way of supplementing our appreciation for the mediums, not changing the mediums entirely.

  • Daifukkatsu announced for 360. You jerks can stop bitching now.

  • Anyone who insists these fantastic shmups are ruined on an iPhone (I'm looking at you, capnpayne) very clearly has not played the Espgaluda II port already on the iPhone.

The sprites look unbelievably crisp and animate consistently smoothly on the small screen, and sound quality is stellar from earbuds.

And here's the part that will get me flamed to hell and back: the controls are perfect, and, I dare say, better than a joystick. The touch controls allow pixel-perfect adjustments.

  • @twitchyphilosopher I've played the iPhone port -- I'm not arguing as to whether or not it was competently done. I'm arguing that it's the completely wrong platform for this type of game.

  • @capnpayne

I beg to differ. I personally believe the touch controls and portability suit the game's nature exceedingly well. I fail to see how the experience is "ruined" by the iPhone's capabilities.

Don't think I wouldn't like a console version -- I'd love it. But I also love having the games on my iPod, and believe they belong on the platform just as much as they belong on a console or in an arcade.

  • Looks great. I'm so glad I live in Tokyo. Gonna try this game in the CAVE festival this weekend.

  • I'm sure this will result in more 360 ports, like Deathsmiles. Right Cave? RIGHT?

Also, I HOPE I'M THE FIRST ONE TO UPLOAD THE NEW OST

  • @OmgSuiseiseki Your subscription to 'OmgSuiseiseki' has been added.

  • Now I need an iThing. Well, I need it since ESPGaluda II.

  • fuck you cave

  • now i just need an iphone

  • I'm so happy to see games like this making a come back. Thanks CAVE!!!

  • Dear Cave: please stop wasting time and effort on cellphone games. They are awful, with terrible controls. Need more proper console ports and original titles instead.

  • @PSUkbit Try playing Espgaluda II before you bitch about this one. iPhone controls and cellphone controls are two VERY different things.

  • @Arglactable Search for "David Lynch iphone" on YouTube.

  • @capnpayne Wow. Really? An old man who can't adjust to the times, grumbling about people not fully experiencing FULL LENGTH FILMS by watching them on their phones? Get real. Obviously, the iPhone version will be a different experience, but it's not a bad one. Not everyone has a great arcade setup at home. Not to mention the fact that your average play session would likely be around 20 minutes as opposed to the hour and a half of a feature film. It's perfectly suited to playing on the go.

  • @Arglactable You don't know who David Lynch is, do you? Anyway, that's beside the point. Obviously, you're happy playing these ports on the iPhone and I'm not, and we're not going to get anywhere here.

  • @capnpayne I understand the idea of movies as an art form and of course, by extension games as an art form (there's no question that pretty much all of Cave's games are works of art). The arcade is one mode of experiencing their art and I think that their move to the iPhone will serve as simply another medium for that. It's like paint vs. pixel art. Whether or not it's the best possible way to present the game, I think that it's easily worth any downside to bring their art to a wider audience.

  • But, really, we're obviously both big fans of their games, and I can definitely see your point. I just think it's unfair to write off their choice to move their games to a more portable medium just because it doesn't entirely live up to the original experience in your eyes. I, for one, would love to be able to experience it in that manner, but in my current position, it's not a possibility. The option to experience their games faithfully ported to my iPod is fantastic for me.

  • @Arglactable It's still getting the scraps of a really meaty experience. I'd rather not play it then play it on an iPhone. It's already enough of a concession to play it on a console instead of an actual cabinet. Oh well.

  • @capnpayne Wow, OK, before, I thought you were correct to a certain extent, but I now see you're a close-minded dolt.

  • @twitchyphilosopher Very compelling argument you've got there,

  • @capnpayne Oh, shall I expand? Firstly, you say it's "already enough of a concession to play it on consoles" as though consoles are somehow below arcades. You're very clearly a purist who won't accept that the medium they appreciate is evolving. Secondly, the only argument you've had for the insufficiency of the iPhone platform is that the tiny screen looks bad and the audio sounds poor, which is out-and-out incorrect.

  • @twitchyphilosopher CAVE's shmup releases are as through-and-through arcade titles as they come. So, any other form of delivery is, by definition, a distortion of the original. At least on a console, you'll play on a full-sized screen, with an arcade stick, and without headphones -- there, I find the difference (apart from the lack of an arcade atmosphere) almost forgettable.

  • @twitchyphilosopher I'm not arguing that the iPod has a bad screen. I'm arguing that it's a tiny screen, compared to a ~26 inch arcade monitor rotated on its side. Also, the speakers are useless, unless you use headphones. This means that you're playing a game that normally covers most of your field of vision and booms into your eardrums with something in the palm of your hand with earbuds stuck in your ears.

  • @twitchyphilosopher Not every development and every port has to be seen as a positive one, regardless of how competently it's done. You need to understand that it's perfectly reasonable for me to dislike the idea of this port, as it is reasonable for you to like it. I'm not a crazy person.

  • @capnpayne Well, you do have me there. You're just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. I just find it rather unbelievable that you think the iPhone ports "ruin" the games. It seems like heinous hyperbole.

  • @PSUkbit 360 Port is confirmed. All you need to do is import the game for around $110 with shipping and to buy a Japanese 360. I suggest you take what you can get for the time being unless you're a hardcore fan with all the gear to play the 360 port.

  • it's amazing how many stupid "fans" exist out there... thank you for this Cave and please don't listen to these people...

PS and of course the same guys are going to be posting about how much they love Cave when they announce their next 360 port... which of course this iPhone release is going to help fund! ignorant, mindless idiots!

  • Also, to all the haters: probably the 360 port is coming, so no big deal.

Also, what the hell? What would you prefer, a 360 port which could spell financial disaster for Cave and them going out of business or them pushing out 360 and iPhone releases, surviving AND PRODUCING NEW SHOOTERS?

Stop being childish/elitists/whatever and just enjoy the damn game!

  • Arcade conversion + new iPhone mode + tight controls + taking down that Longhena bastard = ME WANNA!!!

I don't care what purists say, this is just great! While we wait for the 360 port to be announced at the next CAVE Matsuri, I'm going to salivate on this trailer for a bit longer.

Okay screw that, give it to us NOW, you heard me IKD-san?

  • Looks fantastic guys, really can't wait for this (though I probably won't be playing this until the new year so I can get a compatible iDevice). Definitely will buy. Great stuff, keep it up!

  • Hey if you want Cave to work FOR you not AGAINST you maybe you should leave the negativity towards their current projects off of public media. Just sayin'.

Deathsmiles just came here. DoDonPachi is next. Don't be silly, relax.

  • @ctdjazz This is the only wise comment out of all the others.

  • This plus a Xbox 360 port would be ace. Not digging the new music.

  • Goddamnit Cave, quit shafting your Western fans and give us some ports or something, how hard can it be. This absolutely doesn't count for like 3 reasons

  • I would like a 360 port too, please!

Also, some of the comments here are very stupid and childish. In Japan phones are used so much, this makes sense and could be a good source of money for CAVE. Don't act like idiots, post politely about how a 360 port is needed, don't just "hurrrr fuck this."

  • 360 port. fvck this iphone sh!t

  • OK, has any of the naysayers actually PLAYED ESPGaluda II on the iPhone? It is fantastic and almost perfect for quick on the go sessions and the controls with the touch screen for ship movement are super precise. The only slight fail was somewhat ease of missing buttons for shield, shot change, ect because of the lack of tactile response, but it seems they improved the layout to compensate.

  • @3of19

People used to to wonder how the hell I could play on a tiny 15 inch monitor and now its ok to play on a phone screen.

  • @3of19 they're dead set on pushing it on apple shit before anything else

    just stupid ass shit

  • I want the real Xbox 360 version, I cant play these games on a freaking telephone.

  • If this was released alongside a proper port, I'd be just fine with it. But taken alone, it's no substitute for the real thing.

  • XBOX 360 port - PLEASE - Cave

  • 0:50 to 1:30 is a pure aural suger rush

  • hey yall lets release substantial games exclusively/first on mp3 players and apple cellphones because those are worthwhile "gaming platformers" *gets fucked by niggers*

  • It's unbelievable tiny screens are getting this before real video games.

    Get real, Cave.

  • Seriously, fuck you cave :/

  • Can't wait to pick this up from the app store, WOO!

  • fuck you cave

  • great game shite platform

  • HYPER CANNON!!!!!!

  • Port Black Label to 360.

  • Cave, please release this on the PC, even if it's through Steam. I want to be able to play this on a machine that's not limited like on a console or a portable device.

  • @JBGUY2K i rofl'd

  • @sibbie1023 T_T

  • @JBGUY2K

Download MAME, you can find the original arcade dodonpachi

  • @JBGUY2K Actually, the touch control is pretty good when you get used to it. Allows for very precise dodging of shots! ;-)

  • @JBGUY2K

    ...console are not limited lol!

  • Beautiful graphics and great music reduced to a tiny little screen and tinny little speakers. Release region-free console ports and release your games on PC, but for the love of God, do not release them on the iPhone. You've ruined the experience of playing your own best games.

  • @capnpayne buy an ipad?

  • @capnpayne Have you played Espgaluda II for iPhone? It is seriously one of the most impressive shmup experiences I've ever had in terms of game-play, amazing performance on the system, and precision controls. If you haven't, you don't have any idea what you're talking about and if you have, I would honestly have to ask you what your deal is.

  • @Arglactable I have. It made an intense game into a little timewaster. Have you played any shmup on a full-sized tated monitor, with the sound blasting on actual arcade input gear?

  • @capnpayne

People seem to think these games are little time wasters that you just play for 20 minutes.

  • @capnpayne Obviously the arcade experience is usually going to be better, but in the end, the iPhone port is basically the same game. The game-play remains essentially the intact and the ability to play an amazing shmup pretty much anywhere makes it more than worth it. The fact that the iPhone port can also appeal to non-hardcore shmup players in no way demeans the game itself. How does its presence on the iPhone make it a "time waster?"

  • Ok, it looks amazing. Can we have it now please? ^_^

Oh yeah, and hope the extra stuffs makes it to the 360 version!

  • I wish I had an iPhone... Crappy cellphone contracts...

  • 360 port please and while you're at it, consider also a pal-version.

  • The iPhone 4 is a DAMN BEAST. Espgaluda 2 spoiled me. This might just take the cake, though. These guys develop their asses off.

  • Looking very forward to this one!

  • Xbox360, port please!

  • This looks pretty cool for a iphone version but I want a 360 port..

  • 360 port please.

  • Another vote for 360 port!

  • neeeeedddd!!!!! Now we want a release date^^

  • That's neat, but we really need a 360 version.

  • @Vespene There is a 360 version coming.......Comon people do your research! november 25 in japan. Good lluck getting this in the states though, the US isn't a huge fan of Manic shmups

  • I just hope this works on iPod Touch 2nd gens, unlike ESPGaluda 2 :C

  • @WTSnacks It's only for Iphone 3GS/4 and Ipod Touch 3G

  • This trailer was clearly made with a lot of love. Rock on, CAVE. =D
