  • I am glad she did not choose basketball just because she is tall. When is society going to understand that every tall woman does have to be a basketball player! She did not want a career where she is constantly sweating, running up and down an athletic court! Instead, she wanted to look glamorous, be sophisticated and jazzy, so, she chose singing!

  • AWESOME!

  • I still cannot believe that after all these years, a complete video of this performance has never surfaced. Sigh...

  • my beautiful sister is resting now but she will never be forgotten and one day we will all meet her on the moon. Her spirit till stands tall. Love you Phyllis always.

  • I know so many phyllis hyman songs and could never even choose one, but this is the ONE song that I don't understand why it's so well liked. I don't know, maybe it will sneak up on me one day.

  • She was so beautiful. Why did u leave us ? Didn't you know how much we loved you?

  • Sadly missed... a wonderful performer :-(.... May she find the peace she longed for in life. Thanks for uploading this video.

  • This clip is everything!!!!!!

  • I actually feel a little sad for the younger generation today because they are not being exposed at all to true, raw, NON-autotuned vocal talent, such as was possessed by the late, great Phyllis Hyman. I mean, come on - do you hear the passion and soulfulness in her voice? Name me one current (not an 'old school' artist like Mary J. Blige who is still recording - CURRENT) R&B female artist that can vocalize even CLOSE to Phyllis Hyman? Hmmm...didn't think so.

  • !!!!!!!!!! JUS BEUTIFUL... BEUTIFUL VOICE, PERSONALITY WAS JUS BEUTIFUL .. .JUS WISH THAT SHE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SHE WAS BEUTIFUL TOOOOOO

  • Loved her. Hate she had to go like that.

  • wow can clearly say hands down next to gladys was her, i mean look at the passion

  • My God how I love hearing her perform this song. A voice that is rich and pure. She is a voice that is truly missed.

  • When was this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I cry every time I watch this.... She sings with soooooo much emotion, u can feel it. Wow

  • He voice omg she gave her all and all in her performances and held nothing back.I have nothing but love and respect for her.RIP Miss Phyllis

  • This was one of her last live performances if not THE last. Those of us who followed her and adored her will see in this video that she was slowly dying from a broken heart and substance abuse. It's written all over her face and those sad eyes. How I wish she was still with us...

  • Saw her many times ...when I watch this it just brings tears....speechless...

  • There has to be a full version out there somewhere. I fell in love with Ms. Hyman's beautiful voice 30 something years ago. She is simply the best vocalist I have ever heard. I miss her and all the music we were cheated out of . Rest in peace Phyllis, you are truly missed.

  • MISS YOU GURL!!! What a LOSS!!!! WHY??????

  • this song makes me want to slap somebody! I miss phyllis

  • This song is one of so many of songs that express what she is really feeling inside. When she gets into a song with deep emotions watch out because you know the feeling are real.

  • All I can say is Thank you.

    Meisha Moore

  • Damn. She grew up only several miles from me,

    in Pittsburgh.

  • First time listening to PH. What a true talent.

    Too sad...

  • This is such a tease! Great video though!

  • It is a tease! I love the last part of this song when it breaks down with "Meet me..."

This song makes me cry everytime. One of the most beautiful songs ever!

  • How simply beautiful. Ms. Hyman's music is timeless and still stands the test of time. I can listen to her music over and over as if it is the first time that I have heard it.

  • This song of Phyllis is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love them all, but this particular song holds a special place in my heart for various reasons personal. Meet me on the moon Phyllis. God bless you girl, I love you. irvinbean123

  • my favorite song of her too.U should listen to the record version is AMAZING!!!! ,its going to blew u away.....

  • can you feel it? yes I can

  • I heard Patti Labelle say that Phyllis had the most beautiful voice she had ever heard. I think that says it all, right there. If one of the greatest vocalist of the last century says that about Phyllis, then it must be true. Phyllis is the only female singer, second to Patti, who takes me thru the ENTIRE range of human emotion. Thats why I adore her. I think Phyllis knew that she was "goin away" as she sang this. This song has so much irony in it, its scarey..

  • More importantly, the truly legendary Ms. Nancy Wilson commented "I never really listened to the lyrics, it was the voice, the pipes". Something that you all should pay attention to. Phyllis had many, many "happy" songs. Like Ms. Wilson, I knew Phyllis for her voice as well. Laching on to this co-dependency pseudo affiliation with Phyllis via your depression is very self destructive. Hell, maybe it caused her demise.

  • @killerjoebenson listen to the lyrics too much and you'll end up taking your life..

  • not me.

  • Such a BEAUTIFUL woman! She looks like my mother so much its crazy. Its amazing how back then vocalists possessed true raw talent..un-processed, no effects; she sounds just like the record. Nowadays the radio is full of processing. Phyllis will forever be missed, I was 11 when she died, and I remember asking why? but even at that age, I understood the overwhelming sadness in her voice. I wish she was still here with us. :(

  • So beautiful inside and out. Her voice was unreal, not many can pull that off. It came so natural to her but you can see the sadness in her eyes....

  • Listening to this brought tears to my eyes. It's so sad how she ended her life the way she did. RIP Baby Girl!

  • I've seen various clips of this performance, at different lengths and recorded from different airings, but none of them were ever complete. :c(

  • BEAUTIFUL SOUL

  • I miss her a lot...I have always been drawn to her talent. There are not many like her... RIP....a fan for life...my life , it did not stop with yours babe!

  • She is awesome and knew it.

  • Magnificent performer, thanks for posting!

  • Phyllis Hyman: WOW!!! what a voice, the lyrics, the melody what more can you say. She sang so beautifully. Her song voice got me through college back in the 80's and 90's. And now my children love to her Miss Phyllis too. May God be with you. You are never forgotten in my eyes. Love Ya Phyllis and your voice will live on.

  • AWESOME VOICE!

  • my God she touched my suol with her talent, beauty ahd history,we miss u so much!!!!

  • how old was she right here? i dont know im a young buck.

  • She was 43 here.

  • to a4ur8 thanks for info wow she didnt look like she was no were near 40.

  • Phyllis was truly a beautiful woman to look at. Although this clip was after she had gained a lot of weight and was heavily abusing alcohol/drugs, she STILL manages to look soooooo damn pretty! NOTHING could take away her beauty! Wow! Love ya Phyllis!

  • could you do a kareoke one?

  • thanks brownboykb.

  • Whoa, her voice is so soothing, she sounds just like her recordings........What an amazing singer.

  • hey guys i dont have the fullclip sorry if it made available i will post it

  • Do you know what year this was recorded in?

  • in 1992..i read it in her biography. this was part of a christmas special on BET

  • Man, where do you find these clips? That voice of hers is unmistakably and unshakably strong. so sensual. She just lures you in and holds you there. I wish I could have seen her in concert, I'm sure it was unforgetable. I can't get enough watching her video clips, that's as close as I will ever come. Her music lives on with her. I've got my grandchildren listening to her in the car and now they sing along to the CD's. New Phyllis generation.

  • @brownboykb for full clip search "Phyllis Hyman and many other great women of song"

  • Thanks for that clip...Please give us the full version, that was a tease. I was just getting into it..,

  • Do you have the rest of this performance? I've seen another clip that had an announcer speaking over much of what's here but had more of the song after where this clip cuts off. She really started belting it out...
