  • this horse is not a 1 turn miler, u have it so wrong.

  • this hanson is a one turn miler at best. Sorry just my honest opinion.

  • JUVENILE CHAMPION!

  • races, because you rarely go beyond a mile. With the BC Juvenile being one of the obvious exceptions. But once you get on the Derby trail, and the prep races start stretching out to 1-1/8, Hansen's running style that he's used up until now just won't work, IMO. You try to bolt from the gate and go pillar to post in something the Florida, Arkansas, or Louisiana Derby the way Hansen did in the BC Juvenile, and he'll be cooked by the time he hits the stretch. TJMO.

  • Hansen and Union Rags are both 2 terrific looking young colt's that the sky looks to be the limit for. Frankly though, I like Union Rags chances of squaring the ledger wit Hansen assuming they meet somewhere down the line in one of the Derby Preps before they go to CD in May? I don't envy the task that Michael Maker has with Hansen, because he's gonna have to teach this colt to sit back and rate behind speed. You can get by with bolting from the gate and going full bore for home in juvenile>>>

  • If these same horses are in the 2012 Derby I would keep an eye on Dullahan. This horse was near the back the whole way and got thru traffic to finish 4th. The Derby might just give him enough room to catch the top 3 especially if he's a bit closer to the pace. If there is an upset it would be him.

  • I was at the finish line and this was the best race of the two days. What a finish!! Union Rags was 3 and 4 wide the whole way and in my opinion a better horse than Hansen. We'll see how Hansen handles the extra distance next year. If he continues to go wire-to-wire he won't win any of the triple crown legs. Union Rags is a monster and his running style suits him perfect to be a great 3 year old. But how many two years old's fail at 3? Time will only tell.

  • THE END WAS SO NERVE RACKING!!!!

  • Union Rags could have gone by him, Hansen just won't let anyone by him. Union had it clear from the QUARTER POLE and had a ton of time to run Hansen down. But he didn't.

    The best horse won.

  • Hansen made me a lot of money on Saturday. I bet him W/P & then boxed him, Union Rags, & Alpha on the exacta. That little gray horse is FAST!!!!!

  • * Majestic

Also, lets not forgot about another colt that was not even in this race who was supposed to have tremendous upside and drew a lot of accolades from people until he was sidelined for the year by injury or sickness and that was Overdriven..

  • @buckywaters

    Its Take Charge Indy.

Union rags had every chance to go by Hansen on a track that wasnt favoring the rail or speed. Almost every BC winner closed from the outside in the middle of the track. Union Rags is a nice albeit green colt that has a ton of potential, but Hansen dug in and never gave up to the pressure of two very nice colts running him down. Give credit where credit is due.

Its easy to call a winner in hindsight.

  • @nathanhyland

    hahaha.... I like it!!!

I agree. Union Rags was pretty much right there at the quarter pole but just couldn't get it done... Both are really good colts as well as Creative Cause.... From what I've seen over the last two months these are probably gonna be your early favorites for the K.D.... Drill and Magestic City are overrated in my eyes although the latter horse ran in the other juvenile race. We'll see if Dullahan can get any better.

  • TAKE CHARGE LADY horse to watch next year guys, trouble chanbging leads ran on for 4th was really cranking up, this horse might end upo bening my derby horse.

  • @buckywaters : naming FAIL!

  • @buckywaters WTF its take charge indy moron.. and Dullahan finished 4th. get your facts straight faggot

  • hansen ran his ass off! but all i heard on that degenerat tvg was how the 2nd place horse was much better.

  • @rawjc thats because given his trip he ran about 100 feet further add it up. 6wide then 6 wide. you should bet all your money on hanson in the gotham. if he runs in the derby he doesnt beet 5 horses home.

  • @luminatedgame yes i realize that fact, just didn't think they gave hansen enough credit, almost like they were at the point of disrespect . also its not like they were walking out there, hansen set respectable fractions and did all the work, and dug in gamly when asked.

  • @hexiconned - You're right, it looks like Union Rags drifted a little to the right on that straightaway to the finish line.

  • This colt has proved me wrong twice, but at least this time I put money on him! :D Next year is shaping up nicely. Can't wait to see these three at Churchill again in May!

  • Proved me dead wrong this colt... Can´t wait for the 3-year old season!

  • I think we are going to see great things from Hansen next year....

  • Wasn't it determined that Union Rags had an injury...something to do with his sesimoid? (sp?)

  • For Union Rags to run second with a trip like that was spectacular. Not to take anything from Hansen, but imo Union Rags could have won pretty easily. That's racing!

  • Hansen got it done nicely here, but when Union Rags learns to run straight he will be tough.
