Yeah but then I remember seeing the 3 Stooges in concert twice in Canada in the mid sixties in which Moe told kids not to poke each other in the eyes like they saw in their movies as it had caused some kids to go blind as their friends poked them in the eyes way too hard. Also assumeing that kids hitting other kids over the head with chairs, boards and so on must have hurt some kids down the road. I don't know when this piece was filmed but I know what I heard
I've never really got into the Stooges until I was a teenager. As a kid, I enjoyed Abbott and Costello more. The funny thing about those two is that much of their comedy was based on Abbott or someone else working over Costello (such as slapping him), yet nobody seemed to complain about that.
I started to get teary-eyed watching this. I've loved the stooges as long as I can remember, some of my earliest and best memories are of watching these guys with my dad, and laughing until we cried. It's a damn shame they never really got the recognition and pay they deserved.

The stooges were criticized for influencing kids in the wrong way with all their silly antics And look at all the crap on TV, radio, internet today with sex and violence...someone owes them a big apology!
@esbeesue ... An absolutely excellent point! As I learned from another video featuring Moe, there used to be virtually zero negative commentary regarding the antics we know from The Stooges. Even children understood the stunts were for entertainment and not to be imitated. But today, many despicable characters are portrayed in a positive light and today's youth AND young adults find negative behavior to emulate. Yes, we were better off with our beloved Stooges. They ARE owed an apology!!
Got my picture taken with the 3 Stooges when I was about 10 years old along with my brother, sister and Mom. Still have the picture. What a great memory!
No more talk shows like this. You actually learn something about the person being interviewed. It's not just a vehicle for the host. That what was great about Mike. He didn't take center stage. Leno, Conan, and the rest could learn something from Mike.
I grew up watching the Three Stooges on T.V. I was about 7 when Moe did this interview. I think it would have been great to sit in a room and listen to him tell stories!!!!
I met Moe when I was 11 years old and went to his home in the Hollywood hills. I had written him several letters and he always responded and finally invited my mother and me to his home.
He was the sweetest, most lovely man I have ever met. A true gentleman and so funny and humble.
I was lucky in a way to have grown up in Los Angeles in the '60's and 70's because it was safe for entertainers to meet with us. It is nice that you were old enough to have a good memory. Did you guys take photos?
My wife baby sat Moe Howard's children in New Canaan, Ct. when she was younger. She said he was the sweetest, nicest man you would ever want to meet. Very quiet, she said, exactly the opposite of what you would expect. Since that time, she loved that man. It was exciting for her, but he put her at ease and she loved him for it. True story.
Poor Moe should never have listened to the voices demanding he tone down his work.
The best "Stooge" bits were the early material. The further away from slap stick they got, the worse the result.
At their best nothing is funnier.

The stooges were criticized for influencing kids in the wrong way with all their silly antics And look at all the crap on TV, radio, internet today with sex and violence...someone owes them a big apology!
esbeesue 1 year ago

Ulysses61 2 years ago 2
I was lucky in a way to have grown up in Los Angeles in the '60's and 70's because it was safe for entertainers to meet with us. It is nice that you were old enough to have a good memory. Did you guys take photos?
ekocentric 2 years ago
My wife baby sat Moe Howard's children in New Canaan, Ct. when she was younger. She said he was the sweetest, nicest man you would ever want to meet. Very quiet, she said, exactly the opposite of what you would expect. Since that time, she loved that man. It was exciting for her, but he put her at ease and she loved him for it. True story.
