  • MPC 500 is going into logic 9 through the tascam us 122.

Is there a way to use it to trigger the VST instruments in logic through the pads in the MPC or even use the pads of the MPC to trigger the MPC's data?

  • hey i use digi desing rack and i get a bit of delay

  • wow did any 1 else notice the dream street poster on the wall? haha dream street for lyfe .. haha duesh

  • @Bosmato It's not a poster..its a Gold record (500,000 in sales). I wrote one of the songs on that album.

  • Fuckin respond back already!!!!!!!

  • @kingkongo420 Hey, Crazy production schedule..what can I help you with?

  • Ey I have my MPC 2000xl set up as a midi controller to logic but the pads on my mpc are not in sequential order. How can i get the pads to be in order? Please help me, i've been stuck for months.

    Thanks

  • OK, So what do you have to do to transfer the audio notes to logic, bad video!!!!! you have to be more specific dude

  • @ma8t0n U dont transfer notes to logic. I showed you how to sync the mpc via midi you still have to record out the mpc into logic through your audio cables as audio. I explained that lol.

  • i do this, but when i hit play in logic, the logic quantize works, but i lose the mpc quantize.

  • hey bro, thanks for the teachings. i'm working an mpk88, and its the pads that i have an issue with. i have 16 pads and whenever i try to use the pads with EXS24 instruments, the top 4 pads (P13 to P16) repeat the exact same sample as P12. do you have any wisdom to pass down to a fella? i've searched and posted on threads and haven't found any answers or solutions. please help if you can man!

    peace

  • i love u no homo.. but i was hoping it would atleast be the 1000 then i saw 500 and was like HURRAAAYYYYYYY! and yeah you can use it as a controller (well atleast on ableton) you have to set the track on the mpc as MIDI but u have to set all the pads to be in key. if u need anymore help ill try my best if u message me.

  • You have to get a duet it will solve all problems.

  • but can Logic be the SLAVE?

  • Using an mpc500 and Logic Express 9. made a sampled beat using the mpc, now want to record this beat into logic. Got the mpc connected to a Tascam US-144 MKII interface, but logic doesn't seem to be picking anything up. Can anyone help? thanks.

  • If you have a midi out it can be used as a controller

  • also midi sync and MMC are two different things

MPC 500 doesnt have MMC...it cant have things slave to it.

  • i'm using just an mpc at the moment and thinking of getting logic. Could i make beats on logic, then sample on the mpc and then put these samples into logic, on top of the beats i've made? hope that makes sense, thanks

  • yeah you can do that but it seems like an extra step, why would you put the sample u took from logic and put back on the same beat

  • no i mean like sample something completely different, like some vocals from another song for instance, and then put them back into logic?

  • A few things. If you want to use your mpc as a controller on my 4K all you have to do is go to the midi routing page and set the drum pad destination to "midi out". Getting logic to start the mpc has never been an issue. Getting the mpc to sync to your logic sequence has always been a nightmare. Try setting up logic as a sound module and sequence everything in the mpc.

  • whats the name of the song on the beginning

  • Nice, I've been watching your video tutorials. I have been using Digital Performer and AudioDesk for a few years, I just started using Logic, everyone told me it didn't have MMC, but it sure does! I followed your steps with my MPC and it synced, it's working - however when I hit record or play it repeats the first measure/bar over and over. Probably something simple, maybe someone can help. I am new to this software. Thanks in advance.

  • why dont you just connect the mpc to the computer via usb i dont get this ..

(mpc 500 has a usb shit no ?)

  • The USB port on the MPC 500 is ONLY for transferring sounds/backing up programs, etc.. There is no MIDI functionality over the USB port.

  • awsome vid i've been wondering how this could be accomplished, thanks man

  • do you get seperate tracks with this? or is wverything dumped as a single tracked?

  • nice dreamstreet album on the wall lol

  • Just 1 of many many. But Thanks lol.

  • hi mate, is it possible to save on the mpcs memory the logic sounds and take them live without a computer? and control them with a midi keyboard? i wanna carry some strings and choirs from logic and mtron live without having to take my laptop...can my mpc do this? and control them with a keyboard...even if i only have 32 two notes total...

  • Its a sampler dude. You can save any sound to it.

Record the sound in Logic (same BPM) and transfer to mpc via WAV.

    or

Sample the sound with your MPC

  • You would have to sample them and save them to the mpc or save the .wav files from your Logic instrument on your hard drive and then drag them to the MPC via USB.

  • Cheers mate, that helped alot. Was having difficulties, finally solved.

  • is this a joke?

  • I dont know. Do you hear anyone laughing?

  • Mig, I don't know about any of the other MPCs, but I use the 1000 as a controller all the time.

  • I think they are a little different in their functioning although I dont spend much time with the MPC so I'm definitely not an "expert" on MPC's.

  • ok I don't use a 500 as I'm an xl user but I would highly doubt that your info on here is correct. all you need to do to use an mpc as a midi controller is set the track your on to midi and then the midi channel (i.e. midi 1a) and you can sync the mpc as a slave to logic with midi clock (don't use mtc as it doesn't work well in my exp.)

  • hands down the easiest way to synch the mpc to logic...and trust me this is pretty hard if you do not follow what he said and you do not have what he has....i went in thinking the mpc would just work amazing with logic but logic had another thing comming for me...just make shure you buy 4 audio cables or at least 4 (you might just use two because your using the mpc as the main thing) and about 6-8 midi cables (good to have them around and you might end up using them depending on the instruments)

  • As i said below thanks a lot. But having just seen the video demo of the new Akai Apc, i'm not so sure if i'll be keeping my 2.5k and logic. I'd be curious to know what others think of it. I can't post links here, but 'google' ableton live touch. i'm blown away...

  • si si si ... live and akai have blown everyone away!

  • cool man. Thanks.

  • Yo man insightful video..i got tha mac and the 500 so this is killer..i just dont get how composing works concerning mpc and logic can you show how you go about using the mpc with logic..

  • I have an mpc 2000xl and i need to sync it to logic but don't know how. PLEASE show how to sync it to logic b/c i want to burn the audio to a cd Could u PLEASE SHOW that, i don't understand setting it to slave

  • I'm not skilled with the MPC 2000xl so I wouldn't be the person to show you. Sorry. Wish I could help.

  • Do you need two midi cords to do this? anyone do this on a mpc 2000xl .

  • ok i understand the mpc is being a slave. But....on the sync in screen should it be on midi time code with the receive mmc: on? and sync out mode, ...what mode? midi time code and send mmc should be on or off? im using the mpc 2000xl

  • Yo download the template for usins Logic as a sound module

and you can sequence Logic from the Mpc...Yes it realy works and it works wit Logic Express.............Mpc 500

i'm posting the vid on Friday

  • i just buy my mpc 2 day ago i i read the manual but iam still dont understand do i have to erace my pad to record my own drum loops or what

  • i record a sample but it plays slow so how do i get to back to speed

  • Sorry..I dont understand. You record a sample from where to where and play it back how?

  • hey man i got a question. which computer are you using? Cause i want to change to logic, but i got a windows computer, so now i want to buy a mac. But don't know if the ,,imac'' is good for logic.

  • Any new Intel MAC is perfect for Logic. I have a simple white Macbook which I do these videos on and I also have a MacPro Tower.

  • I followed this video but I'm still having some issues. I have the mpc 2500 and Logic 7 pro. I can trigger my sequence that I have in the mpc via logic but when i record there is no sound recorded into logic. I can here it while is recording but no physical sounds gets recorded into logic. Maybe Im doing this just all wrong lol Can you help me mig?

  • Migs - great videos - learning alot, but I am experiencing a problem that maybe you can help me with:

Logic is master and MPC is slave. I created a beat and started recording in Logic. After track is layed, the beat doesn't start at the beginning of the beat, but instead for some reason it cuts off the very first part of the first drum/bass beat, almost like a few milliseconds of the beginning. Can you help?

  • What screen capture and video editor did you use to do this video?

  • BTW long ass midi cables cause latency... Try to keep it under 6ft..

  • Finally a video on the mpc and logic getting synched.. You'd think someone would have made one by now..

Good looking out Migs.. now we need another tut/vid on how to get the Audio outs synched to your interface..

  • anything with midi can be used as a control.

  • you dont anything else.

  • well even this doesnt work for me,what a nightmare.i can control my mpc using logic but when i record it into an audio track in logic i just get a really loud buzzing sound coming through

  • Thats not a Logic issue ..thats your sound card. You're getting feedback loop because you are not only listening to the mpc going into the audio track but you are also listening to it twice because its playing back on the same track through logic. Just mute the track as you're recording, then unmute after you finished recording . Also adjust your input signal on your audio interface if you have one.

  • how to basically use logic as a sound module an the mpc as the sequencer people are doing it but not really explaining it

  • Just to let you know I picked up Logic 8 it works fine with the MPC1K and JJ OS. Play logic sounds with MPC, sequence it in the MPC and then track out the midi into Logic for finalizing.

  • how to sequence with a mpc2000xl

  • This video is just to show you how to connect and lock up the mpc 500 to Logic.

What is it that you want to to learn? I'll try and do a video.

  • u should check out producer needlz video on here he sequences from the mpc 4000 with logic im trying to see if i could figure it out

  • What is it you're tryin to figure out?

  • Yeah...I was tellin him I didnt want to let go of my Yamaha RY30 and want to trigger EXS24 samples with it. He just showed me that he had two MIDI cables going out of his Motif ES8 and the MPC into his USB MIDI interface, then the USB to Logic...was able to trigger EXS24 samples from the Motif and the MPC2500. I thought about getting the MPD24, but opted to try my RY30 to do the same....thanks again.

  • thanks a lot man your an absolute legend sorry to be a pain in the arse

  • Did it work for you?
