  • MrJp, my father was also a pilot and instructor at RAFB in the early 40s flying PT-19, PT-17, and the T-6. He then went on to instructor glider pilot training. I need to digitize all of his photos from those years.

  • Looks like she was struggling to start.....

  • I live in Deer Park near Republic, take my Atlantic City plane from there... my dad flew a A6-T at Randolph Field Tx. in1941-42....Would love to go for a ride......Please !!!!!!Got pics of dad and his plane, maybe the same one!?!?

  • What I liked best of this airport was on the west side of the runway. The 56th Fighter group Restaurant. I don't know if it still exists still but years ago I ate there a lot when I lived in the States. The entire place is/was decked out like an army air corps, front line airfield HQ. Complete with sand bags,Jeeps, bunkers and motif of WWII. As you ate to early 40's music, you had a perfect view of all the aircraft activity landing and taking off from Republic field. Oh, Great Food too!

  • Republic Airport is a Bullshit Airport. It should be shut down an the land developed into something wirthwhile that will generate Jobs and Tax Revenue for teh local communities and for the State.

All General Aviation and Commercial Aviation Traffic that niormally uses Republic apt can be operated out of nearby Mac'Arthur Airport 20 miles away.

Since the Airline Industry is hurting, the larger commercial jets that use Republic anyway ( which isn't a lot ) can be cut in capacity.

  • @Roadracer987654321 Airports create and maintain high paying jobs. Not to mention, huge corporations fly in and out of KFRG because they have offices right on ROUTE 110. Finally Farmingdale is an 'bitness' down. Route 110 is filled with all kinds of businesses from Fortune 500 to little Mom and Pops. The extra 'land' that farmindale uses won't help that economy at all.

  • Radial engines sound so beautiful. Great video thanks!

  • Is this republic off 110 on Long Island? I thought it was shut down...

  • You got the location right but shut down? Never! It's the third busiest airport in New York state...

  • ,,,agree!

  • How much would it cost to get a flight with that pilot of the T-6?

  • $250.00, I'm gonna fly on it soon.
