this was by far my favorite star trek. i'm not a star trek fanboy and never did just automatically agree that the original series was the best. i've watched the original series and in my opinion it was the worst
God I love the 90's, really was a wonderful decade, and even though it's a clichéd phrase to use, they were simpler times, even the intro aspects you see in this video were classicly 90's, kinda cheesy but fun and carefree.
The last 5-10 years have felt nothing like that, just war and economic doom and political correctness and global warming and American idol.
kate mulgrew is right in that the writing is superior. the kind of stories that just go WAAAYYY over people's heads now. anyone who tells me star trek is boring can't be too bright.
Awesome production values but seriously, they dropped the ball with the writing on this show. The characters weren't bad, the acting was good but like I said, the writers screwed up.
Oh come on - some episodes ("Death Wish", "Thaw", "Workforce", "Blink of An Eye" ) werer superb. Sure, there's no "Measure of Man"/"Inner Light"/"Most Toys"/"Where The Silence Has Lease" caliber here but entire series fits well within, and unlike other aside TOS - it doesn't bother with slow start as TNG did, where good episodes started arriving in quality in seasons 2 and 3, or DS9 where it wasn't well into season 4...
I loved Star Trek Voyager, because it was different from previous Star Trek shows. That's what makes Star Trek an interesting show. While it's never easy to come up with new material to write, its result is still fun to watch.
Captain Tyla Scott, Star Trek's first black woman captain in the show, early TNG, unfortunately it's not made clear if she survives from being phasered and the alien parasite.
Voyager was likely one of the best and still the best shows on television. indeed TV sucks hard these days..
@weinmj TNG by 1000 lightyears. It had the best actor and the best voice of all Star Trek (Patrick Stewart), one of the two best characters of all Star Trek (Data of course Spock is the other) the best stories with The wounded, The drumhead, The defector, Best of both worlds and Darmok the most first-rate episodes (more than 100 out of 176 episodes are just kick-ass) and of course TNG introduced the Borg and Q
G*ddamn! Jennifer Lien looks GOOD @ 2:45. I always thought she was attractive, but wow...maybe they should've kept her natural hair color & length on the show.
I wonder if the cast has been chosen because their personal characters fitted the series characters... Some kind of 21st Century Tuvok Cooking some Pizza with kids lol XD
5:21 oh this is totally different hairstyle for Kate Mulgrew/Janewy. Never seen that.
I know there was another hairstyle for Janeway, the even shoot Caretaker scenef with it, but then changed their minds about that hairstyle and reshoot every scene with Mulgrew. You can find pics on the net.
Thanks for posting this! I love the behind the scenes stuff. I want to be an actress and videos like this gives me an idea of what happens with a show.
Wow, I remember when this first aired...I was about 13 at the time and my only thought was "what the f*** do we need another Star Trek for" and then about a year later I was hooked, so hooked I even went out of state for conventions. I'm glad I get to see it even if it is about 13 years too late(wow, that makes me feel old...and I know I'm not)
Thanks so much for posting this so those of us who didn't get to see it can now and those who did can see it again! You Rock!

It really depends who you talk to. I prefer "Trekkie"
courtlen 2 years ago 14
I agree. Trekker sounds more awkward to me.
mao12345 2 years ago 6
lol, Kate Mulgrew{sp?} says it's Trekker, since one who goes on treks, is a trekker :P
Trekkie is just what people call it, who didn't know about the word trek before star trek :P
We go on a star adventure (trek), so I'm an
A) adventurer (trekker) which both are actual words
B) adventurie (trekkie) which both are actually "fake" words, or slang
Which sounds most plausible
