  • This is hard to masturbate to...

  • You remind me of that guy of rattituiee

  • would dry ice be better? colder and no wetness mixing on your power???

  • what about dry ice?

  • only 5 AHs who realized that its a joke!!

  • cool idea.....

  • Do you think it would work with dry ice?

  • Sorry,here is 220VAC,not 110VAC,ha ha..........

  • does this work efficiently for high humidity places too?

  • In areas of low humididty you can use whats called a swamp cooler, the evaporative cooling works well. Down here in the dirty south however thats not an option.

  • 2.50 at the dollar store lol

  • is it just me or do you see the ice pack thats holding up the thermostat that would cause the temp to drop

  • you rock Mixcat!

  • this is grat apart from if i was doin it since i have the money to spare i would get a proper cooler and do it :)

  • Bad ass. Nice work.

  • Very niffty...nice job! gonna try this out.

  • you should have just used hot ice instead of making frozen water bottles

  • How long do the water bottles last?

  • do you think a computer fan would work the same? or a 10 doller one from walmart? im gana build one of these tomorrow

  • This is quite possibly the best youtube video EVER!!!! It's hot enough to fry an egg on the street here in Chicago and not only will it cost me around $100 to purchase an air conditioner, but I'd have to pay an extra $75 along with my rent for electricity costs. I created a design that is slightly more efficient. Cost a total of $45. All I gotta do is keep 2 frozen 2.5 gallon water jugs. It's just not hot that often and a fast AC alternative is much better.

  • i did this i just need the hose thingeh i am using it as a cooler for my rootbeer

  • thumbs up if you muted whe n he was cutting the hole out

  • stickin a gauge in front of it, yea it will cool down! 6 hours later............

  • /watch?v=9C4FRl9S-j4&feature=feedwll&list=WL

compared to too this i wonder what would be more effective :/

  • How to build your own A/C, with Shia LaBeouf.

  • Having the temp gauge within inches of the outlet by no means gives a true idea of cooling capability. How long will it take before needing more ice? I can see this being useful in small confined spaces, car, tent, very small room. It's a nice idea but is limited in capability and cost to operate. (Need frozen something constantly.). I guess u might need a second cooler for storage capacity. Maybe a strong fan and a cloth you keep dipping in cold water to cool yourself with would be easiest.

  • great concept. needs a little tweaking to make it perfect though. Fan should be outside the box blowing in for one, otherwise it won't last long due to condensation/moisture buildup, and honestly its not very cost efficient when you take into account the power used to freeze the water bottles... when you put the water bottles in the freezer it raises the temp in the freezer causing the freezer to run when it normally would not be, raising your electric bill. A high efficiency AC unit is cheaper

  • I would never put a AC or DC fan in a cooler that will make condensation from no mater your ice is sealed moster will form on the cold metal do to condensation and soon u have a short or a fire the fan should be placed outside the convection zone this will stop condensation forming on your fan force the air tho the convection zone your gain in cooling your traping the heat of the moter in the cooler wast of ice and not safe pluss your fan is to big for i would us a 12 volt cpu fan cost $1

  • this was quite helpful. im living in an apartment in NYC without ac. Rich Munnich sent me to you saying you may be able to help with a computer problem im having

  • "cool" video !

  • use dry ice instead

  • Why are frozen water bottles good? And does this cool a whole living room?Cause it looks cool.

  • Nice work, thanks for sharing. This will be perfect when doing projects in the hot garage. Cheers.

  • I live in phoenix and its 109° and no ac in my suv..so ill try this ...thanks

  • @type2legendaz Thats Hot with no AC.. Let us know how it works.

My friend without AC loves it.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • That was awesome man. Great job.

  • @ElMiner Thanks..

    Take care my friend,

    -Pete

  • You know I started watching the related vids on the side and now I think I am going to take on my own camping redneck AC.

  • @Mastinox803 nice, its handy.. Its great in a pinch..

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Interesting concept but not practical. You could get the exact same effect using a 5$ box fan and a laundry basket filled with stuff from the freezer.

  • @Mastinox803 Nice, thanks for the post.. The only thing with the ice chest is the frozen things last longer.

    Super ideal.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • I made one too but a little different, I used a fan, foam cooler, a small water pump and copper tube.

  • @AndroidDevil Nice! Yours is more tight tech then mine..

    Great work.

    -Pete

  • love that!

  • That seems to be fine and would work in a small area. As hot as it is here in Arkansas it would take 3 or more of them to cool a small area. We finally received rain in my area yesterday and I felt like dancing in the yard and jumping with joy as the temps was down into the 70's instead of the late 90's. It is suppose to be 102 today and the rest of the week though.

  • If you mount the fan on the outside and draw the air out of the box you can get more ice in it. Nice idea, you could reload at any gas station.

  • Clever use for that cooler.

  • Hey Pete, I liked this idea so much that I went to the garage and made a tiny version out of a small styrofoam cooler and a computer fan that I had. I mounted the fan on the outside so I could use loose ice chips. The ice sets on a piece of 1/4" chicken wire. The little fella does pretty good for being made from stuff I already have laying around! :D Thank you once again Pete. :)

  • @Stormclouds777 Awesome, the only issue with the ice chips is it will melt and pool up so you have to drain it..

    Very cool!

    Thanks for the post.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Faved!

  • @Pepsifx357 How cool.. Thanks,

    -Pete

  • Another great addition to your DIY tutorials sir, though is pretty amazing and some-times might even be a life-saver for those suffering in extreme heat and dont have AC. Very useful and Awesomely Done sir :)

  • @govinda1pk Thanks for the kind words.. Yeah I found it pretty handy.. I will have lots more to come.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Nice tutorial Pete. ;) thumbs up

  • @Eqvaliser tnx

  • 5***** nice Pete!!!!

  • @wanderingeyes11 thanks!

  • pete, nice one, but put those cubes in a baggie. you sound as if you may be an original philly boy, am i right?

  • @ultrakool Not from Philly, I grew up on Long Island NY and been in FL for 14 years

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Now thats what i call cool man. I think I may use those liquid ice packs that you drop into you're pickanick basket BooBoo Boy. Great vid. 5*****

    AL

  • Am thinking a couple or few DC - PC fans might work in place of the 110 unit :D

  • It works for what it is, but it is inefficient. Also I didn't see you put a drain hole in the bottom. What happens when the continued ice melt and condensation build up and contact the fan and electric motor? The condensate is also cold and without having it run thru a coil to exchange heat also, you are loosing more efficiency. If you add it all up you will find that it costs more to freeze things for this than just getting a room AC unit. A neat concept but very inefficient at best.

  • @STARFIRESOLAR Great comments..If you use frozen water bottles you will be fine in a pinch, if my AC is out I would be thankful to drop the temp no matter how inefficient until I get my AC working again.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • @mixcatcom Hey, I'm all for inovation. You've got a pretty simple system that works. With a little tweeking it could be the best it could be. If you are in a closed room and had a block of ice in a pan with a fan blowing over it and it would cool the room exactly as much. A faster melt = more heat exchange = higher efficiency, and visa-versa. Use a finned coil & fan to exchange heat to the melted ice water on the way to the drain. Hey I love the concept, but if AC goes out CALL AC-911 :)

  • @eyepatchinc Frozen water bottles would work better with no melted ice water, I just didnt have any on hand.

    -Pete

  • tried that, and it sure won't work in a 10 X 16 90 degree garage!!! LOL been there done that.

  • EUREKA!!!

pretty cool... bzzzzt, lol. the swamp cooler made simple, sorta :)

good show. it works so good it's cooling me off here O_O

  • ps, the water bottles are a great idea. two dollars per bag of ice over twentyfour hours for days, can add up

  • @MrBuckwilliam Water bottles are the way to go for sure.

  • @MrBuckwilliam Yeah, I was surprised it worked very well. Great if you were camping.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • what the?....that really is a huge electrical shock hazard. The best way to do this would be to use a large DC fan like a larger version of the average PC fan and hook it up to an external power adaptor.

  • @empireravenshadow5 thats what I'm thinking...all the plans that I've seen for these had a hole in the lid and the fan blowing down, then another hole with a plastic plumbing elbow so you could direct the cold air....the fan wasn't sitting in water.

  • @empireravenshadow5 This is why I explained to use frozen water bottles.

Thanks for your comments, always be safe when working with electric and water.

    -Pete

  • miss leading its not ac its called a swamp cooler

  • @eredy Does it cool are or a swamp? LOL But yes, I have seem them called swamp coolers.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Nice work, bro! I can feel it in Indiana. LoL! Good Stuff….this could have saved some elderly lives in Chicago a few years back! Maybe the RED CROSS/Emergency Agencies could take some notes here….HMMMMMMMMMM.

  • @marrsharris Yeah in a pinch it will be really nice to have on hand.. I will keep a couple around just in case.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • instead of spending energy for air conditioning you spend it in the fridge..not a solution to energy problem but it's nice..

  • Good idea, a larger cooler, lots of frozen water bottles ur on ur way

  • @Elenkhos IT would be great in a pinch for sure. Thanks for the comments.

    -Pete

  • @eyepatchinc ya, or maybe just elevate the fan housing off the floor, ya know, make the hole for the fan higher up, then put something underneath the fan housing to support it?

  • @eyepatchinc Sure that would be good.. Thanks for the comments.

    -Pete

  • you could use computer fans powered by 9 volt batteries. we used to use micro computer fans to de-fog our goggles for paintball.

  • @Madkre8tor Sure you can use 9volts and some computer fans.. Great idea!

  • @eyepatchinc hmmmm, maybe a drain hole would work?

  • @Casper3417 If you use frozen water bottles you wouldnt really have to worry about the whole.

I just didnt have any frozen yet.

    -Pete

  • some minor modifications and you got yourself a mighty fine redneck portable swamp cooler.

  • I would make a metal pan to go between the fan and the ice !! Would dry ice be good also !!!???

  • @MrMADMOFO Sure that would help, but think just using frozen water bottles would be much safer.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Very cool idea......I will give it a try....Thumbs up an many greeting.

    FuenfamTag

  • @FuenfamTag Im glad you enjoyed the video, let me know how it works for you.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • huge electrical shock hazzard

  • @lrn2wlk4life Not with water bottles frozen but, the way I tested it sure.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • I live in the desert (100+ F weather) and something like this will really come in handy, thanks.

  • @dogtown1ewok Its super easy to make, let me know if you try it out how it works for you.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • what happens when they melt and the water trickles into the fan hehehe :)

  • @paranorma1palace Again this was just to test, the water bottles frozen were the way to go.

    All the best,

    -Pete
