traxxas vxl bandit speed pass

Just RADAR'ed my Rustler with an old 5000 ma-Hr Li-Po battery and it did 76 kph with the standard (low) motor gear on. This battery went all the way to 0.0 volts when I left it plugged into the ESC for several months, there must be a slow drain when it's plugged in. I'd read that this will destroy a Li_Po but I decided to try charging it anyway (slowly) & it worked!!!

That was about 2 years ago and the battery is about 3 years old.

So 76 kph isn't too bad. Still does wheelstands for Africa!

Bandit is nice, but i would reccomend the Rustler or Rustler VXL. I personally own a Rustler that tops out at 35 MPH.

@Gig540 its easily possible. eg get the smallest spur gear possible and run the biggest pinion that will fit, take it to an airfield or beach and do some runs. your result = fucking fast

the only problem I see with a 3s lipo in it is the higher pitch gears. I think they would strip alot. I have a 3s lipo in my slash 4x4. Its awesome! great video!

OH ok why dont you look at a parts diagram the rustler is the bandit except for stampede a- arms and drive shafts. Also bigger tires and taller body mounts.. The rustler is not a buggy and a bandit is not a stadium truck everybody sweats that rusty just a mix between bandit and stampede parts.

@Bmckimm Yeah, i had one in mine! you gotta zip tie or double side tape the ESC somewhere thats all. and go online and order the steel idler gear and bushings (different size for steel gear) for the tranny. i stripped mine within one batt charging lol.but, the differential gear will still be plastic, and i couldnt find a metal one of those. so dont over tighten the slipper clutch!

Not bad on 3s 4000 is perfect a same as mind does before and you will need 3s 5400 venom and buy 35 or 36 pinion gear and 76 spur and you will hit more than 70. I used to hit 76 a twice last time since Dec 24, 2008.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thinking about purchasing the Bandit VXL, but, I want it to go the 70+ that it is able to do. I think the stock only goes up to 45+ or something. What do I need. I read on the Traxxis website that all i need is a 33 pinoin gear and a certain battery( I think some 3cell or somthing) This is going to be my first car and my last. I want it to be the best it can be. Thanks.

you can get a 3S 8000mah from spc, and use the gearing above(35-36 pinion-76 spur). You may also look at maybe some 1/8 scale wheels and tires(ex. Ofna). Also maybe lowering it a little. Other than the battery, the other items are really optional. Good Luck!!

thats a bushnell, but i would look into a garmin gps, because they are more accurate than a radar gun, and this one is about $120 and my basic garmin e-trex was like $100, but thats up to you, but if you want to see i am coming out with a video and you will see the gps thanks!

yeh dude...i reckon it'd make a difference at high speeds...try making a 6 inch long front hood at an angle of about 35 degrees point down..that should sweep the air above the car and it shouldnt lift it up..

actually..instead of a front wing, put a set Proline series Bow Tie/Torque RR on ur bandit..do that, and u'll car will stick to the road heaps better...the frotn wheels on the bandit are no good...they make them that thin so the car is less expensive..

make some proper aerodynamics for it and i bet ya u can get it over 70 mph..only bad thing about the bandit is its aerodynamics...u gotta put a front spoiler and a stream lined body on to maximise your speed..the back spoiler is probably a bit too big for top speed..RC cars that go over 60 mph or more need 2 take into account the aerodynamics..air @ that speed can drag the car down..

If that's a stock Jato it's only rated to have a top speed of 65+ mph. as per Traxxas. The Rustler VXL as per Traxxas is rated at 70+ mph. If both are stock the Rustler is faster. I have heard people say that Traxxas under rates their top speeds wich may account for your Jato reaching 72 mph. That being said jgood1976 is only using a 4000 mah. Lipo. It's only rated at 65 mph. with that battery. To see 70+ you need at least a 3s 30c 5,000 mah. Lipo. Maxamps guarantees 70+ with 3s 30c 5250 mah.

Oops! I was wrong. You only need a 20c Lipo to hit 70+ but the 4000 mah. won't do it according to the Traxxas speed chart. Perhaps with a Maxamps 3s 30c you could reach 70+ with a 4000 mah. Lipo.
