the chromebook is a good idea, but it has a major flaw. it takes a COMPUTER and turns it into a BROWSER, the fact that they have a 10 second start up and stores stuff in the cloud is just a gimmick. this will not work, because html applications are not far enough along and as big as google is. they don't have infinite storage for everyone's bullcrap so you'll be stuck carying around a terabyte external hard drive. why would you buy a chromebook when you can run chrome os (a browser) on your pc

Please realize that about every single (grocery) store, these days, uses the Internet to get their supplies. Even governments rely on the Internet for communication. If the Internet ever goes down, todays human civilization is going to notice it far beyond entertainment and personal files.

On the other hand, the Internet is a huge network, you can't "just" take it down.
