First time I heard this song, I had left the album playing in my room but walked away. Came back in later when the house was empty and the sun had set, and this song was playing. Freaked me out more than a little.
if anybody has ever played the game Planet of Death back in the day and still remember the race theme, when you heard this music for the first time you were expecting a different third note at 0:19. just listen to /watch?v=kvQUIgMwZ0s at 1:58
I always see an image in my mind that is so vivid every time I listen to this track. A lone light, dim, but bright enough to see a lit spot in front of you surrounded in pitched black. Slowly moving backwards through a dense lonely woods. A lone linear trail moving deeper into the dark, unseen before you. I think it reminds me of uncertainty and fear. A voyage through life with nothing but questions about what we leave behind and paralyzing fear of what is to come. It's terrifyingly great.
this gives me the feel im in a dark underground facility and i dont know were im at or what to do all i can do is walk blindly on on into the horrors of the facility.
manifestation of the unknown, darkness, light turns to darkness, zeeing things seeing things, weird shapes floating across thev skyliune, unedited pure, manifestation of something tpoo strange to tolerate
Ah, Aphex Twin, what an artist... always providing unique and deep atmospheres. This makes me think of stealth, sneaking somewhere in perpetual night. Slums and decadence all around me. Then, the camera zooms out slowly to reveal the skyline of a city imbued in darkness, yet lively.
I used this as the soundtrack to my art installation at St. Albans, in Radford, VA.. They are going to destroy it. It was an old mental hospital in Radford ,VA, but they let us do whatever we wanted to do in it as far as art installation... Listening to this song at 12 oclock at night in the dark of a old crazy hospital...Pretty Crazy....Support St. Albans from being demolished...
Why do his ambient tracks always remind me of memories of youth, or visions of myself walking through the deepest wilderness, or the feeling of the eternal embrace of death?
Because Aphex Twin is God. This is the soundtrack to life.
This has the feeling of having come to the realization that you have just brutally murdered someone you love in a fugue state, or something similarly horrific that completely annihilates any hope for goodness to ever exist again in your life.
@blackfloyd23 I'd have to disagree. To me this would be playing seconds before the birth of a star or something of that magnitude. Like what your witnessing is something of such significance that your human brain can't comprehend what your seeing. A bit like the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
@Sektion9 To each his own. I can understand this interpretation too. In fact, at an earlier time in my life, I was thinking of something similar to what you are suggesting. However, given time, and other experiences in life, the way I see things have changed for better or worse (usually for worse lol). But, I definitely like your interpretation. Cheers.
Sounds like we just boarded the alien ship

This is the music that nightmares are made of. Eternal loneliness surrounded by your personal demons become monsters of the night.

This makes me think about roaming the dark fields/underground levels of the occupied zone/Pripyat in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Awesome.

Really does feel like SoC's menu music.
