@TheRAZOR19111 really? you take the time to watch this video which in itself is exceptionary and interesting for the poeple with passion and knowledge in the genre, and you tihnk he can get the same sound with a banjo? Odd.
"blues" inicates, besides a kind of rythm, a kind of structure of the music with three chords, 12 bars etc... Country is a kind of rythm: you can play every song with country rythm. So when you play a blues.structured song with country rythm, is both blues and country!
Yes! Rory Gallagher lived the blues and he learned alot from the Blind Delta Blues men of New Orleans and the Big River.
If anyone likes Blues, check out Gallagher's acoustic sets. Too much Alcohol to name one.
And just to jog the memories, Rory Gallagher was one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived. Even Jimi Hendrix during an interview deferred to Gallagher. Check him out!
Funny, I have one the same as the guy in this video, although it doesn't sound as sweet as this one. I live in Belfast.
Can I respectfully suggest that before you make any further pronouncements about Ireland and the Blues, you should check out the "Harvest Time Blues Festival" site.
It's held in Monaghan town every September!
So yeah, we (Ireland) may be a long way from Mississippi, but we're not a Blues Music backwater!
Playing the slide requires more musical "ear" than other styles, as you have control of where you fret the instrument. So no, slide is not "all in the right hand" by a long styretch of the imagination, and is akin to the skill required in playing any fretless stringed instrument, with the possible concession that the frets on the fingerboards act as a pretty good guide as to where you're supposed to be placing your slide.
what a great sounding instrument. That hand looks pretty young to be playing so well.Keep it up you kill with that git!
