Yup, but thye've been on the car for over 6 years with no problems. You have to be smart enough not to mis-use them when on public roads. I only do the light show with the vehicle parked at car shows or such.

It is not legal here either except on private property or at auto shows. I do not use the bright flashing lights on public steets or I would be fined or have them confiscated and destroyed.

How many mcd are those leds?

They LEDs are Lumiled's Superflux and rated at roughly 5 lumens output each. There are 800+ LEDs so brightness is not a problem.

All custom made by me with a lot of time and money thrown at it. I completely gutted the OEM housings and replaced it all with 858 SuperFlux LEDs and 22 LED drivers to power each segment.
