First.. Lurker is most def the most important upgrade on a hydra, not speed

Second,.. Dark swarm also happens to affect hydra shots. Dark swarm affects all long range attacks, not just missile attacks. Siege tanks can still do splash damage, but their main attack is useless and unsieged tanks do no damage under swarm

I've never played BW, but do mutas counter siege tanks in BW? From the last video it seems like the mutas were weaker against tanks but I dunno.

@Pimetalz they counter siege tanks but sometimes they don't kill the tanks fast enough to be worth it cost-wise. Occasionally you do see a zerg player switch from mass hydra to mass muta to throw the opponent off guard but the mutas almost immediately become useless after killing like 10 tanks, because of their low dps.

@Pimetalz Nah. With the number of mutas Jaedong was stacking, he could one shot the tanks. The problem Jaedong faced, as it still is in Starcraft 2, is that even though mutas are excellent harassers, the will get raped in a straight up fight. Dont forget that in Broodwar, Terran Goliaths were the best ground to air attackers. Throw in the 3-3 upgrade and the range upgrade, and those mutas would have melted immediately. You cant stay on muta tech against strong ground army and all those turrets.

the level of skill these guys can only be truly appreciated by playing BW itself and seeing how ridiculously difficult the controls were made, remember that selecting more than 12 units was already invented by westwood in C&C as well as a convenient production tab for ur units, and Blizzard said, "fuck that shit trolololol" not to mention dragoon AI, it must be seen firsthand how laughable it is.

I'm really really far from a Brood War expert but wouldn't the solution for the Zerg to win this game, going for Guardians? Sure they are slow, expensive and suscetible to Irradiate, but they would definitely sweep away all those tanks and missile turrets, while other units (along with the Dark Swarm) would get the rest of the job done.

I've never played Brood War. I'm curious as to what it is about the game that people like over Starcraft 2. From my perspective it seems like people like the nostalgia factor and the fact that the out-dated controls require more skill to master.

while I'm not a Brood War expert, I've noticed there's just a lot more stuff going on, compared to SCII. Also, the games tend to last longer, and games last into the lategame more often. I'd say it's a much more fun game to watch, just because of the longer length and the bigger scale. Just look at the minimap, wouldn't you say it looks a lot busier?

could you imagine SC2 with APM ( I mean like 12 units can be selected at once APM) in SC2. These Brood War games are more exciting then 90% of SC2 games, and I LOVE SC2 now.
