I get a kick out of the Flintstone lick. Even heard that Brandon Bailey use it in his Whammer Jammer vid that Adam has posted on his site. Man I love this improv.....Thanks!
I just keep on coming back to this and rating it 5* time and time again. It seems to defy human endurance and concentration which, when bearing in mind that this is creative improv, makes it all the more remarkable. Superhuman effort from a super human.
Agree....but his tour with Walter was as a sideman, so you wouldn't have seen him with New Blood - where a Live show with them really illustrates Jason at his very best - and the brilliant rest of the Band. It would be optimum if they all got to tour the UK (could afford to). Maybe 'somebody' over there could get something going? As an ex-Pat - I'd love my Scottish cousins to be able to see him play in the UK ;) I've been to many of his live shows and want the WORLD to experience what I have.
Glad you and my other European harp brothers got to see Jason and the boys! I saw them in the US just before they went over. Glad he put that interloping player in the audience in his place - what nerve!
For those of you who are wondering why he stopped at 8:00, it's because some guy in the audience started playing. I still don't understand what he said, however. Anyway, great show, very nice person, I'm glad I was there but I wish he hadn't been 1h40 late ;-)
If Looks could kill. ;) Jason usually doesn't let anyone bother him..and he controlled himself here very well, but really...that IDIOT in the audience should have slunk out and tossed his harp in the nearest river. How could he interrupt his 'flow' that way? JR's playing at that point was brilliant - but there's always someone SO sure they can play just as good as.. What a jackass. If Jason wasn't such a class act he should have tossed the mic stand at him. Now that, I'd have paid to see. ;)
haha...actually, after playing it back a couple of times, I thought he said: "I'm almost done, you can go on after me", which would be much more mildly sarcastic and a typical way to handle a 'gus' in the audience. Either way, Jason's remarkably cool under fire, here.
@jasonricci Yes. I added the part where you said 'you can go on after me' because I thought it was a very cool way to handle the guy.... the implication is that he's next up - which everyone knows he isn't, but maybe in his brain he thought he was good enough to be up there with you. I just might have thrown a chromatic or a drink at him..but then I'm Scots and we're a lot more hot tempered than you. ;)
hard to believe, isn't it? When I first heard and then met him I thought it was simply impossible to play that well...and then he keeps raising the bar. He's better now than I ever thought anyone could be.
WOW!! Incredible! This is the kind of jammin' I can listen to over and over and not get tired of. Louie

This is one of the most amazingly diverse and controlled harp solos on the net. Fantastic.

How the hell does J get that "chugging" sound that starts at 3:26? Amazing-to-the-power-of-n.

This guy is the greatest harp player alive, IMHO. What a pity his UK tour got cancelled! Thank heavens for YouTube.
