The map showing Islam spread is wrong. It shows Italy as part of Islam realm while only Sicily has been muslim. Really strange that they cant even get that straight!
Is it possible that Islam says to its followers to live in peace when you can, but only when attacked is violence justified? Do they have a right to defend themselves? To those who say that Islam preaches nothing but peace and to those who say Islam preaches nothing but war. Could it be both?

It's a sadly universal human motivation to use aggression to gain power. If religion or ideology is the supposed banner for the war, that's a greater shame because it puts a pretty face on plain old greed, as in any conquest (Christian, Islamic, imperialist, capitalist/globalizationist, Communist, or otherwise).

@hans89 You have yet to read about Muslims condemning extremism for two reasons. Reason 1: The media doesn't like to talk about it. That sort of thing is "boring". The media likes racy things, like hatred and radicalism. Reason 2: You haven't really looked. A simple Google search will reveal many Muslim organizations, states, and individuals condemning radicalism.

Extremism is at the core of Islam, it has been there since Muhammad.

But in some people's eyes, the West has attacked the Muslim world, repeatedly. So, erm, why NOT blow up the West (including the Twin Towers)? I have yet to hear a good explanation for this.
