They didn't fear him they respected him as there leader because he would kill just like them.

He wasn't that big yet in Season 3 yet so he still came around the corners to see what was up. That's a subtle thing but something they showed very effectively. Generals aren't on the front lines in war.

Sought of like a lot of things in real life, to me, Marlo won those corners by attrition. All the real comp was gone. He wasn't that necessarily defeated Avon, he just kept him at bay long enough for Avon himself to screw up, which he did. As far as Avon being on the front line, I disagree. He never touched money or drugs, and certainly didn't "put in work" at this point in his tenure, hence having Slim Charles and Cutty going at Marlo's corners.

Marlo was just as ruthless as Chris and Snoop. Remember in season three when he shot that chick who was trying to set him up for Avon in both her tits and in the mouth that boy Marlo was just as crazy as Snoop and Chris. They didn't fear him they respected him as there leader because he would kill just like them.

Marlo couldn't even look him in the face when he was talkin that shit. I've been down this road with a few ppl here and there on YT about Marlo's role. I never liked the dude. His muscle was his strength. Personally, he seemed kind of sneaky to me. Not lot Omar. Omar was a predator. Just never felt his character.

No closet dude run the streets like they portrayed his character to do. Not from the street level anyway. There's to much heat on the streets. My problem is, some kid in real life will take that character to heart & will get a whole lot of people killed behind that BS. Barksdale was a "REAL G" and so was Omar. Stringer wasn't either.

He wasn't that big yet in Season 3 yet so he still came around the corners to see what was up. That's a subtle thing but something they showed very effectively. Generals aren't on the front lines in war.

Sought of like a lot of things in real life, to me, Marlo won those corners by attrition. All the real comp was gone. Remember in season 3 when Avon & his ppl got locked and Marlo was in the jeep at the end. They told him what happened and he said, "it's a good day to be out on dem corners." What happens when the another Barksdale shows up again?

@Baltimorehop When he said that, he meant its time to get back to work. That the war was over. And yes Marlo did win by attrition. He wasn't that necessarily defeated Avon, he just kept him at bay long enough for Avon himself to screw up, which he did. As far as Avon being on the front line, I disagree. He never touched money or drugs, and certainly didn't "put in work" at this point in his tenure, hence having Slim Charles and Cutty going at Marlo's corners.

If the general goes down, the whole army goes down. And I don't know Avon was necessarily going to be out there guns blazing on Marlo had the raid no happeend, just cuz he was at the spot.

Marlo knew when to make his move to try to take over. With Avon and most of his muscle locked up and Stringer tryin' to make cheese like the mafia types, he took advantage. But had Avon, Bey and the rest been out, none of that woulda happened at all.
