Bernie is so great. Listening to it on Spotify now and getting a physical copy as soon as I get my next salary =p along with Storybook. Btw thanks a ton too for making me discover Yoeko Kurahashi.
I just got both of your new CD's in the mail today. I can't wait to give a listen. Whoa...! 10CC's "The Things We do For Love"??? That is one of my all-time favorite songs. This is gonna be good... BTW, I have over 1,500 LP's (vinyl), and I bought a new turntable about 4 months ago. I'm in needle-drop heaven again! ~Jon
Certain songs emote such strong feelings that it's difficult to convey to others. The closest I can explain is it's rather like that "lovesick" feeling. It's a rare bird, difficult to come across, yet you resonate that experience overwhelmingly in so many of your songs. The bare bones versions of your New Tokyo Terror releases are simply beautiful. Your approach to the songs is perplexing and fascinating. You're hard to pin down and unpredictable, making you so unique, a real treasure. Pete
I'm really excited for this release, but I'm curious if, the 45rpm is your preferred version, why didn't you just master the CD recording to be the speed you wanted?
i also want the more solemn version to exist. after all, I did write the songs in that tempo, and i think the original written version always has great significance.
I just checked out the 45 RPM post and all I can say is "Wow!" What a beautiful new form it all takes on! I can definitely understand the magical appeal you spoke of in the video. Thank you for always making and sharing these videos with us. It is always enjoyable to hear these ramblings of the heart like this. It's very pleasing (and sadly somewhat rare) to see someone who has been making music still be so enchanted and passionate about it and sharing in such a way.:) It's very heartwarming.
Have you ever heard of the band Anamanaguchi? Based on your description of your preference to really fast, instrumental video game music, they seem like a band you would enjoy.
I checked them out, it's not quite what I was talking about. what I was talking about is more wacky and happy and classically influenced. their songs still seem to gear towards more modern chord progressions.
While you were re-upping, I accidently did a Wang crash course. Following related videos from Chinese shows of seventies classic covers to the highlights version of one of your tours (amazing sets, costumes, songs). I melted with every vid. Now the 45 obsession is one my bro and I had since we were kids! YES! (the other speed is 75 rpm for hardcores). All this stuff reminded me of one video: Barbra Streisand _ The minute waltz _ Chopin <seen it?
but my obsession with fast music is usually all instrumental. check this out SM RPG: Happy Parade, Delightful Parade, & The Parade Draws. the bassline is the most delightful and exciting and wonderful thing ever.
