Steely Dan has just as much (if not more) validity as jazz rock fusion as any instrumental or solo driven group such as jeff beck's or gary moore etc. Why do you disagree with that? Just because their music is thoroughly composed and polished? HAVE YOU HEARD AJA? or the caves of altamira, or Dr. Wu, or sign in stranger, or your gold teeth? are you aware of how many jazz covers of steely dan there are and how widely respected they are by serious musicians worldwide? Hey, good work. Though I think Ped, Kid Charlemagne, The Fez and Doctor Wu are clearly in my top 20, and Jack of Speed is a worthy song from 2aN (especially compared to Brooklyn, not to Midnite Cruiser). But, I know. Steely Dan makes it hard. They just made excellent songs everytime. But I do like the pictures are well chosen, respect.

"Black Friday"...."Chain Lightning"... "FM"... "Godwhacker"..."Two against Nature"..."Babylon Sisters"... "Cousin Dupree".... "Things I Miss the Most"...."Green Earrings"... would easily have made my top forty. Or twenty!

@KatesPinkZeppelin Agreed, Hard to choose. It just seems you favour early Dan, and I´m more drawn to their funkier, late 70's stuff. Thanks for the vid, it helped me remember how great these guys are. But I wouldn't say the first 6 albums represent the "real" SD. Times may have changed, Don and Walt have changed, WE have changed... but their more recent work is still relevant and shouldn't be totally discarded.

@KatesPinkZeppelin "Cousin DuPree" and "Jack of Speed" belong in the top 40. You could have eliminated "Brooklyn" and "Midnight Cruiser", two awful songs ( by Dan standards) that aren't even sung by Donald. But, it was fun listening. Oh yeah...."Aja" only 39? Man, it HAS to be top ten dude!

@000SMITH000 Yeah, perhaps, but it's all different tastes, to be honest I think Midnight Cruiser is masterpiece, from them opening lines " Fellonius my old friend, step on in and shake my hand" just an amazing song, but as long as we love the Dan, who cares :)
