I love Ray, I also love Bear Grylls. Of course they both receive some form of help in making these shows. Were did ray get His egg in this scene? obviously for the benefit of the TV they cheat a little! Forget all the by product, these shows are fantastic and noone can say that they are any less capable of fending for themselves having viewed a few...Wonderful men doing something good, enjoy them as the world is full of Cretins with ill intent.
Ray its very best at these things i appreciate him . I think Bear Grylls is fake but it doesnt matters , we must take whats good from his show -> the things that what he says are true.
Bear is not a fake. He is just more about showmanship and entertainment than educating, which is what Ray is all about. I lean more towards Ray, but as you say, we can take that which is important from both men. In the early days, all of Ray's knowledge was concentrated on the geography of the UK. Thankfully, he was able to expand that globally, which helps a great many more of his viewers.
@ReyMysterioRO bear is not fake he does ocasionaly gets help but his show is more how to survive and get out..... everything in man vs wild is real but hes there to show how its done not go hardcore and get zero help its not survivour going on
@ReyMysterioRO Theres nothing fake about Bear but I believe it is over-produced and does not contain all that It should. The Discovery Network most likely trashes some of the information to make it more "appealing" to the viewers although fans like myself am a backpacker like Bear. I think Ray puts a lot more heart into his work and doesn't let the mainstream alter his productions which why I enjoy these videos.
@guitarmaster125 belive me, alot of what Bear does in his shows are fake, but it dosen't mater cause he is ex military and knows the training. but Ray is definately the number 1 survival expert in my opinion.
@jimyjamyninjas Yeah exactly. Bear and Ray are equally talented when it comes to bushcraft but the mainstream media cuts down the potential for what us bushman crave
well I guess you could use this if you didn't have steel. The other way is to use Iron Pyrite rock to strike a spark, but the sparks are so dull they will only catch really fine tinder like charred cloth or tinder fungus. The ember you get from the bow drill is much larger and can be used on a much wider range of tinders.
Yes, the same flint. I just learned how to get cutting tool and start a fire.
Thanks to Ray.
I travel to many areas in the U.S and other countries to go camping. Now, I feel confident about emergencies. I can try his ideas through experiments in the woods.
I've cooked eggs lke this a few times. The key is to keep the egg wet and that's why Ray uses the moss for the moisture, but i've wrapped it in a bandage from the first aid kit and soaked the bandage in water before you wrap the egg. it can be stream water and no need to filter it because the shell will keep the egg safe from harmfull nasties. Basically any bit of old wet cloth with do the trick.
wow you can actually survive away from civilization with out drinking your own piss? who knew

hard to believe that the notch was carved with that piece of flint to such a perfect shape.
anyway, what if there is no string available at all? is there any natural resource that can replace modern string for making the bow

is that the same flint that someone can make afire with?
mookeyman123 3 years ago
Yeah, I agree. I was like, hey, if you found a giant flint rock, why are you building a friction bow?

you can't always count on finding flint. it's actually a lot harder to find than that he has to show you as many possibilities as he can

Hey, you can make a fire board by tying two small limbs together, like this equal sign: = and the groove is already there between the two.
