@Millenniumforce I've never got a ticket at this intersection and I keep moving through all of the time. It has a separate right hand turning lane with a feeder. I checked the rules and it says you just have to slow down at a yield, but not sure about camera lights. The flash has never happened here when I make my turn.
@Millenniumforce Tampa, FL, the handbook says "Slow down and give vehicles crossing your path the right-of-way. If the way is clear, you may move forward slowly without stopping. Yield signs are usually placed where auxiliary roads lead into major roads."
@skimboardmonster Cool you have the handbook. But sometimes the camera will go off and if you do get a ticket you have to fight it in court. It's a big hassle
@Millenniumforce I probably got 2 coming then. I stopped to turn right and the light flashed. I pulled into the gas station and then when I pulled out of the gas station I stopped at the light again to turn right it flashed again.
Red light cameras - safety feature or municipal revenue generator?
Several years ago I took a trip to Washington, DC and I found not only red light cameras, speed cameras practically at every block you can think of. Seems like a major revenue generator here.
If Tampa has red light cameras, it's coming across the bay to St. Petersburg - and soon! One of the proposed locations: 4 St N at Gandy Blvd.
@EdRingwald I don't think its safety feature. you can't stop anyone from running a red light. I believe it's a revenue generator. Pretty soon w will not need a lot of police o the force because the camera's will take care of it all.
Looks like every single one of those people were right hand turns. Once you stop, you can proceed if the traffic is clear. Something is wrong with you AND the camera.
@1RatMom There is nothing wrong with me. The cars don't stop until after the white line. there is a right turn on red butafter a full stop. So when the camera flashes it an illegal stop that they have made.
Getting Speeders on the highway is fine with me ! BUT ~ those people in the city who run red lights ...lol, cannot they see the white line and the RED light!??? ( although, in some places, there is a "right turn on red." )
Do we have to stop at yield signs too if there is a separate lane for right turns? There is a double line cross walk but the sign say yield.

They didn't run the light, they pulled up past the line. It's about controlling your life, not safety.

@skimboardmonster Next thing he cameras on the highway will be taking pictures of speeders then a ticket in the mail
Millenniumforce 3 months ago
You mean if I pull up past the white line to check for traffic making a right turn, I will get a ticket even if I stop?
skimboardmonster 3 months ago
@skimboardmonster If you sop befre the white line then slowly pass it no ticket. But if you stop after the line a ticket

@skimboardmonster If it flashes it's for a reason. It don't flash for every car that stops before the solid thick white line

Regulation is NOT about Public Safety.
Regulation is about CONTROL.
Regulation is about Crony-Corporatism aka "Progressive" Statist Fascism:
“Fascism should rightly be called [crony] CORPORATISM, as it is the merger of CORPORATE and GOVERNMENT.” [corporate socialism] ~ Benito Mussolini
Who benefits? The corporate lobbiests who sell the cameras and the politicians who sponsor the cameras in return for campaign contributions.

@Millenniumforce Its a revenue generator that gets people to not run them because of the tickets they will get.
