  • I agree. His tone is legendary, but here he has that old MTV "unplugged" crappy sound. Not knocking his playing at all (of course), but you can't here the "sound of wood crying" as in his other work.

  • I don't know anything about music technology, but Pepe's guitar sounds funny here. Twangy and fuzzy, instead of that dry rasping, but crystal clear sound he's known for. Still, a very interesting collaboration and I'm looking forward to more!

  • @carracoleo it's because they use also the intern mic of the guitar in addition to the mic infront of him. that's why there's a cable plugged into the guitar. without the mic infront of him it would sound even more like u described.

  • well I'm now convinced that under-saddle pickups don't work for flamenco; and even the greatest flamenco guitar players struggle with the sound. with that said Pepe is one my favorites

  • Wow what a surprise...not a watered down fusion but an earnest one. It's a tarantas I believe.
