Bach on this organist is fabulous, it sounds just like Bach playing himself.

I wonder why he plays this variation organo pleno. The mood should surely correspond to the meaning of words in the tenth verse (strophe) of the choral.

I wonder why he uses the same registration for the RH in both the variation of each line of melody, then its more simple statement.

Interpretation géniale; pas en néo-baroque ennuyant, mais avec sonorité solenelle!

Tout à fait, j'aime cette registration style Plein Jeu à la Française. L'orgue symphonique rend Bach très majestueux et profond, en tout cas plus que la plupart des orgues allemands et américains, parfaits pour les Sonates en trio par exemple, mais dont les cymbales sont souvent trop omniprésentes. Bach aurait été certainement inspiré par l'orgue symphonique !

La période où l'on jouait tout Bach sur Bourdon 8', Flute 8', Sous-basse 16', avec parfois un prestant 4' est révolue. Ouf!
