  • thats lovely!

  • I'm amazed how it got like this in the Netherlands whereas in Chicago people keep driving their SUVs and complaining about traffic and gas prices. Oh yeah, and getting fatter.

  • I love the "normalcy" of this.

  • This is great! Cycling in Mexico is so hazardous!

  • I live in Madison, WI and I bike all year round. If you think this is cold, come here. It'll be around -5F and we're out biking. (Probably because we're all poor college students who can't afford luxurious gasoline driven vehicles... lol)

  • It's so great to see that. In Toulouse (France) I feel alone, with my bicycle.

  • Can scooter together the Bikes?? (at 2:00 there is a scooter among the bikes) isn't dangerous? Here (italy) scooters share the same road of the car but not of the bikes. Thanks for sharing this video :)

  • @Absith90 the rules for scooters are very complicated in the Netherlands. We have two types of scooters and sometimes the fast scooters have to mix with the bikes, the slow scooters always mix with the bikes. Motorcycles always go where cars go. This all has to do with speed differences. If cars are allowed to go over 50kph the scooters would be at risk between them so they go to the bicycle paths. But there is heavy debate over this in the Netherlands. It may change...

  • UTRECHT

  • @thedadik83 also my 1st time to see one such bus in action. Amazing! Google bi-articulated bus.

  • Ah yes, perfect material to start feeling patriottic :D.

  • @Dutch3DMaster And to make Americans like me jealous :-)

  • These people are AMAZING. This is fantastic. I am amazed that there are almost no cars in these scenes. If this was filmed in anytown USA there would be MAAAYYBE 1 bike and 5000 cars. KUDOS to you amazing people!

  • Bikes are great , OK. but you can`t apply this to countries other than northern Europe or very small towns. The mentality in most countries is different. Cars show class status, they make you free, independent. How can you dress up and not sweat like hell? how do you go to work or a wedding well dressed? Plus , what girl will ever date a guy with a bycicle? admirable, but it looks like red China in the 70s , you cant call this a developed country.

  • @jjbarbados LOL Are you for real ?

  • @jjbarbados Cars only give you an opportunity to go really fast and really far with very little effort. But they add many ball and chains, such as insurance, road tax, fuel, maintenance, etc. And the town doesn't have to be small, it just has to be denser than super spread out suburbs, and have a decent investment in bike infrastructure.

  • @jjbarbados Our cities aren't really build to handle lots of traffic, so biking and public transport are preferred by most people. Sweating really isn't a problem as most people are in reasonable shape, and the climate is temperate. Weddings and official stuff gets done by car. The dating thing must be something cultural because I've never heard of that around here.

  • @jjbarbados I can assure you the netherlands is a western country. we just changed our mentality concerning transport. by the way these bikes can't go very fast so sweating really isn't a problem unless you want it to be. and no dutch girl will ever think less of a guy who only owns a bicycle. she herself probably has a bicycle because there are more bicycles in holland than people.

  • @jjbarbados You have got to be kidding...

  • @jjbarbados As a guy who rides a bike, I would date a girl with only a bicycle, so why would it be any different the other way around. Cars are a menace.

  • No, snow, no ice. That's not winter cycling.

  • ah to live in a more temperate climate - if it were ONLY "freezing" here in MN/WI. I'm glad this is common in some cities - bike if you can:)

  • 2min.33sec. so long bus i see first time in my life.

  • @Thedadik83

its a special model, for one of the busyest lines in europe. every few minutes a biggy like that leaves from the central station (biggest of our country) to the big park wehre all university and school buildings are located, at the other end of town. Its HUGE!

  • @Thedadik83

its 25 meters long. when you sit in the back, its like riding a tram

  • There are a lot of international students in Utrecht. They usually use the bike too. It is good if they can bring the bike culture back to their country. Go Green, Go Dutch, Go Bike.

  • 1200~1500$ a year for gasoline on average per person the drives a car

no wonder Arab countries are rich we give them gifts every year

  • I like your videos. Here in eastern Canada we have nothing to compare regarding bike paths. I wish, I wish. But we do have much colder weather to cycle in..

  • love your videos

  • I wish I lived there... I moved to Minneapolis because of the number of cyclists... Nothing compared to there!.. Durning winter there were days were I didn't see another cyclist...

I LOVE my dutch bike... Maybe one day I'll find a dutch girl.... : )

  • We go one better and mandate helmet use. Now, to marry the two cultures...!

  • อุ้ย..มีไม่สวมถุงมือด้วยง่ะ..เก่งจริงๆ บร๋อออ

  • Utterly amazing and inspiring.

  • It was -5°C on Tuesday morning and people were still riding. Myself included, heh.

Now it's warmer (0°), but it snowed last night (first snow of the winter). I'm preparing to go to work, by bike.

  • How cold was it?

  • As stated in the infobox: just below freezing point, or -1 Celsius / 30.2 F

  • @markenlei It's not freezing cold... In Poland freezing cold is about -25 Celsius ;)

  • @jgaj33 It was below zero. That is freezing.

  • @markenlei

still not that cold. -1--> we are happy in Hungary.

  • @markenlei Great stuff. I wonder if it would work in Helsinki too. -20C and 90cm of snow.

  • @Rubellaaa believe me, I have to bike 8km to school. Even when it's -15C and it's slippery as hell (quite a funny expierence actually, seeing your friends fail to stay on their bicycles)

  • @markenlei Cold enough to make your balls fall off! Pling pling!! In Canada it can reach 25c and below in winter.

  • @jgaj33 -25 C is freakin cold
