Why isn't this man's music more popular? If he was a British composer the record companies would be all over it, but since he was Swiss he just get's ignored by everybody.
@christomacin : he was swiss, but also strongly linked to France where he was born, where he studied and died. And he was member of the "groupe des Six" with Milhaud and Poulenc. So I don't really think he's so labelled as a "swiss" composer. I tend to consider him as a "nearly french" composer.
I like how he uses the various instruments to make nature-like sounds (i.e. woodwinds for birds, strings for wind/breeze). French horns at 4:35 sound like church bells pealing, adding to the overall glory. Quite a piece of music.
The music of Honegger and Delius made my teenage years more easy to bear. It's simple, quiet elegance is very special. Thanks for posting it.

Think perhaps I've misjudged Honegger - this is very pleasant; must research further !
Thank you.

@ christomacin: I am not sure whether Honegger's nationality plays a role in his being ignored.
The "mainstream" also ignores Ives and other composers.

A sublime piece of music, this is strangely sad...full of the longing of past summers, impossible feelings...
