Also, I have seen strawberries growing in 5 gallon buckets that people cut holes in the side with a hole saw and have strawberries hanging out of them. Would this work for chufa? Then, it would be contained, and at the end of the year you could just dump the bucket over some sort of wire mesh screen and screen out the nuts. Might be a space/time efficient way of growing them. just an idea.

John, do you ever dry herbs outside of the dehydrator? I just cut my stems and then hang them in bunches, and they dry out in a few days, then you can strip the leaves off and store them in baggies, and they are an awesome addition to lots of things. I know you're all about eating stuff straight off the plant, but even if you did this and sold it or gave it away, I'm sure the high quality herbs would make someone happy!
John, I live in Michigan which is Zone 4. Id really like to try growing Chufa but we only have spring - summer growing season. Would Chufa grow ok during that season even tho it would only be grown as a annual? Also could it be grown indoors viably? If not what other tuberous plants would you recommended for my zone? (besides potatoes)
hi. try chufa.. it should be fine.. mine only lasted for a short season. also look up my other videos on jerusalem artichokes, yacon and chinese artichoke. of the three, jerusalem should work the best and is the easiest to grow and yield alot.
I will send you a self addressed stamped envelope if I can get a few of those pumpkin seeds. I responded to your runner beans video asking for a couple of those too. Let me know and I will send you an envelope right away. deiatrarn@hotmail.com

Dang John, you look kinda run down and listless in this vid (compared to your usual exuberence). I hope you are doing well sir!!
Thanks as always for the vids, and I love the cherry toms taking over and making their own trellis.
