I am French producer of hiphop I love ricky since I listen to children, this music is beautiful!! how not to love?? ricky skaggs dan seals and george straits ^^
@strawbry3shortcake Ricky is still making music. He and his band Kentucky Thunder have been popular in Bluegrass music for a number of years now. Still, you are absolutely right- what the radio stations call country today is not country.
What a shame--this was during the period during which he was contractually obligated NOT to play or record Bluegrass--the price of being a Country Music Star!! Do you think that would be tolerated today? I pray not! Maybe we'd still have his buddy Keith Whitley if Country Music in the 70s and 80s had not been so narrow minded.
i like this song because my mom and me play his songs when she was here but she gone up then but i miss her so much i wish she was here with us again good bye mom i love
my story is this, in 1997, I bought a cd of ricky skaggs for less than a dollar. Noone in here* enjoys much of country music. It is my most valuable possession.
here stands for North Africa... an altogether different place with a different type of music...lol
Right, BYE-YOU for bayou, not BYE-YO. BYE-YO is the countrified version (Thanks, Hank Williams Sr.!). But it's a great song by a great singer-song writer-musician, Ricky Skaggs! And that's from the Cajun's mouth to your ears!
Ricky Skaggs is one of the best country music stars out there today I've grown up listening to his music and I tell ya I love his music and always well thanks for the great music ricky!
When this song was on the radio pretty regular i was around 3 to 5 yrs old. When it would play on the radio my mom said i would come and find her and want to dance with her. hahaha We have a laugh about it now and again. Thanks for posting this song it brings back alot of memories.
I grew up listening to Ricky as a child too!!! My grandfather would play his tapes. I would listen to them over and over until they wore out! And now my this is my son's favorite song!! He's only 2 but loves to dance and sing along too!!
20 years ago, first time I heard this song from a piracy cassete. I love this song so much ... Now I'm a man close to 40, thank God finally I can find it again and watch in from Internet. Thank you.
Both my parents were as country as the days are long. I've got myself some college education now, and I've somewhat integrated into today's world but, only enough to get by. I know my roots, and I thank God for them. Music sure does have power!

He's so wonderful. I just wish he would have made a few newer songs. He could have set a whole new standard for the crap we call country nowadays.

well phonetically Bye-yo won out because of the rhyme scheme.
BigBoiJC 2 years ago
They say Bye-yo in Houston. I canoed down Buffalo Bayou and Armand's Bayou in the 70's....
