  • I built a full size Anderson Kingfisher and the fished aircraft although looking very nice was not a good performer. There was not enough hull boy-ency and the over head engine was a nose from Hell. One need 150 h.p. to get the aeroplane to fly well. The free board with the split door was a bad idea and dangerous on the water. The Kingfisher should have had cockpit access from the rear like a Grumman Widegon.

  • That bass only looked large because the Kingfisher was 1/4 scale :-)

Congratulations on the first flight, we need to go night flying. Walt

  • Thanks Walt. Bring your Night flyer to the Salinas IMAA meet this weekend.

  • Nice flight, Don! The spray rails are very effective and deflect the water well clear of the hull...

  • Thanks Kevin. She's a sweet, gentle bird.

  • @skydanz10 Beautiful plane! I picked up a Kingfisher with the 9' wingspan....I think that's the same as you have. What size engine are you using and what would you recommend as the minimum for a gas engine? Thanks.

    Mike

  • @krbldrs Thanks Mike. I have a Saito 1.82 twin in mine, mostly because it looks good in the cowl. I have a Zenoah g20EI that I was going to put in it until I got the Saito. I think the g20 would be more than enough for this bird... the g23 would give tons of power that you'd only use for short takeoffs. Be sure to post a photo of your new bird!
