Ahh, memories of my love for grace slick, even though I, myself, was a just few years too young to go to woodstock , I was on a Montana reservation back then
I always like the haunting beginning of this song. This album is good, but 'Welcome to the Wrecking Ball' is as good or better than anything Heart or Pat Benatar did!
great album 'Dreams' Grace had/and probably still has an amazingly powerful voice, and indeed was truly stunning ... was looking for Mp3 of this album, no luck, and the album £30 !!!! ... kind of wish i'd kept my albums now :-( ...
wonderful. always have loved her voice, and such a beautiful woman. if i had one wish before i died i would want to go back in time to spend a weekend with her. i am getting ready to put the surrealistic pillow lp on now. grace- i loved and still do.
Brilliant. Grace without the Airplane or Starship and she is still compelling. Mysterious and mesmerizing far before the wonderful "witch" Stevie Nicks came along. Such a great album by one of rock's goddesses -- who survived. Grace had such a powerful slick and attention getting vocal style. She deserved more good material later in life -- I'm still waiting.
"Dreams" is a classic Grace Slick performance & was amazed stupid radio wouldn't play it...would have been a blockbuster with exposure and every song kicks ass & is awesome...Grace Slick's masterpiece!
@bradly2007 You are so right about that. This is a Magnum Opus....I think I know the words to every song on here. Learned back when I could remember things.
Have always loved Airplane and Grace... Introduced to their music my my Big Brother... Saw them live at the Mann in Philly in the late 80s... Great show, and great experience...
I like the art at 1:47 of Grace's head looking into the looking glass with the apple behind facing us! Early MTV!!! Then the grid-like form explodes into another portrait photo of her....and what a voice!
This was an okay album. Her next album, 'Welcome to the Wrecking Ball' was ABSOLUTE KILLER! If you can find it anywhere, I would definitely recommend it.
if i was older and Grace had met me,i'm sure we would have got married and been happily stoned'n'pissed ever after, then in fifty or so years time someone would have written a song about us.......and i still belive in white rabbits,oh yes i do.
During her stay in the hospital after the baby's birth, Grace sarcastically told one of the attending nurses (whom Grace found to be annoyingly sanctimonious) that she intended to name the child "god", with a lowercase "g", as she 'wished for the child to be humble'. The nurse took Grace seriously, and her reports of the incident caused both a minor stir
@razban01 - I can sympathize ... but now is the time to to GET A JOB... not to publish a book... Who cares what you think... there's 75,000 books published a year.... there's a pile of dirt out there just waiting for YOU... deprivation builds character... give up the narcissism.... be a man, man (also lose a little weight, you'll thank me)
This is one of the most best lyrics, melodies, and rythem. The depth of voice is angelic.
My grandfather Ezra would say that we need to dream otherwise life is a waste. And, he will always add that we must dare to dream big.
I am dreaming huge dreams inspite SOBs who fired me or laid me of. I have written the "Layoffs & Hope" book that is antio-establishment and hypocracy. I hae spent every cent I had on this book. And now with both myself and wife out of job, we need the publicity. Pray 4 us
Where can I buy this song??? I live in Belleville, IL. My 13 year old tried to downloan this song to her MP3 Player and told me that she wasn't able to cuz she tried to and it didn't work. So, how am I suppost to download it to my MP3 Player if it didn't work for her. WE LOVE THIS SONG! And, I love the one titled, Across The Board by Grace Slick.
Does anyone know the piano intro to this song? Is it a well-known piece, or is Dreams the first song that does it? The reason I ask is that the Hilltop Hoods song, Monsters Ball samples the same intro.

oh my god!!!!!!!!! this is such a powerful song. I wonder If anyone could ever do this, without disrespecting Grace. she is truly legendary. You don't find artist like this anymore
true true i love this song, if a cover artist like Miley Cyrus or Casacda tried to copy this they would be making fun of her. Grace has the true potenial for this song but ,Miley and Casacada dont. I just hope this song stays the legend of grace slick not the legond of miley cyrus
WOW..I'm a huge fan of Grace's for years..and Rowanroad--I was at hat radio station's building shopping at the Saks Fifth Ave--WiOQ-102 FM was there too-that did a long interview-she was selling this album"Dreams" 1st solo in years...And she was walking out the doors into her black limo and she was really gorgeous!!! Her voice on this album was clear-strong and a powerhouse.Saw her 3 more times after that LIVE..in Philadelphia
I was really lucky to discover Grace Slick as a 12-year-old on a trip to the US in 1980. I was given this album, on vinyl of course, by friends at a radio station in Philadelphia. It is still one of my all-time favourites 30 years on. Such an awesome voice.
Everything was done in one take...vocals, orchestra, and the rock rhythm section. My professor is Ron Frangipane, the producer and arranger of the album. Brilliant stuff!
The timing was unfortunate: it came out on vinyl just before the industry jumped to CD. Since it was new, it didn't get re-issued, except for in Hong Kong.
I've seen CD copies on ebay for as much as $150, but you can still find the import sometimes.
Grace made this right out of re-hab, and a lot of the lyrics are pretty dark. But this isn't even the best cut, which was 'Seasons'. Several other good songs, worth tracking down.
To each his/her own. "Seasons" is my least favorite song on this album. It was released as a single tho', so apparently the execs agreed with you. The vocal on this track is strong but still the strings get in the way a bit. Overall, tho, you gotta love it.
In the day, she _was_ a hot chick with a fantastic voice, great musicianship and a very quick wit. But she could have gotten by just shaking that lovely ass.
