Regarding the current canon, we ALREADY have a problem starting *at least* as long as ago as the Reformation/Counter-Reformation Era, when Luther/Calvin/Zwingli (etc.) called 4 REMOVAL of what *they* classified as "apocryphal" Scripture! So the Church now has DISCREPANT Scripture! I myself DO, however, B-lieve that the Holy Spirit really WAS, 4 the most part, guiding those guys at Nicaea in AD 325 toward a canonized NEW Testament. Do *U* want that Gospel of JUDAS in there???
Clearly I love this portrayal of Jesus. Also, you could have swapped Buddha for Jesus and that would have made really good sense with that car and stickers.
If Jesus was to be here today, I know that He wouldn't conform to the NORM of today world. But be outside the box that so many have placed Him in. I believe He would have to remind us all ONCE again of His love. I doubt He would do miracles but perhaps have others create their own by finding in themselves the opportunity to bless others, as He would, by being the LOVE and GRACE He was to us. I believe He would be different then our image of Him in every regard.
Queering Christ by Robert Goss is an interesting book. He portrays Jesus as a queer Christ for gay people. He sees that as being in harmony with the black Jesus for black people and the female Jesus for feminists. I agree that Jesus is an activist. Awesome video. :-D
It would appear that Jesus wasn't pleased with Jewish traditions and Jewish society; hence why lashed out against many of the old "laws." I personally don't think Jesus would be happy with the current canon of the Bible.
This is why if he existed, Jesus was put to death. Jesus threatened the status qua, he pushed for major social change. Like Socrates before him, Jesus was rejected by those in power, and he was sacrificed to send a message to the public that, defying the status quo is not tolerated. The same is true with the assassinations of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. The fact wars have been waged in the name of religion, shows how far those in power will go to enforce their views of reality.
@tenorcervantes Hey that's not true at all. Jesus never said e didn't like any old laws bc that would be silly bc He made them. He is God and was there in the Old testament too. He hated Jewish traditions and the laws they made it but not anyone of his own laws. The old laws were put there to show people they need a redeemer bc no one can measure up to God's high standards. Jesus wasn't a love activist either. He never said He loved anyone but of course He does.
