  • We use single fiber optic to transport any signals in any direction like HD video audio data SDI ,RF, DVB-ASI ,CATV ,Ethernet ,we use different light colors for different signals , we can multiplex up to 64 separate signals : thorbroadcast

  • facinating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont think so

  • awesome

  • Its better for new genaration communication

  • awesome as i had to watch this in 240p and wait it to load coz i have 0.15 mb, FUCK SPAIN

  • @TheSnowiii i see you also have bad internet, we here at South Africa have so incredibly slow internet also sadly though for us is ours is a bit slower than yours :( but hopefully that will change.

  • awesome...thanks a lot

  • how can we see the light if all of it is reflected?

  • @rastermany light travels at 3.00x10^8 m/s. This is as fast as we are going to ever get dude.

  • @Hayeshacker0NE then why has some one created a sound wave faster than the speed of light??

    /watch?v=4TLrvi3dqkw

  • Thanks for the video!

  • I am with you vyanez08, just how on earth!!!!!!

  • No wonder why earthquakes suck!

  • @phpguru “If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.” Isaac Newton

  • OpTic Predator sent me.

  • Information at the speed of light.

  • I love this show.

  • We need more clan members!!! If anyone is looking for a clan go to hypeclan.t83.net !!!

  • wow thats amazing they use fibre optic also in phone lines, internet, etc. cant wait to have a fibre optice internet connection in the philippines!

  • haha they're using the loop from Darkseed - Downwards :D

  • IIts truely amazing

  • I think i did actually just jizz myself a little

  • wow! that was orgasmic!

  • how can download??

  • Cool stuff. Thanks for posting this. I always wondered...

  • The internet is a series of servers... tubes are just the method of communication between different servers/computers.

I'm dissapointed that they didn't talk about waveguiding or anything :/

  • Fibre

  • Loved it.

  • WOW!

  • I want a job working there that is so cool,, I hate my fucking job !!!

  • Fiber optics is the future, I hope compannies will still investing and improving this limitless technology

  • @vyanez08 LOL! that comment made my day!!

  • @vyanez08 They alredy have dude =) The government just doesn't want to admit it.

  • @vyanez08 oh shut up mate -_- humans aint that dumb either, most humans have about at least 3 things they're insanely good at, which if good enough can get a breakthrough in that thing, this thing might aswell have been discovered by accident or somethin of the sort, i mean how did isaac newton discover gravity;

"Alien technology" you say? plz give it a thought, though i do respect your point of view coz it could be true,

    WHO KNOWS!

  • @rockleevampire lol.

  • @rockleevampire I agree.

  • @vyanez08 ailenwear?

  • @vyanez08 LOL you're an idiot

  • @vyanez08 have you tried to download porn on a 56k dial up...no? then don't underestimate a desperate geek's hunt for porn :)

  • @Vakrian lol

  • Comment removed

  • @vyanez08 i agree w. you, and people may laugh at your comment but you're completely correct.

  • @imnew2 lol

  • @vyanez08 you can't explain that.

  • @Digadogup people without knowledge always believe that if they dont know how nobody can

  • @minero1986 i was quoting bill o'reilly =] but i know how it works. seems like you missed the joke but i hope you get it now =]

  • @vyanez08 someone has their tinfoil hat on too tight...

  • @vyanez08

what the fuck are you saying

  • @PreciseArrow1 . He's more right than you know. Imagine you have to make a wooden shack from scratch. You need tools such as, hammers, saws, e.t.c. You need a factory to make those tools. You need tools to make the factory.

    SEE WHERE I AM GOING?

Some Humans live in their own bubble.Say stupid shit like, God doesn't exist, aliens don't exist, this and that doesn't exist. Roll your eyes all you want, but, I GUARANTEE you don't know how to make the wooden shack..Unless? ;)

  • @olgaking1

lmfao.... i agree with everything you are saying. But what and how the guy said it is weird. I believe in God and aliens out there, but out technology is not from them. Believing in aliens is only a believe for humans have absolutely no proof of them. So believing in our technology came from them... thats bonkers o.o

  • @vyanez08 It DID take like ten millenia to get to where we are now.

  • @vyanez08 lol you're awesome!

  • @vyanez08 ur stupid. Not all humans are dumb you know

  • @DedmonStudios you mean like the astronaut (Lisa Marie Nowak) who wascharged with the attempted kidnapping of U.S. Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman, who was romantically involved with astronaut William Oefelein. Lisa Marie Nowak wore diapers so she would not have to stop on her trip to get there. yeah u humans are awesome. please shut up!

  • @vyanez08 No, i won't shut up. The human race is the most intelligent life form in our universe today. Alien life is a make believe scenario that was originally created by the human imagination. This isn't an argument disproving the existence of alien life, but the human mind IS CAPABLE of making / designing something like a glass cable. Maybe yours isn't.

  • @DedmonStudios "imagination is greater than knowledge" Albert Einstein. look obvious you are an idiot . so please shut up! MORON!

  • @vyanez08 Did i ever say that imagination was 'greater' than knowledge? If you think I'm dumb, you can tell that to MY 3.9 GPA

  • @DedmonStudios It was meant as a joke you dumbass, and 3.9 GPA is barely anything.

  • @OMGIAWESOME 4.0 is an A+

a 3.9 gpa would = 98% which is an A. you call that barely anything?

  • @DedmonStudios That's not "prodigy" good :P

  • @DedmonStudios And besides since the Universe is infinite and is CONSTANTLY expanding, than you'd think EVENTUALLY there would be at least SOME CURRENTLY FORMS OF LIFE in this universe

  • @DedmonStudios You can be 'book smart' and still be dumb as far as common sense is concerned.

  • @vyanez08 here we go again.........the old usual HOW THE FUCK A PLANE FLAYS .Question

  • @superme010 i take you got auto-corrected.

  • @vyanez08 not all humans "are not that smart". Only you.

  • @vyanez08 I havent ever imagine someone stupid like you exists....sry....

this technology doesnt come up from nothing its not magic.. science improves step by step...

  • @vyanez08 Dr. Narinder Singh Kapany is the person behind this "alien" technology. He is the father of fiber optics. Look him up! You'll find the history behind fiber optics very interesting.

  • @vyanez08 Na.. Ur just an idiot.. lol

  • @ZamAhx12345 you are the human i am talking about!

  • what i say and type travels through a satellite and it sucks dick because hughes net has low bandwith

  • Isit possible for a house to have more than one fibre optic socket on the wall? For example having one socket in one room and another in a different room for convenience purposes, or are fibre optic cables situated in positioned places in the house?

  • @KnightQuest1 Like most outside connections, fiber enters at one point and can be split with the proper tech. I think fiber switches aren't made enough to be cheap, but in time all data will be sent via radio and smaller waves.

  • @KnightQuest1 Currently you would only use fiber for locally owned wide are networks (WANs). For instance, I work in IT for a large organization (a state county). We run fiber from our core switch to 3 other locations less than a quarter of a mile away. If we had the money, we would run fiber to all of our offices, but it gets very expensive over larger distances.

For inside the home, copper would still be used, as fiber would cost more but not provide any more speed for normal applications.

  • what a tedious process. still interesting, thank you!

  • wait so how the hell does electricity travel thru it it's just light? weird im confused?

  • A sensor "reads" the light and spits out electrical impulses - they're not transmitting electricity.

    Probably.

  • @dylanfleck ,,it´s not the electricity which transferred,,it´s the light pulses, either LED or lazer.

  • it's not electricity, the light is blinking rlly fast.

  • @dylanfleck its basically like how an electrical cable sends data as its pulses, instead of small electrical pulses to transfer data it uses the pulses of light instead which then get transfered into data when it reaches the reciever

  • check out our fiber media converters

  • Diki hosi video nam pomohlo na hodine ELN pan profesor Ferenc dakuje :D

  • Interesting video!

  • @Xeera hey, Aaron there was a comment on here saying "i think I'm in love" from my name... sigh off my name before you comment videos!!!!!! I'm getting sick of it! DX

  • 10mbps speed vs 10gbps speed what do you think?

  • Comment removed

  • thats some complicated shit

  • okay you fools doesnt this look a little alien created to you...it does to me!!

  • glass isnt a true solid even when at ambient temperature - an old window pane is thicker at the bottom than at the top from gravity sagging- amazing glass is flexible enough to be rolled onto a drum when its super thin - a bit thicker, it would snap

  • Scientists have begun to believe that the windows being spoken of were actually set up before they were allowed to cool completely, leading to the thickening effect. It is still a valid argument however it is now believed that glass becomes a viscous liquid around 1000 degrees C

  • that about gravity sagging is not true, its thicker on one side because of the manufacturing process. In Mediaeval times panes of glass were often made by the Crown glass process. A lump of molten glass was rolled, blown, expanded, flattened and finally spun into a disc before being cut into panes. The sheets were thicker towards the edge of the disc and were usually installed with the heavier side at the bottom.

  • @Vinczee, I was confused at first about your comment. I see it's in reply to someone else's. About the whole window thing. You are correct my, sir. Glass sagging due to gravity in windows is a myth. People tell me this all the time and I always have to correct them. I'm a glassblower, with a huge stack of books about glass, from artistic design to structure of glass itself. Glass is an amazing thing. I love it. Cool vid by the way.

  • Shit, I got six thumbs down for my last comment. :-)

  • still confused to how it sends internet data...

  • Computer uses binary, which is 1s and 0s. so its kinda like morse code, but just on or off. so is shoots light and the computer reads it as 1s and 0s (true, false) then it does what it does

  • @Ricsic6

Any data can be converted to binary format which only have 0's and 1's. In fiber optic cable, at the sending end, you turn on the light as "1", and off the light as "0". The receiving side will detect if there is light in the cable, if so, they know it is "1". If not, they know it is "0". In this way, binary data can be transferred through fiber optic cable.

  • spajdude, that is because fiber is not an electrical conductor, it is used for transfering information.

  • Oh, that's just great! I hope I can get my money back.

    ;-)

  • L.O.L!!!

  • you are a fucking retard.

  • It really IS a series of tubes! :o

  • I hope there's a faster way of producing this, looks slow.

  • well no shit everybody knows fiber optic is way better then coax cable dummy

  • Comment removed

  • the really cool thing about fiber optics is how it actually works. and it is WAY better than coaxial cabling.

  • Well i'll be. i thought it came from ufos!!!

  • What happens if lightning hits a fiber optic cable?

  • the end of the world as we know it...

the universe wouldnt be able to contain such awesomeness!

  • the cable would burn, lighting isnt "light" its a bolt of energy coming down at you.

  • it doesn't, fiber optics are covered with black sleeves and they are placed under ground.

  • As a fiber cable does not carry electrical current, but light, no electrical interference occurs.

However, since lightning produces magnetic and heat energy, the cable might simply melt, or just it's shield or casing, depending on the actual lightning power, nearby lightning arresters etc.

Constant violent shaking and vibrations are much more problematic to this technology than lightning itself, in contrary to copper technology.

  • everybody dies.

  • womens version of how its made

    how sexist >=O

  • the internet is not something you just dump something on, the internet is not a big truck, the internet is a series of tubes!

  • Tubes are what teh Internets are made of.

  • Vážne dobre spravené. Dosť mi to pomohlo do školy.

  • Isnt that y youtube quality sucks at times?

  • Wow is this like a different version of "How It's Made"?

  • ok thats it... screw honey im putting glass on my Cheerios from now on!

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*head pops up in every shot*

  • thanks a lot

  • Why does she put emphasis on the word "soot"?

    a white SOOT...

    the heat fuses the SOOT...

    when there's enough fused SOOT!...

    Cool video anyways.

  • I KNOW! lol i'm glad i'm not the only one that caught that.

  • ı can t watch this video.can you help me...please..ı need it...

  • press play

  • Really Cool Vid !

  • Great video!

  • lol in Us looks like it, fibre optics is the normal. UK fibre optic is a new thing

  • can anybody tell me what she is saying?

she was talking about a chemical reaction that leaves a white somethin can anybody tell me what she is saying i need it for a research paper so i need the exact spellin for it. it would be very greatly appreciated.

  • She's saying 'soot.'

  • HOW THE WORK

  • what is the name of this program it's awesome

  • This is just exactly what I've been looking for. Can Anyone tell me as to where I can get this video and others like it so that I can burn them to DVD so that I can use them in a classroom like setting.

    Thanks

  • There is a program that you can get to download music and video from YouTube, if your interested contact me and I'll look it up for you.

  • i m elecical engiring in Pakistan,i lrs from ur video many more modern information, thanks to put it,u can give us more modren technical videosPLease

  • Probably better investing in superior Wireless technology.

  • Yes, but wireless interferes/is interfered with easily, and can be hacked easily. Making wireless as fast as fiber optics would be extremely expensive. I read that airline companies sometime in the future will need to be upgraded just so that they will be able to function without interference from mobile phones.

  • i felt so sad that malaysia can not afford to use this useful technology, if fibre use as one of element to create better link in internet malaysian will be satisfied in downloading and surfing... it's all because weak politics and leak work from present government who rule by BN

  • Doesn't the glass break when you bend it so hard... How did they solve it?

  • They solve it just by the small size of the optic cable its so small that it is extremely flexible

  • think of it like small strands from a hot glue gun

  • This is what humanity should be about, innovation and invention.

  • @spaceorbison Yes! F&$% the corporations and f&^% the system! Let's rebuild a society that encourages the betterment of humanity. cheers!

  • It is really good showing, useful and beautiful. I sell fiber optic patch cord, but it is first time for me to know the process of fiber.

    Thanks a lot !!

  • I co-own a fiber optic business (FOTec: Fiber Optic Technologies) so I'm glad to find this video. It's interesting to see behind the scenes of what is currently driving the communications industry. Thank you for sharing!

  • this is kind of old. corning did tours at one point, you should look in to it !

  • This is one of discovery's shows: How it's made. You should tag it or rename it as such.

I doubt you'll have any problems with discovery as they are streaming episodes online on their website.

  • very informative video thanks for posting it, i work with fiber optics and optic connectors all day so this quenched my thirst for learning about them

  • This is realy very good for all people working on fiber.Thans for the posting.....Vishal Khare

  • then other crazy stuff like we have kids in high school preparing for jobs that arent even out yet to use technology yet to be invented to solve problems that have yet to effect us. if anyone has heard of anything like this can you give me a link to where i can watch it again, it was cool xD

  • i was watching this power point in my II class (Inventions and Inovations) it was actually really cool, then it talked about that weve developed fiber optic cords that carry like 1000k times (i think that was the number) the high speed internet with ethernet cords (meaning it can do 190 CD's a second) then also by like 2015 well have computers that can out compute the human mind, then by 2041 computers that can out do the human race. that was just an estimation tho. i really want to see it again

  • whoa!! thats so cool!

  • Seems like a really complicated process for what they get out of it... Interesting though.

  • Nice :D

  • wow

  • What an invention!!!! Ordinary people with extra ordinary ideas......EINSTEIN LEVEL!!!!

  • Do you actually believe that? cause i do... and i also do believe that there hasnt been any man on the moon..

  • Really? Bet you believe in Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny too.

Fooking idiots. Fools like to believe ANYTHING that is sensationalistic and/or rooted in conspiracy. Could you people possibly be any more predictable? Hey, here's a good one, remember that "tether" incident on the Space Shuttle? Which every one of these idiots said was proof of UFO's? But then turned out to be debris backlit by the sun? The degree of stupidity is mind-boggling. How dumb can people be?

    Get a life.

  • i watch this show nearly everyday! discoery channel rules!

  • thnx..great

  • Great video...thanx

  • Very good video. Thanks for sharing!

  • Till this day, there's no equipment strong enough to support the full potential of what a fiber optic circuit can transport.

  • Try the products of TXP Corporation (TXPO.OB). They will do the trick.

  • beautiful.

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmk
