He knew exactly why they wanted him, and he was fine with it, and it gave him a chance to come out of his shell and make people less afraid of his appearance. Instead of kids his age being like "OMG' WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE THAT?!", they were like "Oh neat it's the guy from that movie! I want to meet him!". It made him feel special.
