What I didn't get was the use of the HUGE bazooka L series in that ad...the horses weren't that far away, he could have used something a little smaller .... then again, hard to judge distance in a video, and I am sure he knows what he's doing ;)

If you can't quite afford the 7D another great option is the 60D.. Flip out screen is awesome for movie making. A fair amount cheaper as well. Although I do still think the 7D is amazing the 60D is not far behind and for a fraction of the price you'd be a fool not to. = ) Lovely video man.

Just wandering, i currently have a 450D which i've had for about 2 years now and i love it to bits, i just thought i need an upgrade now. Does anyone think the 450D to 7D is too big a jump and has anyone else here previously upgraded to a 7D from a 450D? thanks! Also does anyone know what song is used in this commercial?

The only thing that s keeping me from getting in right now is the money lol. it looks like an amazing camera though...i could not imagine why you wouldn't want it (can you work the 450 on manual mode and do you have a nice base of knowledge with reflex cameras (aperture, shutterspeed, histograms, etc etc)?), but, at worst, you can just sell it to me on eBay :)

@santoshlimbuthebe If you read my previous comment, you will see that it all depends on what your main purpose in using a DSLR is. If shooting video clips is what you prefer doing, and the flipout LCD and Manual Audio Levels make all the difference for you, then go for the 60D. Otherwise, I would look more into it. Either way, both cameras are brilliant. My main advice would be to invest in good glass (if you don't have any) prior to buying either model.

Don't buy a 7D, get a 60D instead. The flipout LCD, and the Manual Audio levels make it a no brainer. And it has the same ISO selection as the 7D, so it's all good.

@BenHughesStudios The 60D may have the same ISO selection, but the Canon 7D has a Dual DIGIC 4 image processor which gives you less noise when working in low light conditions and works faster. It also has 19 AF points and 8 FPS in addition to the 60D's 9 AF points and 5.3 FPS. Again, the 7D works better in capturing moving subjects. Also, the 7D's AF sensor is more sophisticated (better/more focus modes) than the 60D's fairly dated one; and of course, the build quality on the 7D is better.

I dont know if you've noticed, but people are using DSLRs for pro video work now. We won't be using burst mode and Auto focus for pro video work.

This is THE camera for sports and wildlife photographers. The AF system is lightning fast and extremely accurate which combined with the 8fps burst mode creates an ideal platform for shooting fast moving subjects (whether lions or athletes!).

To give my point of view,

Would you rather invest in a camera that has most of the 1series features, nad still perform very well according to budget? for the price of the 1D IV, you might as well get yourself a 7D and some good glass. I guess thats my opinion having previously owned a 1D mark IIN, you do feel the pinch of overcapitalizing when in business or in hobby. and to put simply, why do you need 10fps? 8 is plenty enough considering how good the buffer is.

Excellent! Canon's adverts in magazines do stand out in comparison to Nikon. Nikon seem to rely more on moody lighting of their camera's and flip out screens than the actual images - which is where canon's adverts have got it right.
