i'm going into my sophomore and i'm gong to be the starter on varsity and my longest punt was 70 yards past the line of scrimmage, which in total yards was 70.
Great punt itzjordan1 is a dumbass, but yea all the advice below is great im going into my last year of highschool my furthest ever was an 83 yard punt albiet a little wind at my back, but keept it up and widen your repitoire cuz if you can punt kick feild goals and do kcikoff your chances of making ti skyrocket, my furthest field goal was 55 yards(no tee) but i had wind at my back again and i've put kickoffs out of the endzone
I swear. Im a freshman now and i kicked for my JV team. my average kick off is 55-60 yards. my farthest fieldo goal in practice is 45 (on the ground. no tee) and punts average 45-50. i have some videos on youtube if u care to see.
im a kicker and punter to but im not at the college level, and i was wondering if u could give me some tips on how to be really really good like u...thanks.
hey i punt in high school and i notice that after a week of punting everyday (about 150 times a day) that my leg at the end of the day is soo tired. it gets tired and then i dont follow through the kick or anything. my quads always feel sore too. is this something developing that will injure me later in life?
I don't think it could lead to serious injury, but you shouldn't punt more than 50 balls at practice. 150 is way too much, you will develop muscle memory that will not work in your favor because you are tired, sore, don't follow through, alter your form, etc.
ya ive noticed that in the last 50-ish. my leg gets tired and i dont follow through and i slice the ball like crazy which makes it go end over end and not give me a tight spiral.
alright thanks. this season i lowered my number of punts a day to about 50. i do notice that im not as tired and i dont have to ice my leg as much. thank you gaborsviatko and amjadshehadeh for the replies
@jackriot109 I am also a highschool punter. Senior to be clear. Last year was my first year playing and I did the same as you. I would get TONS of reps in thinking I was just getting better, but in reality youre just holding yourself back. Being sore means youre not getting stronger. What I do is I take a good 10minute warm up of stretching then take about 10-15 easy, just trying to get loose, kicks, and then take a break. Then stretch a little more and hit about the same number of hard kicks.
i had hopes of punting at Oregon State last year. I was punting to returners there, hitting consistent 60's and 65's (75 yd bounce, 4.5-5 sec HT) it was incredibly satisfying. accumulated small but debilitating tears in the hamstring. let it be a lesson to anyone who has big goals as a punter - PLEASE make sure you take good care (REST) your leg. things to work on if you want to play top college ball - 2.0-2.4 sec between catch & kick, directional control, good hangtime. good luck to everyone.
invest in a good camera to show ur form upclose. have a 2nd video to show the overall kick (elevated view) (spiral, distance, does the ball turnover).punting is an art n the pro's will recognize that immediately in a few kicks.consistancy is key n learn'n how to kick in2 w/ the elements. mark the distance from the line of scrimmage to whr the ball hits the ground. exclude the roll after it hits the ground. keep going and master the art. probly the hardest thing in football to perfect.good luck.
I believe a punt from the own 35 (that's where the LOS is) to 5 deep in the end zone IS a 70yd punt. Maybe you should check out my other videos if you are in doubt.
hey man ur pretty good i kick too. punts and field goals.. field goal long- 48 nad punt- 72 but im only a freshman in highschool.. so we'll c how that works out. send me a message back. cya dude and good luck !
Thanks! Unfortunately I just started grad school, my 5th year of college studies and my last chance to play college football was this fall (unless I could appeal, but probably not). I had a chance to punt at Oregon State this fall, but no scholarship, no punting. Thanks though, I'll train myself all of next year to perform better at next year's NFLE tryout.
Well it looks like you have plenty of game tape, which is good if you're trying to get into a D1 College. All you have to do is just pick out some colleges you want to go to, and send them your game tape! You'll definitely make it, and the game tape proves that! Good luck if you choose to go that route!
nice kick.

Im in 8th grade and i can punt a ball 50 yards and kick it 55 yards. I am wondering how that is compared to your kicks in 8th grade.

No you can't.

it's not the quantity of kicks its the quality. i would rather have 30 good kicks than 150 decent ones.
