I'm not convinced that what Miles said is what he actually felt. I think that Miles understood the ebb & flow of celebrity. I think that a lot of what he said was merely him being "charismatic". He's human, so there were aspects of his character that spoke to some unscrupulous behavior. Nonetheless, I don't think anyone will ever no to what extent was he "pulling our leg". Part of the mystique that was his persona IS the fact that we would never know his true motives. Just my opinion...
Miles was a musical genius and was all about the music and everything else was second to him. Me on the other hand I have been playing for 20 years and play quite well too (so Ive been told) but my family is first. Thats why I have a wonderful family and not a wonderful musical career like Miles. And Visa versa for Miles too.
Good point, but most of of the trouble of miles is that he lived in America, where jazz was not recieved anhe was black. Those are just the facts, I mean if you read his autobiography,he mentions how he is treated like royalty everywhere but hre in America. He wanted to live and be married to Julliete Grecco but society would have made them suffer, they decided to just be lovers. Imagine you want to marry someone that society condems and that person wants to marry you as well, but you can't.
Genius can get away with that nonsence. Just put an unknown virtuoso on stage with his back to the audience and see how fast he is boo'd off the stage. established greats can get away with nonsence that unknowns cant. Its always been about who you know rather then what you know. Ive known incredible musicians that easily rival MIles however they died in obscurity because they were unknown. Thats sad but thats life
@RedPortiaOne The Great thing about music and live is some people are just unique what might be nonsense to some might be great to others.I think Miles is one of the greats, point blank,I don't get caught up on if he turned his back on the audience who cares its about the music.
so oftenly shewing gum in interviews why is that ?

Now, i doubt that i will ever feel the need to wear a wig.
But if i ever do, i will feel good about it
because the coolest man on earth, Miles Davis did it.
