I'm pretty sure I said crash site. The "Crash Site Memorial" is placed on the spot where Buddy Holly's body was persumably found. Sorry for the confusion :)
I would love to be there to show my respect to each musician. I bet it felt eerie to be there but a bit of sadness as well. is the crash site as hard to find like many people say???
Thanks paul2008uk. When you get to this side of the pond, you must check out all the music spots...Elvis's mansion in Memphis, Sun Records Memphis Tenn., Grand Ol Opery in Nashville and the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Museum in Cleveland Ohio :) and when I go to England, nI have to go to EMI Abby Road.
Thank you I would look forward to visiting those music spots someday it is sad buddy died young but his music still lives on and i still to visit Abby Road myself yet!.
the first week in February is sad week because not only of this tragic day but less then 12 months before on the 6th February 1958 the munich air crash happened 23 people died including 8 great footballers. I would to visit the places like surf ball room you showed in the video and the spot were buddy died.
Nice video, but just for the record. The Buddy Holly Crash Site is north of Clear Lake, Iowa. The Airport is in Mason City. The Surf Ballroom is open M-F 9-4 for self guided tours.
Thanks so much for the great video! I made the same visit in 1999 but in an 18 wheeler. I'm guessing that manager doesn't turn away visitors. Pat Benetar and Kenny Rogers were scheduled to perform there soon. There were no crops in the field during my visit, but it was still a slow walk. On that day the manager said that the marker had only been at the crash site for 12 years. It was a great day for me.
You're welcome. The manager was very cool to us. At the end of his tour (Surf Ballroom) he pulls out the original marquee letters used that night. I guess it was stuck in the safe all those years.
i was there not that long ago it was a week ago i was there i saw slash's hat and guitar.
