the guitarist in this particular video isnt jessie taylor.....he has a david grissom "look" (later played fulltime w\ely before leaving for john mellencamp) or perhaps the regular bandmate of accordian player but its definately not the jessie "guitar " taylor of lubbock\origional band member
I saw Joe Ely for the first time around the time of this video at the world famous Palms Playhouse in Davis, CA. He was even wearing that shirt. This band totally blew me away, I had never seen such a brilliant performers. The lead guitar player is Jesse "Guitar" Taylor who died in 2006. Joe and Jesse walked off a roofing job together in the 70's and started a band. A few years later were opening for the Clash.
How did i miss this one? I only saw it on Joe's Myspace page, thanks to you Slim! Thank you Slim for also posting my vid of Joe at the Tribeca Rock'n Roll Club. Got some more great video of Joe coming soon! I encourage his fans to pick up his latest acoustic CD Live Cactus! with Joel Guzman.
Can't tell you how many times i danced to Joe and this song , in particular, when i was in college at Texas Tech. I don't know if anybody knows just how big Joe Ely is, but he is revered where i come from. Love Ya Joe. Keep it Kickin.
Dublin thanks so much..Joe wipes me out when he does FINGERNAILS. I think it's the song that actually NAILED me into being one of his many "number one" fans. Great job!

They're all my band, Slim's Cyder Co.
We opened for Joe, who was playing a solo show, and I offered him the band to finish the show.
The guitarist is Paul Seacroft.
If you look at my other videos, you can see us backing Jesse Taylor on another occasion.

I saw Joe do a version of this on TV years ago, with Wilko Johnson guesting on guitar! Wish I could find that on youtube somewhere...
