There were parts of both that I loved. I love the story of the first one, and I love the dark atmosphere of the 2nd. I love the influence system and how they included lightsaber and force forms into the 2nd. I love the characters from the 1st, Jolee, Canderous, Malak, Calo. I prefer the original though. If the first game had the stuff in the 2nd, it would be the BEST GAME EVER!

I never played the 1st one but from what i seen and heard it sounds like a classic, as far as KOTOR2 that shit was genius, although i wished they would have added all that content that the modders are putting out
If you play KotOR 2 with the Restored Content Mod, it's really quite a masterpiece of it's own, everything makes so much more sense. I think KotOR 2 + RCM is just about comparable to KotOR 1. Both games are pretty much friggin amazing either way lol, seriously the best games ever...
While I agree, Telos was very difficult at first and I relied heavily on my party as well don't forgot for the first couple of hours of KOTOR I u had no lightsaber, at least in KOTOR II you had powers
Both games are amazing, but the way I decide which is better is not by the graphics, or the number of improvements made. I decide by the overall experience I had playing the game; to me the first game truely touched upon all the aspects of Star Wars that we love. Sure the second game was cool, dark, had many new features, but to me it felt rushed and had an unsatisfying ending which left me open for more.
On KOTOR 1 I always use either a double-bladed lightsaber or two lightsabers but whenever I try and do that on KOTOR 2, I miss every hit and so I have to use a single bladed lightsaber.
I love both games. 2 was really easy but fun to experiment. 1 was just that classic I won't ever get bored of. The characters (Like you said) in 1 were a lot better. 2, the only characters I liked were HK-47 and he was in the last game and Kreia. Kreia, you could talk to a lot from and was interesting. Kotor 2, more advanced in level ups and all, but the classic kotor 1, my personal fav
I think both of them are great but the characters in 2 all had complete storys about them and (not like it really matters) kotor 2 had more romance while in kotor one it was carth for female and bastila for male. Also in kotor 2 you can be a sith throughout the whole game and take your party members as sith (or jedi) apprentices but I have to say that Kreia/Darth Traya is possibly the greatist NPC in either game because she is a complete mystery, yet she is your greatist mentor
I like kotor1 better than 2. 2 is fun but can get kind of annoying. Especially cause of kriea. The endings are awful too, they leave soo much open. However I do love both games. And hopefully there will be a kotor 3.
i believe kotor 2 was meant to end on a cliffhanger but they never bothered to make a 3rd game. too bad i would have liked to see if Revan and the Exile join forces
Kotor 1: was fantastic story and semi-okay gameplay.
Kotor 2: fantastic gameplay(in terms of upgrades/actions) but lacking in story.
the envirement of kotor 1 was kind bright and happy where kotor 2 was dark and creepy which made it pretty cool in fact the whole vibe of kotor 2 was amazing for the story was pretty dark. honestly i loved both however im more of a story fan than a gameplay fan so id hafta say that in my opinion kotor 1 was better.

honestly i thought KOTOR2 was better i liked how dark the story was i think this may have been the first game where i actually felt connected with the characters (yes i know that was a nerdy comment) it felt like they had more personality then in the first one also bastila wasn't in it (come on is there really anyone whose a fan of her) dont get me wrong i liked kotor1 i just think this ones just a little better
I agree with your point on the characters not being so clear cut but that was because they would change to suit your alignment based on your influence over them. So it would have been a bit ridiculous having a character who has turned evil saying light sided things.
I really like the story on kotor but i like everything on kotor 2 accept from the story. I wouldn't mind Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion on kotor. BTW Not Kreia she should probs get stabbed by a jawa.

@flipmaster5 yea i played it on my 360. it is a little laggy tho cuz the 360 has to read the game differently from the original xbox. but i still loved the game and the story. it has a great twist that i didnt see coming. you'll understand when u play it. but anyway its a great game. i definitely recommend getting it. especially since its cheap now. i actually got mine for free on a buy 1 xbox game get one free at gamestop. hahaha they dont know that i got a steal. hahaha

The combat "moves" are better in two, that I like, it's not the same old "Critical hit" move, it varries, same with every, more so the basic attack with no drawbacks

Because, when your bad you can say "YES BASTILA COME WITH ME" Or be like "STFU BITCH, IM REVAN BOW DOWN!" Then "Noo im a serveant of life." I beat KOTOR 1, 3 times. On dark two times and light once. Then I beat KOTOR 2, twice. Dark and light. Both awesome, Both 10.0
I think KOTOR 1 is better, though KOTOR 2 is brilliant as well.
The influence system in KOTOR 2 was a nice feature, it was cool trying to discover all the characters back stories, but the ending for KOTOR2 was too abrupt and unsatisfying.
KOTOR 1 has a better ending, and i just like it better because of the genius plot twist, and how the last section of the game was different depending on whether you were light or dark.

Kotor was great, the only truly interesting character in it however was Jolee Bindo, who is still one of my favorite characters. Kotor 2 makes you question everything you used to think about the Light/Dark side. In Kotor 2 it makes you wonder if the light side does more harm than good and if the Jedi teachings are flawed. It also makes the Dark side Dark, in Kotor 1 you felt like the people on the Dark side were bullies who steals lunch money, in Kotor 2 you feel like they are purely evil.
one thing for kotor2's defense is that due to a deal that Lucas arts has in order to make starwars games they had a short deadline compared to what they wanted so they had to cut out a lot...... if they had more time it would probably have been better
i have to say kotor 1 was by far the best out of the two and the reason for that is the fact that you never get to know your caricatures vary well and there isn't that star wars charm to your party, like in number one they showed emotion in there reactions and they had a better mood system then in number two in kotor 2 the caricatures were always in a depressed state or always sad and angry

The thing i loved about knights two, is the fact that you can change the characters in your group to become evil or good. and rushing through #2 isnt a great idea ... its based off of the characters so talking to all of them for hours on end (its boring i know) helps to learn when the plot is going... id give #2 atleast a 7/10 tbqh
I agree with you to some extent. I LIKED kotor 2, but I LOVE kotor. Kotor wins hands down. Kotor is actually my favorite game ever. kotor 2 I agree didn't have much of a plot. I felt a sort of like there were many interesting plot points scattered throughout the game that just failed to link up. I'd give it a 7 personally, while I'd give kotor a 10 of 10. I find that the cut content was a big issue.
I also just wanted to stress that I enjoyed the NPCs in the original much more than Kotor 2. i loved jolee, bastila, carth, canderous, and Hk-47 and the others were alright, not great but not bad. I HATED disciple, bao dur, and Go-to and found kreia interesting but difficult to please, and atton almost schizo as to whether he liked me or not and visas was more servant than friend. I didn't like the relationships kotor 2, I loved them in kotor and that's the difference 4 me.
@fortisKID It had nothing to do with Obsidian making it. The people at Obsidian are probably even more talented than the ones at Bioware, which is saying A LOT. The problem was that Lucas Arts pushed them and pushed them to bang out the game on a ridiculous schedule, then ended up pulling the rug out from under them and releasing it before it was even finished.
KOTOR 2 is definitely broken, but it's Lucas Arts' fault, not Obsidian's.

i feel in love with all the characters from KOTOR i could never bring myself to kill jolee and juhani at the climax but in KOTOR 2 i like to get vengence on the jedi IMO kotor is a great game as far as star wars goes but KOTOR 2 is just so dark and so full of mystery behind every corner i like both storylines being 1 you are a former sith master with memorie loss and 2 you are "the death of the force" KOTOR is better but i love KOTOR 2s darkside
@JMDub89 in kotor 2 it is really opening up options for the old republic sadly its not a kotor 3 but it has content for revan/exile. when the ship flies away for light side the exile is leaving into deep space to join revan in the fight against the true sith. and when the camera zooms away the exile stays to learn the ways of the darkside and eventually withstand the demise of malachor v. its all about state of mind.
I already knew what each ending meant; that was explained during the game.
I do not think Kotor 2's endings were initially meant to open up options for The Old Republic, however, because they were designing Kotor 3 at this point, until it got cancelled. TOR wasn't even announced until about 3 years after Kotor 2's release.
Not to mention that Kotor 2's endings were originally suppossed to have a LOT more it them, but tons of content got cut because they were rushed.
Don't get me wrong, Kotor 2 was a good game, and I understand what you mean about the endings, but I still thought the endings were lackluster compared to Kotor 1's, because nothing really happened in Kotor 2's endings (your ship flies away or the camera zooms away from the planet, whoopee...). If all that content hadn't been cut due to a rushed deadline, Kotor 2 would have been a LOT better. :)

That's one of the game's biggest selling points, besides it being fully voiced. I strongly urge you to look up "The Old Republic" on Wikipedia.

I've played both games many a time, kotor 1 is better, I played the second one and was rather disapointed compared to the first. The first one was just a lot more developed and the beginning didn't suck as much. (they booth take hours, but the first one was more developing and exciting)
KotOR 1 is better in a sense of background story and subtle twists, while KotOR 2 was better in equipment and combat. But combat dosent always make a game good...Too Human. I always go with KotOR 1 in these debates

KOTOR 2 better than KOTOR 1 as many of you write here? Hello? I can't believe what I am reading. The only points in favour of KOTOR 2 are some characters (Kreia, the blond girl and the blind girl) and that you can develope some into Jedis. And yes, that influence thing on your group. Everything else was MUCH better in KOTOR 1: The story, the locations, the grand finale. It even looked better. They shouuld have left KOTOR 2 with Bioware. I'm sure it would have been another masterpiece.
I agree. Also, I have to say that the grand finale of KOTOR 2 isn't even worthy of being called grand. It was like reading a book, then skipping to the last page when you have forty more pages to go. It explained nothing at all. Like, for example, what happened to all of your party members?

The reason - as I figured it out - is: you have always a good reason for making a first game: story, enthusiasm, new ideas. if this game is successful you are pressed to make another one - mostly for financial reasons. (It's the old story with all those bloody film sequals)

I love both games but i like KotOR II better because its just so fun bending your party members to your will. Where in KotOR I you feel like you've had no real impact on anyone except Bastilla at the end of the game
i actually liked kotor 2 better, the storyline is alot more interesting and i like the characters alot. The unknown and dark story kept me liking this game and i think the replayability isnt that bad. overall i'd give kotor 1 9/10 and kotor 2 9.5/10 dont get me wrong though kotor 1 is a great game as well.
DAMN i own kotor2 but havent played kotor 1, so doing that i basically ruined both for myself, because i didnt have a clue what everyone was on about in kotor 2 and all secrecy will be taken out of kotor 1 :(
Kotor 1 is better it took me longer to beat1 one than2 see 2 in every way is rushed in fact I beat it in 3 days part one however took me months to beat on the other hand 2 is a much more open universe there are tons of stuff to but the first time you play is the last time the twist will have no dramatic affect on part 1 the twist might not work twice but the story lets you play as many times as possible

Honestly if it wasn't for reviews like this, I could very well have missed out on a fantastic game. I just recently got through my first play-through (light-side consular!) and now plan on going dark side consular!
in my opinion kotor 2 was more exciting and better then kotor however kotor had a way better story line and i find it interesting that of all the things discussed no one bothered to mention the most coolest thing about these games the force powers kotor 2 has much more choice whilst in story it is lacking an was perhaps rushed i found kotor 2 alot more fun to play but kotor was more exciting story wise as in you coldn't wait for the ending kotor 9.5/10 kotor2 9/10 swtor will rock
i LOVE kotor 1 but the 1 thing i dont like about kotor 2 is that i think it was a little rushed id give kotor 1 also a 9.8/10 but id give kotor 2 a 7/10 because u diddnt connect as much and it takes so long just to get a lightsaber also some of the controls were confusing like i diddnt really understand the stationary and ranger stuff i just thought i would just do in kotor 1 and just attack any1 and ik that would go under aggressive but to the brand new players even w/ the tutorial its confusin
am expecting part 1 to arrive to my house in about a hour or so....i played part 2 but i never beat it. beaten part 1 it was so cool i played part 1 like 10 times when i was a kid i cant wait to play it
KOTOR 2 is way better than KOTOR 1 because KOTOR1 is easier than the 2nd because you don't really have to fight darth malak, you can turn him into a dancer. in the 2nd you have to fight alot of darth's that can beat the crud out of you.

The fact you had more jedi, or sith if you turn them some of your allies into it, was actually pretty nice, it wasn't as typical as the first one although that was pretty interesting being the dark lord. And what was really awesome was being able to become different classes of Sith. Obsidian has potential to make some more nice games. Oh and the Darths in the first one, I didn't really think they were as awesome as Nihilus. opinion.
Finally.. I understand why people are pissed off that bits were cut from the game. That too pisses me off because it shows LucasArts puts profit over its customers at a ridiculous scale. However Gizka are adding much of the cut content back in the game so do not judge TSL until you have played it how it should have been played. For me the rushed ending is the ONLY reason why it might be inferior to Kotor 1 but thats because of LucasArts, dont blame Obsidian.
Everything was there to be found in the game which made it very compelling. The characters and missions were made to be confusing on purpose because its the players mission for these things to reveal themselves. Not following a typical Star Wars pattern was revolutionary and I dont understand why people slam this aspect. Kotor 1 had the 'good guy' stopping the bad guy.. very familiar. Kotor 2 we dont really know who the good and bad people are.. everythings in question. Thats the beauty of it.
I disagree. I rate both games evenly as both have their strong points over the other. Kotor 1's are pointed in here. Kotor 2, however had many including the prestige classes giving your character added powers was a major plus. Also the storyline was different not worse. It was a darker storyline with everything in the unknown, nothing was clear which made it very unique. Almost every character had dark, tormenting pasts in relation to the unknown secretive enemy.
Good review, I agree, Kotor 1 wins for me though because of the initial shock of playing such an excellent game, so going into KOTOR 2 one naturally has high expectations, I hired out KOTOR 1 because it was the only game left at the video shop, not realising it was and still is the best game ive ever played.

Exile's: Atton, Bao-Dur, Handmaiden/Brianna, Mira, and GOTO.
T3-M4, HK-47 and Canderous/Mandalore were with both parties, HK-47 is unconditionally loyal to Revan).
After Mass Effect 3 is out Bioware and Obsidian should take their time and cooperate to make Kotor 3.

On KOTOR 1 I always use either a double-bladed lightsaber or two lightsabers but whenever I try and do that on KOTOR 2, I miss every hit and so I have to use a single bladed lightsaber.

I love both games. 2 was really easy but fun to experiment. 1 was just that classic I won't ever get bored of. The characters (Like you said) in 1 were a lot better. 2, the only characters I liked were HK-47 and he was in the last game and Kreia. Kreia, you could talk to a lot from and was interesting. Kotor 2, more advanced in level ups and all, but the classic kotor 1, my personal fav

I think both of them are great but the characters in 2 all had complete storys about them and (not like it really matters) kotor 2 had more romance while in kotor one it was carth for female and bastila for male. Also in kotor 2 you can be a sith throughout the whole game and take your party members as sith (or jedi) apprentices but I have to say that Kreia/Darth Traya is possibly the greatist NPC in either game because she is a complete mystery, yet she is your greatist mentor

Kotor 2's story was the best one, the story was made to make you think and was meant to make you think, and was definitely darker than the 1st.
Oh and it takes you a while to get a lightsaber in both games, the 2nd because you build it out of scratch there is no jedi council

I like kotor1 better than 2. 2 is fun but can get kind of annoying. Especially cause of kriea. The endings are awful too, they leave soo much open. However I do love both games. And hopefully there will be a kotor 3.

Kotor 1: was fantastic story and semi-okay gameplay.
Kotor 2: fantastic gameplay(in terms of upgrades/actions) but lacking in story.
the envirement of kotor 1 was kind bright and happy where kotor 2 was dark and creepy which made it pretty cool in fact the whole vibe of kotor 2 was amazing for the story was pretty dark. honestly i loved both however im more of a story fan than a gameplay fan so id hafta say that in my opinion kotor 1 was better.

honestly i thought KOTOR2 was better i liked how dark the story was i think this may have been the first game where i actually felt connected with the characters (yes i know that was a nerdy comment) it felt like they had more personality then in the first one also bastila wasn't in it (come on is there really anyone whose a fan of her) dont get me wrong i liked kotor1 i just think this ones just a little better

I agree with your point on the characters not being so clear cut but that was because they would change to suit your alignment based on your influence over them. So it would have been a bit ridiculous having a character who has turned evil saying light sided things.

@flipmaster5 yea i played it on my 360. it is a little laggy tho cuz the 360 has to read the game differently from the original xbox. but i still loved the game and the story. it has a great twist that i didnt see coming. you'll understand when u play it. but anyway its a great game. i definitely recommend getting it. especially since its cheap now. i actually got mine for free on a buy 1 xbox game get one free at gamestop. hahaha they dont know that i got a steal. hahaha

The combat "moves" are better in two, that I like, it's not the same old "Critical hit" move, it varries, same with every, more so the basic attack with no drawbacks

I like Both games, but to say KOTOR 2 is bad is ridiculous. its easily one of the best Star wars games to come out.
One thing I forgot to mention about Kotor 2 was the Music. the Music on KOTOR 2 was so well done it blew me away.
I couldn't believe they spend that much time on Music for a game.

Over all KOTOR 2 had a much more mysterious feel to it that kept you wondering.
and as far as the ending I saw KOTOR 1's ending to be cheesy. KOTOR 2 may have had sort of a cliff hanger... but it was tragic, interesting, and a lot more Mature then KOTOR 1's ending

Story Line for Kotor 2: Woman betrayed by both the Jedi and the Sith decides they're both wrong and wants to destroy the Force. She also comes to the conclusion that the light side robs people of the strength needed to grow, while the dark side consumes you and while it despises weakness it does nothing to make people stronger. There's a lot more to it but...

I think KOTOR 1 is better, though KOTOR 2 is brilliant as well.
The influence system in KOTOR 2 was a nice feature, it was cool trying to discover all the characters back stories, but the ending for KOTOR2 was too abrupt and unsatisfying.
KOTOR 1 has a better ending, and i just like it better because of the genius plot twist, and how the last section of the game was different depending on whether you were light or dark.
I own and like both, but i think KOTOR 1 is better.

Kotor was great, the only truly interesting character in it however was Jolee Bindo, who is still one of my favorite characters. Kotor 2 makes you question everything you used to think about the Light/Dark side. In Kotor 2 it makes you wonder if the light side does more harm than good and if the Jedi teachings are flawed. It also makes the Dark side Dark, in Kotor 1 you felt like the people on the Dark side were bullies who steals lunch money, in Kotor 2 you feel like they are purely evil.

one thing for kotor2's defense is that due to a deal that Lucas arts has in order to make starwars games they had a short deadline compared to what they wanted so they had to cut out a lot...... if they had more time it would probably have been better

i have to say kotor 1 was by far the best out of the two and the reason for that is the fact that you never get to know your caricatures vary well and there isn't that star wars charm to your party, like in number one they showed emotion in there reactions and they had a better mood system then in number two in kotor 2 the caricatures were always in a depressed state or always sad and angry

The thing i loved about knights two, is the fact that you can change the characters in your group to become evil or good. and rushing through #2 isnt a great idea ... its based off of the characters so talking to all of them for hours on end (its boring i know) helps to learn when the plot is going... id give #2 atleast a 7/10 tbqh

I agree with you to some extent. I LIKED kotor 2, but I LOVE kotor. Kotor wins hands down. Kotor is actually my favorite game ever. kotor 2 I agree didn't have much of a plot. I felt a sort of like there were many interesting plot points scattered throughout the game that just failed to link up. I'd give it a 7 personally, while I'd give kotor a 10 of 10. I find that the cut content was a big issue.

I also just wanted to stress that I enjoyed the NPCs in the original much more than Kotor 2. i loved jolee, bastila, carth, canderous, and Hk-47 and the others were alright, not great but not bad. I HATED disciple, bao dur, and Go-to and found kreia interesting but difficult to please, and atton almost schizo as to whether he liked me or not and visas was more servant than friend. I didn't like the relationships kotor 2, I loved them in kotor and that's the difference 4 me.

@fortisKID It had nothing to do with Obsidian making it. The people at Obsidian are probably even more talented than the ones at Bioware, which is saying A LOT. The problem was that Lucas Arts pushed them and pushed them to bang out the game on a ridiculous schedule, then ended up pulling the rug out from under them and releasing it before it was even finished.
KOTOR 2 is definitely broken, but it's Lucas Arts' fault, not Obsidian's.

Got a little juiced toward the end...then it ended. WAAAY too soon. It was like they thought making it darker would replace all the substance it lacked!

Kotor 2 has no ending:
-Light Side ending: Your ship flies away.
-Dark Side ending: Camera zooms away from the planet.
Now let's look at Kotor 1:
-Light Side ending: You destroy the Star Forge, and recieve a hero's welcome upon your return, where you are praised as heroes of the Republic.
-Dark Sid ending: You destroy the Republic fleet, become Sith Lord, and proudly watch as your infinite fleet rolls forth to crush the Republic.

@JMDub89 in kotor 2 it is really opening up options for the old republic sadly its not a kotor 3 but it has content for revan/exile. when the ship flies away for light side the exile is leaving into deep space to join revan in the fight against the true sith. and when the camera zooms away the exile stays to learn the ways of the darkside and eventually withstand the demise of malachor v. its all about state of mind.

I already knew what each ending meant; that was explained during the game.
I do not think Kotor 2's endings were initially meant to open up options for The Old Republic, however, because they were designing Kotor 3 at this point, until it got cancelled. TOR wasn't even announced until about 3 years after Kotor 2's release.
Not to mention that Kotor 2's endings were originally suppossed to have a LOT more it them, but tons of content got cut because they were rushed.

Don't get me wrong, Kotor 2 was a good game, and I understand what you mean about the endings, but I still thought the endings were lackluster compared to Kotor 1's, because nothing really happened in Kotor 2's endings (your ship flies away or the camera zooms away from the planet, whoopee...). If all that content hadn't been cut due to a rushed deadline, Kotor 2 would have been a LOT better. :)

That's one of the game's biggest selling points, besides it being fully voiced. I strongly urge you to look up "The Old Republic" on Wikipedia.
Here's one thing they say about the story: "Players' choices will permanently open or close storylines and affect players' non-player character (NPC) companions... The game's developers believe that the game will provide more context for characters' missions and quests than other MMORPGs offer."

I've played both games many a time, kotor 1 is better, I played the second one and was rather disapointed compared to the first. The first one was just a lot more developed and the beginning didn't suck as much. (they booth take hours, but the first one was more developing and exciting)

KOTOR 2 better than KOTOR 1 as many of you write here? Hello? I can't believe what I am reading. The only points in favour of KOTOR 2 are some characters (Kreia, the blond girl and the blind girl) and that you can develope some into Jedis. And yes, that influence thing on your group. Everything else was MUCH better in KOTOR 1: The story, the locations, the grand finale. It even looked better. They shouuld have left KOTOR 2 with Bioware. I'm sure it would have been another masterpiece.

thank you. IMO game 1 generally tends to be better than game 2. (there are many exeptions, of course.) The reason - as I figured it out - is: you have always a good reason for making a first game: story, enthusiasm, new ideas. if this game is successful you are pressed to make another one - mostly for financial reasons. (It's the old story with all those bloody film sequals)

The unknown and dark story kept me liking this game and i think the replayability isnt that bad. overall i'd give kotor 1 9/10 and kotor 2 9.5/10 dont get me wrong though kotor 1 is a great game as well.

Kotor 1 is better it took me longer to beat1 one than2 see 2 in every way is rushed in fact I beat it in 3 days part one however took me months to beat on the other hand 2 is a much more open universe there are tons of stuff to but the first time you play is the last time the twist will have no dramatic affect on part 1 the twist might not work twice but the story lets you play as many times as possible

KOTOR had a bigger twist with the fact that you are the former sith master but KOTOR 2 was way more darker and mysterious your allies were as mysterious as your enimies espescally darth traya who in my opinion was the best character in game history

Nice review! ^^ Reviews like this are what convinced me to actually hunt down the first kotor (no longer being produced) instead of just buying the second one at target for $20. Honestly if it wasn't for reviews like this, I could very well have missed out on a fantastic game. I just recently got through my first play-through (light-side consular!) and now plan on going dark side consular!

in my opinion kotor 2 was more exciting and better then kotor however kotor had a way better story line and i find it interesting that of all the things discussed no one bothered to mention the most coolest thing about these games the force powers kotor 2 has much more choice whilst in story it is lacking an was perhaps rushed i found kotor 2 alot more fun to play but kotor was more exciting story wise as in you coldn't wait for the ending kotor 9.5/10 kotor2 9/10 swtor will rock

i LOVE kotor 1 but the 1 thing i dont like about kotor 2 is that i think it was a little rushed id give kotor 1 also a 9.8/10 but id give kotor 2 a 7/10 because u diddnt connect as much and it takes so long just to get a lightsaber also some of the controls were confusing like i diddnt really understand the stationary and ranger stuff i just thought i would just do in kotor 1 and just attack any1 and ik that would go under aggressive but to the brand new players even w/ the tutorial its confusin

KOTOR 2 is way better than KOTOR 1 because KOTOR1 is easier than the 2nd because you don't really have to fight darth malak, you can turn him into a dancer. in the 2nd you have to fight alot of darth's that can beat the crud out of you.

Actually kotor 2 was actually alot better than you rated it.
The fact you had more jedi, or sith if you turn them some of your allies into it, was actually pretty nice, it wasn't as typical as the first one although that was pretty interesting being the dark lord. And what was really awesome was being able to become different classes of Sith. Obsidian has potential to make some more nice games. Oh and the Darths in the first one, I didn't really think they were as awesome as Nihilus. opinion.

Finally.. I understand why people are pissed off that bits were cut from the game. That too pisses me off because it shows LucasArts puts profit over its customers at a ridiculous scale. However Gizka are adding much of the cut content back in the game so do not judge TSL until you have played it how it should have been played. For me the rushed ending is the ONLY reason why it might be inferior to Kotor 1 but thats because of LucasArts, dont blame Obsidian.

Everything was there to be found in the game which made it very compelling. The characters and missions were made to be confusing on purpose because its the players mission for these things to reveal themselves. Not following a typical Star Wars pattern was revolutionary and I dont understand why people slam this aspect. Kotor 1 had the 'good guy' stopping the bad guy.. very familiar. Kotor 2 we dont really know who the good and bad people are.. everythings in question. Thats the beauty of it.

I disagree. I rate both games evenly as both have their strong points over the other. Kotor 1's are pointed in here. Kotor 2, however had many including the prestige classes giving your character added powers was a major plus. Also the storyline was different not worse. It was a darker storyline with everything in the unknown, nothing was clear which made it very unique. Almost every character had dark, tormenting pasts in relation to the unknown secretive enemy.

Good review, I agree, Kotor 1 wins for me though because of the initial shock of playing such an excellent game, so going into KOTOR 2 one naturally has high expectations, I hired out KOTOR 1 because it was the only game left at the video shop, not realising it was and still is the best game ive ever played.

Smuggler? I think you meant scout, a scoundrel is basically a smuggler. They hint around about it in the very beginning when you talk to trask.

Kotor 1 and two are both great games, Kotor 2 showed improvements to the gameplay. But Kotor 1 had a much better storyline, while Kotor's 2 was ok but it just flopped around.

I feel exactly the same KOTOR 1 you were the chosen one/Sitari, in KOTOR 2 your're a Jedi/Sith exile who has a much more simple and boring story to tell than Revan = WE NEED A KOTOR 2 EXPANSION PACK !!!!!!!!!!!!! The story: The exile finds Revan and both parties (Revan's: Carth, Mission, Zalbar, Bastila, Juhani, and Jolee
Exile's: Atton, Bao-Dur, Handmaiden/Brianna, Mira, and GOTO.
T3-M4, HK-47 and Canderous/Mandalore were with both parties, HK-47 is unconditionally loyal to Revan).
