In Texas Bow Fishing is legal in all waters except on "State Park" property. Regulations say; Gar, Grass Carp, Buffalo Carp, and Tilapia are fair game with no limits what so ever. These species are invasive and reduce the freshwater game fish population. For turtles and frogs you have to have a hunting license. I am a bass, crappie, cat and even every variation of perch fisherman and I also bow fish. If you have a fishing license you can bow fish.

I did see the red fish but, per Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries, It is legal there. The red fish population there is greater than here so they allow it. As a bow fisher and angler I see both as being challenging, angling U either use technique to entice a bite or a fat piece of shrimp or crab. Bow fishing you have to see it B4 it sees U and then make a shot at a running fish. As long as they take the legal limit and eat what they take I see nothing wrong. Things are different there.
