  • Surely after all his world wide efforts , Michael Reynolds deserves a Nobel Peace Prize ? Oh no lets award one to Obama for bringing death & destruction to countless thousands of human beings around the world .

    .

  • at the second, old tires will have any value, this programe will collaps.

  • I am a carpenter and construction worker who is sitting here unemployed and aching to go help. All I want is some food and a dry place to sleep. I am also one who feels they are in the middle of the herd that is running off of a cliff and I don't want to go. Michael Reynolds has incorporated all the the things that I have considered great ideas for years in one plan. Earthships. I am going to keep track of them and might even just drive to Taos sometime soon to check it out.

  • You are amazing people with amazing ideas! Keep up the great work and I'm so excited to hear how the project goes!

  • Bravo! Keep us up to date. Invite people to go with you. Many would love to help and spread your solution to many who need it. I'd love to see a follow up film like in the andaman islands.

  • I wanna get involved!!

  • i like this guy

  • @Aroddo There are an estimated 4 billion used tyres in the world and more every day filling landfills and being burnt... Each one took ~7 gallons of crude oil to produce... Seems like a pretty dependable resource to me. The energy's already gone into producing them and they are a factor of our environment whether we like it or not. The independence comes from not having to manufacture or grow new materials to create these houses. Garbage Warrior Styles!

  • I notice that the 'independent' houses are depending on old tires...

  • @Aroddo Nothing is truly independent. you always need material in order to create something. I think the point of the earthship presented here is to use that which has little to no value and is up for the grabs. In other words, it's made of garbage, so it's cheap. Maybe garbage will get a greater value through these projects??

  • @Aroddo I notice trolls never have anything positive to say about anything they think is good.

  • Earthship communities are the future... Thank you for bringing this to the people of the world.*****

  • @NibiruMagick2012 Just discovered they are starting a house in georgia this coming week. Thought it might be possible to go as an "intern".

  • Well done! Big ya up EARTHSHIP!!!!

    ~1NESS~

  • how much monney does an earthship cost... the cheapest one possible

  • @MrStartrekepisodes check out earthships online, alot of the components are recycled junk (tires, cans and bottles). Also check out taosearthships website for existing earthships for sale. My guess would be that it depends on how much material you can obtain for free, plus your area code/ordinance restrictions may be a factor in costs and the costs for labor. If you check the website I think a book has been published to build your own earthship.

  • @700eyesonly007 thanks, just might be building one for myself!
