@Mansavage, I am very happy at the two outcomes of the wars you mention. But we technically didn't "win the War of 1812". We sued for peace after the Brits sacked Washington, and kicked our buts up and down the eastern seacoast. Our navy had marked victories, and then we repulsed them in Baltimore and in New Orleans, thank goodness! Britain was too busy with Napoleon and they happily settled with us The Peace was generous for us: google "Treaty of Ghent", we're not allowed to link here.
