  • @WambaShuffle simple anecdotes are beyond some people, stick to your beatles dipshit

  • Probably my favorite black metal song/band

  • @aarr413: The little platitude that you quoted about little boys and jaybirds and sparrows is hands-down the stupidest thing I've heard all day. It's only mid-afternoon, but I'll bet my Twin Vox Superbeatles that it'll still be the stupidest thing by the time I put my head on my pillow at sleepytime. S T U P I D .

  • lol what the fuck is black metal?

  • @jelllyfishh Black metal is something u can't understand ;)

  • @xputtitoutx That's what I just said dipshit. Why'd you call me an asshole after agreeing with me, dumbfuck?

  • This song fucking rules. Imo it is similar to This Entire Fucking Battlefield by Weakling in atmosphere and feeling. Great song.

  • "The moment a little boy is concerned with which is a jay and which is a sparrow, he can no longer see the birds or hear them sing."

It's so fucking pathetic to see discussions about genres of music, rather than the music itself.

  • Black metals not going anywhere but not because of this band

  • @guitar0wnz I have to agree.

  • American black metal still has hope..

  • is there a clean guitar in this song playing along with the others? i thought i was hearing things for a long time, but im slowly becomeing convinced... you can really hear it in the intro and in that middle section where everything stops and then builds back up again... am i going crazy?

  • This is what happens when black metal, 90's screamo (before the term meant metal core), post rock and mellodic hardcore combine.

  • @mrgordonplaysdrums Or when ambient black metal is just ambient black metal. lol

  • @SingsLikeACree1 Or when thats where ambient black metal comes from.

  • @mrgordonplaysdrums Scratch out screamo and I'll agree.

  • @SingsLikeACree1 Listen to real screamo before the term was raped and you will completely agree :)

  • @mrgordonplaysdrums I'll give it a shot. Suggest me a band.

  • @SingsLikeACree1 here's a few: Julia, Shotmaker, Sleepytime Trio, The Exploder, Closure and Portraits Of Past. all of these bands were active in the 90's.

  • @SingsLikeACree1 Pg.99, Saetia, reain. Its like post rock but with yelling vox. Tis good.

  • @SingsLikeACree1

    And Orchid. They're good too.

  • @Hawdkoah Dude, Orchid is sick! Thanks for a opening the eyes of a hardcore metalhead.

  • if you don't like it GET THE FUCK OFF OF THIS PAGE

  • Ecofaghipstergarbage? yea, right

  • Ecofaghipstergarbage.

  • Who cares if it involves Satan or not? It's fucking black metal, the most hated music on the planet and in the heavens...

Varg is not the fucking Godfather of black metal. Black metal formed as a bastard child of death metal, and punk. End of story.

  • @bigwesj hey you forgot thrash :O HERESY!

  • @BlackMetalWorld well yeah you could say thrash if you want to get technical lol

thrash is kind of a faster version of punk if you think about it

  • @bigwesj without combat, earache and roadrunner death metal wouldnt even exist...and too bad u r wrong death metal started on late 80's and early 90's and black metal started on early 80's...death is a bastard child of black metal...+death sux...not even lyrics..all the same crap

  • @ejokurirulezz how do you think death metal sucks compared to black metal? In case you hadn't noticed, MOST black metal is grinding riffs, low growls/high screeches, and blast beats. All the same stuff. Hellhammer, Exodus, early Slayer, Possessed, Death... all formed in early 80's

  • @bigwesj black metal too..and death metal in late 80's

  • @bigwesj Are you saying Hellhammer and Exodus are death metal bands? Hellhammer is black metal, mixed with early thrash, and Exodus is pure thrash. Early Slayer certaintly isn't death metal, but you are right about Possessed and Death. Death was formed as Mantas though.

  • @G0dher0 no, no lol... hellhammer is nowhere near death metal

  • @bigwesj I know.. I said Hellhammer is early black metal, mixed with early thrash..

  • @G0dher0 I know, you are right. I was correcting myself.

  • Not that I'm saying all the black metal bands that are jumping on this bandwagon (the atmospheric post-rock/indie/black metal thing) are bad. I like some of them myself, especially the earliest ones who did it, like Agalloch (though they've ALWAYS been different and experimental). Some of them have even been using crust punk, which I'm a fan of as well. But they are NOT 2nd wave by any means. Nothing alike musically or ideologically. In any case, the first wave was the best.

  • This is NOT a "second generation" (or 2nd wave) black metal band.

After the first two waves, no other waves have really been defined, but with the onset of all the symphonic black metal bands, that, and anything after, is generally referred to as 3rd wave. WitTR is even after that. They're one of these newer black metal bands that's got a chubby for post-rock.

  • @marder111 lol

  • arguably one of THE best black metal bands formed, even to this day

  • Post Black Metal

  • the drummer misses a beat at 3:34...

  • what the fuck is the picture

  • @etrle its the logo. their old one.

  • @etrle

    you cant see it?

  • @NZNSBM nope, ive been staring at, and i got nothing

  • @etrle

Perhaps you're mentally challenged? I mean, no offense, I don't know what you people are calling yourselves these days...

  • @beowulven

Perhaps you're a nigger? I mean, no offense, I know you can't help it.

  • @etrle

They don't call me Chocolate Luv for nothing...

  • @beowulven

    word

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • fuck your wave nigga this shit is hot. period.

  • @chepe371 who the fuck says that?

  • @LadyJoyGasm what i cant like metal ? i was referring to a previous argument between 2 fellows over which "wave" of black metal this was at which point i said fuck your wave nigga this shit is hot, which from east coast spanglish to white roughly translates into : "I dont care what you think, this is great!" further more i dont care what You think, this is great.

  • black metal to me stands for satan and that's what i go for mostly is the satanic black metal this is good regardless

  • @blackmetalforce6

Why not just go kill a goat or something?

  • @AgentAlloy

    I believe it's "go FUCK a goat"?

  • all you can do is just complaining about something what you don't know...

Listen it and don't say a word anymore.

  • Würg

  • colder than siberian winterwinds just the way i like it

  • saw them live in norway last week :)

  • @Danny1337 Haha sorry but that sounds so trendy.... Norway.... XD but hails to Norway, the birthplace of TRUE black metal >:] for being an American band, from Washington, WITTR is probably the best black metal band in the last 5 to 6 years besides the uprising Watain from Sweden

  • @Dimdez ye, sorry for being born here xD

The gig was awesome though. My fav band by far

  • @Danny1337 I was being an ass :D like every American XD

  • this is third wave if such thing exist

  • yeah the singer should go on American Idol.

  • metallica!

  • The US makes the Black Metal survive!!!

While Scandenavia turned into viking and children fairy tale about norse mythology Metal.

The US scene still keeps the dark\evil\satanic atmosphere of Black Metal.

  • @IsraeliMetalhead So cold this song is but i don't hear evil i hear freezing cold winds inside the soul

  • @lordblasfhemy That my friend is nature.... the thing most people now days forget about....

  • thegodofrock190, i checkedout Arch Enemy, they're pretty legit. Good sound and lyrics. Just not something I could listen to day to day, it's kinda repetitive.

  • I'm pretty sure i'm beeing 210% serious right now. No lol'ing at my comment. Thsi band is garbage, deal with it.

  • wow i checked this band out thinking they'd be sick 'cause of a girl lead singer, and everyone saying they sound different then other metal bands, what a disappointment, I Wrestled A Bear Once still has the sickest female lead singer, and this band sounds the same as everything else

  • Dude I Wrestled a bear once is gay, Arch Enemy's lead singer is the shit

  • If you are being sarcastic, then i lol'ed

    if you arent...

I hope you fucking choke on your own shit while you sleep. Since that is what is coming out of your mouth.

  • i really hope you are trolling, if not, i don't even know how to begin to address everything that is wrong in your post.

  • this is at least 3rd generation black metal but that not mather. I thing you wrong thinking that is most impressive band there is lot more great black metal bands arround bether than this for example Taake,

darkspace, Shinning, Evilfeast, Lunar aurora (rip), Judas iscariot and lot more these days

  • Is the W turned sideways on the upper left corner?

  • I do believe so. I can never find the whole band name in that logo lol

  • sorry this is not second generation black metal, this is more like 3rd (maybe even 4th depending on who you talk to)

its great all the same tho

  • Nothing survives

  • This is probably one of their best songs. My personal favorite is the really long one (18 mins) I Will Lay Down My Bones Among The Rocks And Roots.

  • Favorite song by them. Hail WITTR!

  • How can their drummer blast for so long? That's finger suicide, lol.

  • Eh, I've heard worse.

  • they're very good live!

I once saw them at graspop metal meeting, It was kind of hypnotising :)

  • Comment removed

  • This guy's are good musicians, and their lyrics are the best; This is So good!!

  • I wish they kept this logo. Either way it doesn't matter, they are the best band in music.

  • Listen to Sarcofago, true evil stuff

  • Okay, I cannot read this logo for the life of me. Can anybody tell me a tactic for reading it properly?

  • sounds pretty sick

  • @mjolnirsmight Which is why they are great, almost everyone now days had silly politics in the music, fuck NSBM, ithe music is good, but fuck politics, they're forgetting about the best feature and most powerful of black metal...... nature..... nothing will defeat nature, not even mankind....

  • @Dimdez There are a few good bands with NS ideology, specifically Nokturnal Mortum for me. I know personally that I'm not a Nazi because of this, because the music I write has absolutely nothing to do with politics, it has to do with exactly what you've said. But yeah, WITTR's political ideology is preferable most definitely.

  • @mjolnirsmight

    100 percent agreed!

  • @mjolnirsmight

    It's all bullshit to me.

  • black metal good without satan

  • @drzip1993 :D I agree & lol'd

  • @drzip1993 Satan is required.

  • @morrycrow

if you think blackmetal is just about satan, you dont know shit

  • @tatiperkin if we are talking about american black metal then satan is not required. but the finnish , swedish ,norwegian russian french and south american black metal are really influence on satan. so maybe its you the one that needs to inform yourself a little bit more. hails.

  • yore rules should not have to be required to make good black metal.

  • @morrycrow dude, youre fuckin stupid...i guess that you think burzum is satanic then even tho varg specifically said his music is about pagan themes and norse mythology and that he burned churches cuz he believed christianity corrupted his people. that is biased as fuck that norwegian has to include satanism cuz that alone debunks your "opinion" about black metal...including foreign. burzum is one of the great black metal bands and varg said specifically that he and his music isnt satanist..

  • @nocturnasinterfector Burzum hehe, burzum its just a hype you idiot.

  • @morrycrow oh right...just hype..ok budguy...i guess mayhem is just hype too? besides, you miss my point all together...its like saying death isnt true death metal when chuck schuldiner is considered the genre godfather....it makes no sense at all for black metal to be true only when its satanic...and thats a stupid standard that venom set for the genre. music in general is about passion and not what some fuckin retard says its supposed to be. grow the fuck up moron

  • @nocturnasinterfector he-he- now you know how it works.

    really? ok

  • @nocturnasinterfector it's called black metal for a reason. Maybe not explicitly satanic, but it must be darkness propaganda

  • @nocturnasinterfector

Black metal can be true when its not Satanic.

    Just not trve.

  • @APPLEAPPS1

satan is a christian force, so fvck satan

  • @undeathguppie

    Poser.

  • @APPLEAPPS1

    lol

satan is so not black, only for posers like dimmu borgir

black metal is anti christian, anarchistic, could be pagan. but a trve black metaller is against satan while its just something of christianity

  • @nocturnasinterfector Sorry but you can't really take Varg seriously. He changes his views (and his explanations of the past) more often then I change underwear. He did say Burzum was satanic in the early 90's (Kerrang! interview for one). Then in the late 90's he said he was a nazi and that he had never played black metal because it was "nigger music" (sorry to any black person but that's what he said). Then he was a pagan. He had never dyed his hair black or worn corpse paint.

  • Despite picture evidence of this. When confronted he said corpse paint was a pagan shamanistic ritual. Finally in around 2008 he said he was never a nazi and all previous qoutes was made up by the media (apperantly his own homepage is "the media"). Also he would donate income from Belus album to the eathquake victims of Haiti.

  • @marder111 hes just seeking attention :P but musically he's a genius

  • @morrycrow

No cuz these guys are against that completely umad?

  • @drzip1993 black metal without satan is like nonalcoholic vodka

  • I love this band they are amazing. Its true misanthropic black metal without the bullshit political ideologies.

And on the topic of Dimmu/Cradle/Satyricon: Wtf seriously happened to those bands. The new music by satyricon especially is actually some of the worst shit I have ever heard in my life. For shame

  • You can't be misanthropic without some political ideologies.

  • what the fuck are you talking about

  • I'm still wondering how they got Wolves in the Throne Room in that script. I think I can see Room in the bottom right but I dunno haha. Cool band.

  • dude it took me almost a week to figure it out haha. the w looks like it's sideways on the top left.

  • haha Oh man, I finally kinda got it. I had to find that W and everything else kinda showed up.

  • dimmu borgir is alot kvlter.. 20k views is a bit too much for my tastes

  • doesn't matter how popular a band is.

  • @twighead gay

  • i saw them live and they are damn good!

  • 5:04 makes me cream my pants

  • That... probably isn't healthy. haha

  • In the description it says, "second generation" black metal, surely we're on the third generation, by now, right?

  • chronologically, yes. but he means it by the style of the music.

  • 1st= venom king diamond mercyfulfate

    2nd= mayhem burzum immortal emperor

3rd= dimmu borgir cradle of filth

    would you consider this third?

  • 3rd can also be viking\folk black metal..

    Arkona,falkenbach,temnozor,nokturnal mortum,hromovlad etc'(damn why did I remember mostly NSBM?)

  • so what would you classify this under??

  • 2nd wave

  • why??

  • Well it sounds like the second wave more or less...

Weird but it doesn't sound like the third wave...

  • oh ok well i like black metal but im more of a death metal guy

  • Oh ok man.

  • just classify it as good music

  • hell yeah it is

  • 1st: Celtic frost, venom, bathory

2nd: Darkthrone Emperor mayhem burzum Ulver

    3rd WITR, Windir, Drudkh etc.

  • i thought of it as third too

  • venom have never been a black metal band. but the 1st wave's bands were influenced by them.

  • Dimmu and Cradle were a part of the second wave, been around since the early 90's. (but they suck now, especially cradle)

  • mayhem and burzum and immortal were just the beginning right?

  • Not quite, the very first black metal band was Bathory (some say Venom, but they only coined the term "Black Metal") Mayhem, Burzum, and Immortal were all part of the second wave. Another first wave band is Celtic Frost.

  • well i know about the secondwave because thats the kinda black metal i listen too

mercyfulfate and king diamond are the only first wave stuff i listen too

and some dimmuborgir and wittr are the only third i guess

  • Perhaps. But let's not forget that Hellhammer released Satanic Rites a year before Bathory released their first album, and it was more influential during the second era. Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales was also more influential than the first Bathory album. It's really when they released Under the Sign...that they really struck the chord, and that album is truly the most influential of all the first wave albums. This is of course, only my opinion, feel free to respond.

  • @Atrumus

I hope to God you're joking. Bathory's first four albums formed the foundations of second wave Black Metal. Hellhammer/Celtic Frost provided a worldview and general aesthetic, while reinforcing the Speed Metal roots and the Death Metal connection. Need I remind you of songs like Burzum's "War" (that's not a direct reference to Bathory's first album, is it? :p), Darkthrone's "In the Shadow of the Horns", Immortal's.. Entire first album?

  • @MetalTakeover chek parabellum from colombia , and Master hamer from chekoslovakia, parabelum was formed in 1981, and Master Hamer in 1983,

  • Third wave of black metal occured is when the term "experimental" became perhaps less taboo. So bands like Deathspell Omega, Blut aus Nord, Arcturus, Enslaved, Nachtmystium, and some recent Mayhem stuff could fall under the third wave of black metal.

  • wow very nice response

  • enslaved is pretty old black metal tbh

  • @Atrumus As well as 1349, new Satyricon, and Watain, this would be 3rdish I guess, but it has the nature of 2nd with the forces of nature and long drawn out song structure...

  • @SKELETOR2112 1 why did you mention cradle king diamond mercyfulfate ? 2 you just hate dimmu because you hear others say it ?

  • @loool070 When did i say i hated dimmu?

i was just trying to clarify the "waves" of blackmetal, and Atrumus provided an exceptional answer

  • @SKELETOR2112 definitely forgot Bathory there in the first wave

  • @SKELETOR2112 What about Dark Funeral and Gorgoroth?

  • To everyone here that complains about how the production of this album sucks, stay the fuck away from black metal. The production here is actually pretty good.

  • which says alot about black metal lol

  • You boys need to calm down, the first 2 mins sound like Dark Throne....what else do you want?

  • i tried liking this band, but they do everything i hate in a black metal band, the vox sound cool though

  • may i ask you, what do you hate in black metal? especially the things, wittr does?

  • no low end, bad sound quality sounds like it was recorded in a dying forest thats been burnt down, ya kno

  • That's the spirit of Black Metal though, bro.

  • Even Diadem of 12 Stars? That album is just about everything I love about Black Metal

  • This seriously sucks. It's like the instruments just doesn't fit in together and like they play it too soft. THE INSTRUMENTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOMINANT!!!!!

  • This is not technical / death metal.
