@jcamp84 Hogan was as "over" at this point as any wrestler ever, so I doubt DiBiase's (although great) performance had anything to do with it. Hogan took more damage from adoring fans lining the entrance to the ring than he did from his opponents during this era...
Don't know if it was B Brian Blair & Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell under the masks or not, but it was done to see how people would react to the Killer Bees being heels. This was the only time they were heels, so I guess not very well.
Since this match took place on March 12, 1988, why are there several references to Hulk Hogan being the champion? He dropped the belt to Andre on February 5, 1988 and the title should have been vacant when this match took place. The commentary may have been dubbed after WrestleMania V, but don't they check for accuracy?
i remember seeing the Coliseum video of Hulkamania 4 good times & i remember always matches being dubbed over commentary i think schiavone was first employed by the wwf in january 1989 & left before wrestlemania VI were the WWF Had another special on prime THE USA NETWORK WWF Ultimate challenges he calls some matches last PPV was royal rumble 1990 to commentate with the body jesse ventura
Who in the HELL were under those masks?? Anyone ever find out after? Obviously, it couldn't have been the actual Bees, they were allies with Hogan back then, so it had to be two guys paid off to disguise themselves as the Bees only to turn on Hogan & attack him during the match...classic stuff though anyways :-)
@giggles88ish It might have been that since the lower card guys get robbed of their usual early flight home on a night like this, and it's not (nationally) televised, they might have just been screwing around out of spite. Or it was an angle that started and got dropped. Or they got fired after this for screwing around. Or they really hated Hogan. Or 9/11 was an inside job. Could be any one of those things.
If this took place in 1988, why were they talking about Dibiase beating Hogan for the belt. Hogan had been screwed out of the belt on Feb. 4th, if I remember correctly.
@jake94 It was March of 88, this show aired on WWE Classics on Demand a few months back with the original commentary intact with Craig DeGeorge and Dick Graham.
You would think Blair and Brunzell would run out and claim the guys in the masks were impostors (Blair and Brunzell did wrestle at this card). The Bees still wrestled as faces afterward, so why do a heel turn?
I think it came out after that it was NOT the real Killer Bees - I want to say that it was Don Morocco and someone else....Fuji, maybe? I can't remember for sure. If you look at their bodies, they're a lot chunkier than the Killer Bees. Long Live Special Delivery Jones.
Yeah, it seems like a "screw you" kinda thing they'd do to a team after they left the company. Have the Bees turn heel for DiBiase's money and get their asses handed to them.
@TRexAndTheRaceCar The Killer Bees (Blair and Brunzell) were still a team well into 1988. Blair left in late-1988 while Brunzell was demoted to JTTS and stayed with the WWF until I'd like to say 1991 or 92.
This match took place in March of 1988 and I can't understand for the life of me why Luscious Johnny Valiant is at ringside for this match after months of being television for months due to the fact that Jimmy Hart took over Greg Valentine's managerial duties.
I was surprised too when finding the date of this event that took place 15 days before WM4. He wrestles again the next day in Hamilton, Ontario againts SD Jones and that was it for him in the WWF...
On a side note here....I would've never guessed that SD Jones was still with the WWF at the time, you NEVER saw or heard of him anytime at that point...
I also, didn't know that either Schiavone OR Mooney were in the WWF back before Wrestlemania 4...
What's funny is my 2nd house show ever was in October of 1990 and SD Jones wrestled on that show. When he came out we were completely shocked to see him. He lost to Iron Mike Sharpe of all people.
LOL, really, how do you know this, there a website that contains this kind of info?
He was before my time, but, after watching 6-7 of his matches, I'm not a fan of SD anyway, so, him not getting any airtime, not something I'll shed tears over haha
@NWpowerhouse85 When I went to a 1991 house show, the lady next to me (who was a huge LOD and WWF fan) told me that Don Muraco was now a trainer in the WWF (I guess Vince kept everyone). Heh, she also told me she had a few souvenirs: bits of Honky's guitar, bits of the turnbuckle stuffing from George "The Animal" Steele and one of Leaping Lanny Poffo's frisbees. She also left her poster behind by accident...free souvenir for me :)
@fivebearrugs I think it'd want the Frisbee the most, cotton and wood shavings aren't my idea of cool souvenirs haha,
Vince----there are conflicting stories on how he is, some ppl say he's a fantastic boss...and then there're ppl like Billy Jack Haynes, who thinks he's the spawn of Satan, I personally don't know.
Wait...wasn't Tony still with Crockett Promotions in March 1988?

@johnissoevil He was just doing dub overs for old matches, much like J.R joining WWE in 93 and on Coliseum Video matches he's doing matches from 92.

Killer Bee's where never heels. They just wore mask 2 win matches like they did in the 1st survivor series & numerous others.

I never knew the Killer Bees were heels or wore masks and I watched WWF heavely in 1987. They always showed their faces and were babyfaces

@Silvaggio - It couldn't have been Don Morocco, because he was 'face' at them time and was no longer managed by Fuji!
The Killer Bees were 'faces' at this time, so, I'm confused to fuck?! :S

Also Muraco was almost as tanned as Hogan in 1988... Did you notice the ''white'' arms on those two guys...
Dotheoz1 1 year ago
The whole Killer Bee's thing here is stupid, what was the point, were they actually SUPPOSED to be the Bees, or were they imposters?
Dumb WWF move there...
And, the fact that they keep referring to Hogan as champion, is rather irritating....
