  • I drive like this all the time and nobody laughs. There's just nothing funny about modern automobiles--they've got no character.

  • Is this original?

  • Anyone else notice the guy on the bike almost crash into the car 0:45 at the intersection? Love this footage though thanks for sharing.

  • Grande Babe Ruth

  • GTA New York?

  • I finally found out (thanks to wikipedia) that most of the clip from this video is from the 1928 silent movie called "Speedy."

  • This is like driving in India 2012

  • Whats with the dude Up on the subway bridge @ 3:54!! LOL!!!

  • @mojoflo2528 There*; LEARN how to spell properly. Secondly, Boston fans respect Babe Ruth, even if he was traded to the Yankees from the Sox. We aren't arrogant and we KNOW that he was an amazing ballplayer, despite the fact that he was on the Yankees. So, good one.

  • their are 32 boston fans who disliked this

    Driving today is really boring.

  • Those cars are probably going 15 m/h.

  • Old-timey Niko Bellic.

  • That copper certainly ran fast in front of the bus, lol!

  • Ive always all my life to go back in time and see how it use to be.

  • I would give anything to take a walk in New York back then, just to see everything

  • @BozZniAN95 everyone is white if you you took a film of new york today and the people new york today i wonder if would do things differently in term of immigration,just a thought no malicous thoughts in my head.

  • You would never thought that New York was all white people back then. Now they dominate the suburbs and rich places

  • pioneers of driving--omg seat belts air bags please

  • haha the disorder in the traffic!

  • Isn't Babe Ruth in that video as "the unfortunate next customer?"

  • This would've gone viral if YouTube was around in the 1920s.

  • This is a classic! Harold Lloyd is a comic genius.

  • Looks to me thats how they drive in Iraq these days

  • crazy drive in new york

  • The Guy being riden to Yankee Stadium must be pissed...

  • @mike23456789101112 u mad bro?

  • So cool! It would be nice to see NY bring back the tram system ...instead of catering to the automobile. Really great video!

  • It is very interesting to see New York's tram system, one prominent feature of the city that doesn't exist anymore. It's a reminder of the ever-changing face of New York.

  • @DaniOcean isn't that just elevated subway lines? they still exist..

  • @m173627 not exactly, the tram is a completely different system. It's usually lighter then the subway and build above ground. While most trams can ride on a subway rail, the other way around is impossible. During the "Great American Streetcar Scandal" most of the trams in US and Canada ware removed, but there are few exceptions like Boston, New Orleans, Newark, etc. Toronto have the largest one in North America. If you want to see an a good example look at the "The Portland Streetcar system".

  • @m173627 I think the last tram in Gotham was removed somewhere during the 60s.

  • I like the end when the trolley dewires...

  • Hey, mebbe The Babe shudda been in pitchas ;-D

  • 32 people don't know how to drive :)

  • Awesome video, I was looking for something like this for a long time.

    Thanx

  • 4:19 that's gotta hurts.

  • For anyone that's curious:

    @0:23 -Times Sq.

    @0:26 -Herald Sq.

    @3:45 -Washington Sq. Park

    @3:58 -Broadway, Bowling Green

    @4:15 -United States Custom House, large building facing Battery Park

  • This is a short clip of an entire movie which aired on the History Channel about 10 year's ago, and yes, that is really Babe Ruth in the Taxi.

  • anyone know the first two songs in this video? (before the cab is introduced?)

  • I'm not going ot deny it.

    The car scene was more epic than most chase scenes these days.

  • lmfao

  • Damn were there even any road rules!!!

  • well, i thought this was funny as heck!! people of the 20s were geniuses!!

  • The guy in the horse drawn trolly carriage at the end was thrown from it when they crashed at the end. OUCH!!! It's really weird to think that every single person pictured here is dead now.

  • A pedestrian and a cop on a motorcycle almost get run over right at the start!

  • back when america was america,now america is the land of the sodomite damned..

  • Today out in public I talked to a guy who was born in 1915, and this video was on my mind, because he was around 12 when it was made. Can't explain it, but it was so interesting. Sad also.

  • To be honest, the idea of being born in the 1900's and living to see the 2000's scares me.

  • By the 1900's modern life could still be incorporated up to the 1990's easily. However, now with computers everywhere It might be a bit hard to keep up.

  • Even today the comedy of Harold Lloyd is as fresh as ever.

  • Where's the 3 stooges?

  • Say, was that BABE RUTH in the cab going to Yankee Stadium?

  • so! they had GO PRO, back in the 20'S. WOW !

  • Hey, I don't think "we" have advanced culturally from this time.....only the technology is different - but not better

  • Hey, I don't think "we" have advanced culturally from this time.....

  • Was that the sultan of swat I saw! I think even after nearly a century we can all recognize that kisser.

  • how the hell do they have way btter pixels then some videos now

  • This is how we drive in India...why did they change it now?

  • Thank you! Harold Lloyd was an original never yet duplicated.

    He didndt need voice or foul language, just human folly .

    Never saw "The BABE" acting before, not bad, not bad.:)

    HUMANS with huge talents, no fluff and tinsel to fake it.

  • @sophiah88 : True :D

  • aaron i was wondering what the first songs name is and what band that charleston was done by please. can you help me i havnt heard that version of charleston anywhere but here and the first song to.

  • Looks like amazing chaos for today's man: electromobiles, horse dawn carriots, trams and motorcars going around walking people... but the only secret is that was a munch slower world. These vehicles on the footage all going approx 15...20mph, so they have munch more time to merge traffic situations as we in today's 35...40mph fast cities.

  • at 0:46 a cop is almost hit by a trolley, running intersections again?

  • Harold Lloyd was one silent films greats did all his own stuns many that were flat NUTS & did all this with his thumb & a finger missing on 1 hand,

  • BABE RUTHE awesome !!!

  • New York don't change lolz
