This band has such an addictive groove!

  • Great stuff! Here's a ? . If their old manager, terry , screwed them over, how about anyone of the ladies over the years that background ssang any of GFR's song's? I was just thinkin' of that as I saw another verison of the Funkettes.

  • I was a big grandfunk fan in the 70s,to see all these cool videos now is fuckin great.

  • I'm hooked on GFR!

  • i REALLY hate when they wont film the bassist

  • "HOOKED ON LOVE" LOVE! What a concept! There seemed to be a lot more LOVE back in the day.

"Come on people now...shine on your brother. Everybody get together and try to LOVE one another right now."

  • I started driving in 1971 too and gas was NOT 20 cents a gallon! Where did you live? Mexico? You must have if you say the 60's sucked.

  • I lived right in the center of all the 60's,Hippie bullshit..San Francisco..Lived there for 45 years..You can see from the way SF is now that the 1960's produced nothing but hypocritical, socialist, money grabbing, diversity lovin, cowardly assholes..Gas was 20 cents a gallon in SF when I started driving..If you think any good came out of 1960's then you must be a stooge columnist for the New York Times,or a Columbia professor

  • "A stooge columnist?" rangerdgd1, you need to grab a beer and relax.

  • I started driving at that time gas was .249 & now & then gas wars goin on would drop the price to .199 per gallon & yes the 1960s we ROCKED & INTO THE 1970S

  • Since when was gas .249? What is .249? I live in America where gas in 1971 was 35 cents a gallon. This is such a non issue anydamnway! I hope you made the same effort to sign the petition to get GFRxR inducted into the hall...that only takes .249 of a minute.

  • You go, Fattdaddy!

And it's not about gas here...it's all about the Funk. Grand Funk, that is!! PLEASE..

Do what Fattdaddy asks, and SIGN THE PETITION to get these guys INDUCTED into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

  • .....and if y'all DON'T sign the petition, please reconsider and do it now...We got FUNK MOMMA, an 80 year-something -year -old in Indiana wanting to see GFRxR in the Hall by 2010. Lets give FUNK MOMMA a hand and sign the petition NOW! Thanks!

  • Thanks Fattdaddy. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's my Mom he's talkin' about.

    Funk momma!

  • Thank you, PackedFunk, for this one. One of my favorite ones by Grand Funk. As a scared isolated kid, I really learned from this one. Yeah, love is what keeps me going through this life. Mark, to me, was an unexpected spiritual guide in my life.

  • Rolling Stone will be giving out free 6 month subscriptions at an upcoming Tom Petty concert here in St.Louis. I wouldn't wipe my ass with that rag. Hey Jan Wenner....UP YOURS!

  • The fact remains that the most successful Rock Band in the world from '69-'76 in album & ticket sales was Grand Funk Railroad.

To continue to be shunned by The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is unacceptable!

Everyone please sign our petition listed above. It only takes seconds to do. Thanks Funk Fans!

  • what about the stones and zepplin.the RS 1972 tour the biggest gross tour at that time.then zep best that ayear later

  • But, the first band to sell 10 consecutive platinum albums & the band that holds the ticket sales record is GFRxR. The first band to have a "live Album" go multi-platinum was GFRxR. All 8 years considered, GFRxR was the most commercially successful.

  • Everyone sign the petition above in the video description. It only takes seconds to do.

  • You're right annaleee69, it took me 9.6 seconds to add my name to the ever growing list of FUNK FANS to give GFRxR proper recognition by inducting them into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. Everybody...please add YOUR name to the petition. Thanks! FUNK ON!

  • please read the comment directly below and ACT UPON IT.....

  • THE PETITION........SIGN IT DAMMIT!

  • God Bless the Funky Funkettes

  • E.PLURIBUS FUNK (1972) "SAVE THE LAND"

"I'm calling to my brothers and sisters,

Lets get together and kill this fear." - Mark Farner

  • "I don't care who you are, I love the human race." - Mark Farner

Personally sometimes I think we need to thin the herd a bit, but what do I know?

  • Wanna see Mark and his former band perform some fun dance moves? Watch YouTube's "Mark Farner and the God Rockers perform Hooked on Love live in 1991."

  • Render Unto Caesar That Which Is Caesar's -- E Pluribus Funk (1972) Everyone please sign our petition above. Thanks to all you Funk Fans!

  • is mel playing a harp at the beginning of the vid?

  • Yes he is!

  • awesome!...what was it that they were playing by the way?

  • There was a 20 second instumental jam after coming back from a commercial in which Mel was playing harp. They then broke into Hooked On Love.

  • cool!...The 4 of them were just amazing musicians...they were better than most of the bands at that time and even today nobody can't beat them. I hope they get into the Rn'R Hall of fame...a reunion concert would awsome...I would travel all the way from CR just to see them!

  • I'm posting the rest of this song to include the jam right as we speak. I think it is worth seeing. Thanks Mr.G

  • thank you so much! Funk Brother!

  • This band rocked harder than any band in history! Prove me wrong, I dare you! Grand Funk Railroad Live was The Ultimate, bar NONE!!! The Establishment hated this band & thanks to Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone, Mark, Don, & Mel still pay the price for not fitting "The Preconceived Image" of what a Rock Band should be. The People Should Speak!!! Support our petition in video's description.

  • Grand Funk Live...the "fervor" has been unmatched all these years.

  • who the hell keeps marking these as spam??

  • Let me get this straight. Is The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame calling tens of thousands of us GFRxR Fans back in 1971 (75% of this scientific poll) idiots by ignoring our band??? I feel a put-down here somehow!!!

  • Hey y'all! Look who signed the petition at #1572! Can you believe it!

  • Get a "postage free" subscription cardfrom a Rolling Stone magazine and a large box. Fill the box with trash (get creative) Attach the postage free card (good up to 70 lbs.) and send it to Jann Wenner at Rolling Stone Magagzine. 1,000 boxes a day is all we ask!

  • Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone Magazine is the reason GFRxR is not in the R&R HOF! To Hell with that piece of crap & his shitty magazine. I'm not buying another one of his shitty magazines until his attitude changes. Everyone copy & paste this on all GFRxR videos.

  • 'HOOKED ON LOVE' - Y'all remember LOVE? Wow, what a concept!

  • GFRxR have 33 gold & platinum ALBUMS earned & many gold & platinum singles. They also still hold many ticket sales records. NOT being recognized by The R&R HOF is a bitch-slap to every fan who bought one of those albums or concert tickets.

Sign the petition in this video's description.

  • Please sign the petition to get GFRxR into the Hall of Fame. Please. Thanks. Now go and get your FUNK ON!

  • go mark!

  • "My brothers and sisters, hear what I say....I'm gonna love you, till my dyin' day" - MARK FARNER

  • GFRxR created their own genre of music & The People reacted enormously by becoming the first band to sell 10 consecutive platinum albums & breaking ticket sales records wherever they played. fattdaddy3755, WALNUTS52, & myself are trying to correct the fact that GFRxR are ignored by The R&R HOF. Please join us by signing the petition in this video's description. Thanks everyone!

  • HEAVY METAL Documentary Movie Part1 of 12

Search YouTube for the above documentary on how GFRxR started what is known today as "Heavy Metal"!!

  • "10 times yo' fingers....double yo' toes."

Farner and Mel & Don need to be in the HOF people! C'mon and sign the petition....PLEASE!

  • "FERVOROSITY" This is what Mark Farner and the boys have brought to the world and history of Rock. Something that has seemed to have been lost. Pitty

  • GFRxR were dogged about everything they did, the way they looked, their attitude, even some critics called their instruments "junk". They were told their songs would not be played on the radio if they were longer than 3 minutes. GFRxR were black-balled by "the establishment" through music critics. This is also why they are not in R&R HOF today. Help me right this wrong. Everyone sign the online petition in this video's description. Thanks everyone.

  • I think the word junk, should have been funk. Their music was pure "funk." The best!!

  • What a (kick ass) petition, from Packed Funk.(1 month ago) ("1404 signatures is not enough") SIGN NOW!!!

  • Oh man!!!!! Mark and the boys--CLASSIC BAND!!!!!

  • "DID YOU EVER HAVE SOMETHING....

....YOU WANT THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD TO KNOW ABOUT?"

Yes!!! Please go to this video's description, and sign the petition to induct GRAND FUNK into the HOF!

  • my all time favorite grand funk song thanks for posting

  • Mark Farner wrote some of the coolest lyrics during this early period ('69-'72).

  • "I don't care who you are...I love the human race" Marks been preaching love for decades through his music. HEY CLEVELAND.....WTF?

  • Ok, one of my total faves from GFR here, but it's obvious the turning point was at hand for the group in this footage. More specifically...the addition of back up singers. At one point "oh are we supposed to keep hitting the tambourines during this part?" LOL!

  • Yea, for sure a turning point. Mark was against adding Craig Frost & back-up singers. He wanted to remain a Power Trio. One thing for sure, they made the transition well & had many hits after this. Shows the bands diversity. Few bands could pull it off!!

  • True, true. I've been a GFR fan for many years, I'm sure you've been one for many more. I FINALLY got around to hearing the "We're An American Band" album all the way through because I have never been into their "later" sound that much. It's a good, well produced record but it just dosen't get into my bloodstream like "The Red Album," or "Closer To Home." And I am still in full force protesting this new line up.

  • For sure this new line-up without Farner is a "cover band". Their first 3 albums were classics & will live forever. Many artists were influinced by the early Power Trio GFRxR. "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home" was named by Rolling Stone as one of the ten greatest songs of all time. First time Rolling Stone ever said anything good about GFRxR.

  • Craig Frost gave the band a fresh new sound, and he also was helpful on later Funk albums in the songwriting department. I was disappointed when Craig (or Mel) ended up not being involved with the 1981-83 GFR comeback.

  • Everyone please sign the petition located in this video's description. Just click "more" to expand the video's description & you'll see the link in blue. Click on the blue link & you are there. I can't post the link in comments section. Thanks everyone!

  • kickin ass!

  • As an artist and creator that saw all levels of the playing field, Mark Farner's musical diversity is a matter of public record. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home" as one of the top ten classic songs of all time. Way to go Mark!!!

  • Rare footage! Thanks!

  • Everyone please sign the petition in the video's description to induct Mark Farner into The R&R HOF!
