  • I just got a guitar and I can't wait to be able to play this ! <3 It's me and my boyfriends song (: i think this is a good video btw !

  • ich versteh das nicht ...xD-.-

  • thanks nice work!

  • I tune my guitar a half step down..because my ovation sounds a bit high.1/2 step down sounds good w/ the capo on 2..hell jus may leave it 1/2 down cause it sounds better than standard..lol

  • yeahh im new too guitar too but i dont get when you do upstroke and downstroke confused someone help !

  • Please don't make fun of me lol im new to guitar and when i play D and A in this song it doesnt sound right like it sounds kinda squeaky :/ if anyone knows what im talking about could you explain why lol

  • @sWeEt9111 it just sounds like that because Oasis plays the higher sounding chords a little softer then the Em7 and G9

  • I like it man, although it sounds better with the other strum pattern.

  • awesome job for a quick tutorial man...especially with the up and down explanantions...:D

  • Great job - today I did it!

  • Really?? Show me what ya got man! Post a vid! I'd love to see how you're "supposed" to do it....

You do understand that this is the original album version and not the newer version that was changed some...right?

  • u play it with a capo?

  • Hey Yea, with a capo on 2nd... This not only gives you the proper key with these chords but more importantly it changes the timbre.

  • ah bc i always just play it open

  • @mary245 yes and the capo goes on the second fret

  • You're an excellent tutor...thank you so much !!!! :D

  • Nice tutorial. There is an easy way to play it without a capo as well, though.

  • Good info, but I was hoping to see it played all the way through once.

But like I said, real good info. . .Thanks!!

  • Didn't have time in the vid.. Youtubes limit is 10 mins. I posted the full song as a response under this vid. That should cover it for you! Peace!

  • Thanks Man! That dog'll Hunt

  • really easy to learn through this video. way better than the other ones i looked at. thanks a lot.

  • ittts a good vid t helped but u can do it without a capo too xx

  • thanks alot mate. that helped alot. all th tabs i was looking at put so many stupid chords in the 3rd part of the bridge, that i couldnt work it out. thanks for helping.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this man. It's greatly appreciated

  • You're awesome man, thnks!

  • what a great help you were! You couldn't have made things more clear! thanks you!

  • THANK YOU sooooooo much for this video. I've been trying to get it for ages, and the stuff on the net isnt very good, and my brother tried to show me but i couldnt get it, but now i can!

so thank you so very much, especially for the written comment on how to do the strumming, that helped enormously!

    :o)

  • For ll the people that have asked for the strumming pattern written out...Here ya go

    d = A regular - light down strum

    D = A slighly stronger down strum

    u = up strum

    ddD dududD dududD duudududu

That's the main patterns used through out the song... Peace!

  • Btw, could you do a tutorial on how to play Ryan Adams' version?

  • I just checked out his vesion... Nice! Capo'd on 3rd and played along with it a few times... It's a fairly simple travis picking pattern with him walking in and out of the chords. I'll see if I can work the pattern and changes out for ya. I'd recommend learning the strummed versin first though.. It'll give you the rhythm for the song and make the picking easier to pick up later on and still keep the feel of the song... I'll be in touch...Peace!

  • You're a very good teacher. Thanks.

  • this video has helped me so much, thank you very much pal !!

  • Glad it helped! Peace!

  • aww, i dont have a freakin capo -.-

  • get two pens/pencils put one on the frount of the guitar neck nd one at the back and use elastic bands or hair bobbles on each end to tighten them together =]

now you have a capo =]

    Love xxx

  • thanks SO much!

  • is it down - up - down ??

i didnt rlly understand because my english is not that good so i would like if someone would answer me :)

  • thanks bud, everywhere else said just Dm instead of Dsus4, and they were wrong, thankyou.

  • this guy is a hero. this vid proves oasis have hit world wide :P

i'm french and i haven't understand anythink but i've see the guitar and it help me ^^

  • WEEKED SEEK!!

  • youre accent is fuckin legend!!

im irish..so before anyone leaves a thumbs down on this comment.. it means i love him accent.

Just thought i'd share that :)

And wow for 7 months you're really good! i Watched the tutorial before i read the more info section, and i guessed you wouldve been playin for like 7 years! Well done bud!

  • this really helped for the strumming, thanks a lot! =D

  • capo is just a ezer way it make it high pitch so witth u want to go through that trouble its ok but some ppl like me we dnt want to tune it make it like that so quit whining jackjass

  • are you saying pattern is dudu 'chain'??? what?

  • hes saying DOWN

  • Did i just get taught wonderwall by a cowboy?

  • lol cant stop laughing

  • I sent you a message explaining...

  • I'd love to hear why this would be an Em#9. The #9 interval (G) is a redundancy, same as the minor 3rd. It doesn't matter in what octave you play it or how many times you play it. So why do you call it that? I've never even heard of a minor #9. Thanks.

  • I'll be honest man, I'm not a theory buff... I had been playing 7 months when I posted this. I had learned it by purchasing a private lesson from a reputable online site and it's the names he used, so at the time, I thought it was correct. Now that I know more, I understand your point... All the best!

  • Hey, thanks for the reply. I thought you might have known something I didn't, and I'm up for learning from anybody! Keep at it, you sound great.

  • BTW... Nice job on "Beast of Burden"

  • Thanks!

  • grobn, and anyone else who would like some clarification, wikipedia has an entries on the Minor ninth and Ninth.

Personally I would say that octaves matter greatly. take a piano, play C and C# below middle C. now, play C below middle C and C# above middle C. does it sound the "same" ?

  • @grobn I think I have the answer for you: it's a way to specify the voicing.

With the Em end chord we sound the A and D strings at the second fret, giving:

e-b-e-g-b-e (playing all six strings strumming down).

make the b-string sound a "d" and we have the Em7:

    e-b-e-g-d-e

    Now add a 2nd (f#) above the 7th (d) and it's a 9th.

"sharpen" the 9th (f## or g) and its a Em7 still but technically it can be presented as Em#9.

  • If you remove the pinky from the e string it's a seventh chord. A lot of people call it an Em7 and that's not totally wrong but the proper name of the chord is an Em#9. There are so many fingerings for chords that they can often be called by several names depending on the application. Either one could be considered correct here.

  • dude you sound like the guy from tokyo drift!

  • okay so ive been going threw this trying to catch all the strumin patterens. so do yew mind typin them out or something?

  • Thanks a lot. I've never really figured out the strumming pattern for this song. Your lesson helped out a lot.

  • where do you put the Ching part of the strum, for the other three chords?

  • Ching is just my word for it... It's just a emphasized strum concentrating mainly on the lower strings. For the other 3 chords in the "main Chords section" use it as the final downstroke.

  • wow you da boss

  • wooooooooooooow

    thank you sooo much!!!

  • That was awesome, it really helped me alot, thanx!!!

  • this song is really gud for begginers anybody can play this tune thanks for the vid :)

  • GREAT TUTORIAL!!!

i just watched it and wrote some things down and im about to practice it :]

im planning to do a re-cover of the collide and then make a vid on wonderwall :]

    thanks for this awesome tutorial

  • thanx helped me on 1 part

  • thank you :)

  • all good mate...but it takes away form musical skill..allows you to be very lazy. I myself have never used one, i would rather figure out what hcords are used and then use a substitution. It just laziness, thats all.

  • Hey mate, I'd like to friendly disagree :) I don't think a capo is cheating at all! I'll admit that usually I don't use one ,for I do transpose most songs that I'm going to be singing. However, I don't consider using the tools of the trade as cheating. The capo not only changes the key the song is played in but by changing the scale legnth of your guitar it also changes the timbre. Therefore the use of a capo is as much a matter of artistic expression as of technical expediency.

  • touche my friend...i had never even thought about scale length...i do have one and use one, however im in a working band with a singer who has a medical condition which can cause her to change keys from one night to the nexthowever your post has made me reconsider using one.

  • ya wat he said lol

  • I'd like to see you play bleecker street without a capo.

  • What's that on the second fret...A Capo :)

    Peace!

  • why does everyone use a capo on this song? Have people never heard of transposing? A capo takes away from musicality.

  • cos thats what oasis use... and no i haven't

  • ok.............

  • thank you so much! that was very helpful for me :)

  • more playing............less talking

    GEEEZUZ

  • hey man, thanks for the tutorial, it helped allot. o nd the cappo thing makes it sound allot better

  • whats that thing on your guitar neck?

  • it is a capo

  • oh,thank you. =)

  • thanks. that was very good lesson

  • When you do the change after the 3rd time through your playing a Cadd9, well instead of leaving your pinky on the low E string, remove it and you get a more authentic sound that Oasis uses. Other then that, pretty good.

  • I really appreciate the generousity of players that choose to take the effort to spread music like this, especially as I've just started to learn the guitar. Lucidly presented, thank you, friend.

  • all i can hear is "GADANG GADANG GADANG"

ahaha sorry had to say it

  • Thanks ! You really helped me !! =] Just to make sure.. what are the chords, are they EM, G, D, A7 ?

  • yeah basically i just remember by all those but just always have your pinkie and ring finger holding down the last two strings in the thrid fret

its a pretty simple song to play once you get the strumming pattern down

    good luck

    =]
