  • Such an aspirational wonderful compassionate woman. I hope to one day be able to emulate her!

  • YOU GAVE ME MY CHILD HOOD thank you so much!

  • It's amazingly true what she wrote at the start of the first book. One day, every child in the world will know his name...

  • Oprah and Jo seem to be birds of a feather...

  • yes.. she is my childhood

  • Two inspiring women. Feels so good to watch this! I'm glad they're happy with their careers and they know they were already sucessful. They can do whatever they want to now, and we'll be there to support them as we can. :)

  • jk rowling you where my childhood thank you so much

  • JKR I love you, but Oprah, why do you have to keep bringing MJ up?

    after all this time?

He wasn't chasing at anything, he just didn't make it a big deal.

  • Oh, if only Jo knows that she is the childhood of every teenager except the Twihards. *sighs*

  • Harry will live forever twilight will die off and be all but forgotten

  • @AccountNiGem Hey! I liked Twilight and I also liked Harry Potter!

  • 9/11? There are so many more tragedies in the world! I really don't understand why it was brought up.

  • Two female billionaires. Two women who changed the world. Two of my idols <3

  • legend

  • this is .... wise

  • Funny how at the end, Oprah goes for a high five and J.K goes for a hand shake and they end up in a kind of man-grip-shake thing.

  • Gosh... This is the most fascinating interview i've ever seen !

  • She really was a big part of so many of our childhoods.

  • ...that akward moment when Oprah tries to hi-five J.K. Rowling but J.K. shakes her hand instead. lol

  • Harry Potter IS my childhood. screw disney, i used my imagination and lived in a castle called hogwarts. Thank you so much JK Rowling!

  • -the best possible version of myself that I could be. Since the moment Harry Potter came to life, so did my dream of writing, painting, and changing the world with art. I'm working on my first original novel as we speak, and can honestly say that if it weren't for people like you (and Shakespeare), I probably would have never thought myself worthy or capable of sharing my creativity with others. I hope, if I ever make it, that my work puts as much hope and courage into others as yours has.

  • I absolutely love you JKR. My mother is just like you- such a wonderful, inspiring woman who puts love above all else. She was born July, 1965 as well. I grew up in a poor, single-mother house hold with a mother who wanted to write and wrote all the time but never really made it- she eventually found her soul mate and is now engaged. You are what my mother would be if she'd made it big- and that inspires me more than you will ever know. It was your book, JKR, that, at age 11, made me want to be-

  • If i cud choose any celebrity in the world to ever meet, it wud be jo

    luv her so much

  • Love this! The things the said about moving on really fits into my life right know!

  • I truly loved this interview! That was just amazing. Jo, you are my childhood too!

  • the awkward moment when Oprah goes for a high 5 and JK Rowling goes in for a handshake.

  • @RosieGokPosie I wasw thikningsd the sASMME THUNNGGGGG. OPRAH IS A lard Cow. how dares she. UGH.

  • 'It was like she apparated'

Jo can't let it go either =) xxxx

  • I didn't want that inerview to end! :(

  • i'm having a bit of a mind trip coz throughout that entire interview i was thinking that if i ever met her, i would say that HP was my childhood and thank her. damn that women got there before me!

  • YOU ARE MY CHILDHOOD , :P <3

  • My children will grow up reading Harry Potter, because I want their childhood to be just as magical as mine was.

  • two of the most amazing female souls on earth <3

  • long live the queen J.R.!!!

  • This just goes to show that Even though You think your personal rock bottom things always get better and R.K has an Inspiring story to show that.

  • i felt total joy as i listened to them having this very enlightening conversation.

  • The exchange between these two very successful women is incredible and inspiring. their view on failure and rock bottom, and letting the phenomonon be what it was and not getting stuck on it. It's all truely insightful and thought provoking. What an interview, when a conversation can make you think so deeply. Thats what interview should be. love J. K. Rowling!

  • I believe J. K. Rowling is the childhood of millions of kids.

  • haha this is JK Rowling and Oprah talking about creating a phenomena. askdfljs #FirstWorldProblems

  • JK Rowling has opened my imagination and shown me the beauty and escape that reading and writing can bring. I'm forever grateful!

  • J.K. Rowling is my childhood and also my inspritation to read and write. If it weren't for her i wouldn't be read books or writing them. Thank You J.K. Rowling

  • Liking the guy handshake at the end

  • Wow watching this interview i see how much she is like in personal reasons. makes me feel not alome

  • hey, Oprah -

    say phenomenon...

    or phenomenun, seriously?

  • why does she keep talking about Michael Jackson?

  • THATS SOOOOO TRUE J.K. ROWLING IS MY CHILD HOOD I READ THE FIRST HARRY POTTER WHEN I WAS 12 13 AND FINISHED THE LAST ONE AT 15 16 :) WAITING LISTS AT BOOK STORIES&LIBAREYS&LIFE WAS THE REASON IT TOOK THAT LONG FOR ME TO READ ALL 7 BOOKS ^-^ THANK YOU SO MUCH MS ROWLING FOR GIVING ME SUCH A MAGICAL WORLD TO ESCAPE TO AND I CANT WAIT CANT WAIT TO VIST THE AMUSEMENT PARK&AM 22 NOW LOL ;) ITS BECAUSE OF THESE BOOKS AND THESE MOVIES THAT I WILL ALWAYS BE CHILDLIKE AND I LOVE U AND THANK U FOR THAT!!!

  • I understand the girl who said that to Jo. If I were to meet her I wouldn't know what to say. Harry has meant the world to me for nearly 12 years and I would never be able to explain to her what that meant to me. Those are the only words that could sum it up. She and Harry really were my childhood.

  • It's so amazingly inspiring to listen to these two gorgeous, successfull women!

  • I love her

  • GREAT INTERVIEW! GREAT WOMAN! SHE DESERVES ALL THE MONEY, LOVE AND GLORY FOR HER WRITING!

  • Oprah Winfrey talks to J.K. Rowling Full Video Interview.

  • I don't think that there will never be a more special story in the world. Harry Potter will live for ever inside me. It is a part of me. It will always be. And 50 years from now, after I tell my grandchildren about this great story that I love, and they ask me "After all this time?", I will answer most proudly "Always."

  • She is my childhood, too. And I think it's amazing how they both understand, that there is no need to desperately try to top what they have reached.

  • I love how they are interviewing each other, the both have such great personalitys.

  • "phenomenun"

  • Oh please both people who sat in that room are intelligent . To me they're the most amazing woman .

  • This was a very interesting interview. I wonder what J.K. Rowling is going to write next....? It's probably going to be amazing!!

  • She IS my childhood!

  • phi nawmih nunn

  • She and Harry Potter were my Childhood too and I grew up along with harry and had similar problems which kinda sounds weird to say but yeah... Aweseome~! And it's us viewers who may decided to continue in the HP world. ^__^'' Creative people share with eachother even when it isn't direct.

  • J.K. Rowling, you are the bigest inspiration in my life. I've been depressed, suicidel, and alone, but through it all, Harry was always there. I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • @OwlWithNoTree just to let you know there's a project going on at the minute called Changed by Jo Rowling (if you Google it you'll find it) where people can submit stories about the impact Jo's had on their life... Some of the HP cast have taken part and HOPEFULLY Jo is going to look at it soon... In case you wanted to let Jo know what she's done for you =)

And I really hope you're feeling better now.

  • @JoRowlingRocks Thank you. I've just now checked it out, and it's wonderful. <3 Thank you so much :)

  • @OwlWithNoTree no problem! And I love your username, although it makes me sad!

  • True inspiration...<3

  • you guys stop bashing orpah, shes a great person and has been here longer than rowling and has more experience and intelligence.

  • @juki0h lol you did not just say Oprah is more intelligent than JK Rowling.

  • @JoRowlingRocks yes i did. oprah was more successful earliar in her life, therefore she has more experience than JK, thus making her more intelligent. i dont see how you cant see this.

  • @juki0h why does having more experience make someone more intelligent? By that logic everyone is more intelligent than anyone who's younger than them, and not as intelligent as anyone who's older than them.

  • @JoRowlingRocks you saying that jk rowling is more intelligent is just like me saying oprah is more intelligent. but anyways, if you want to be one of the richest, most successful tv show host in history, im sure you have to be intelligent to do that.

  • @juki0h when did I say Jo is more intelligent, or that Oprah isn't intelligent?

Please do provide me with some examples of Oprah having more "life intelligence" than Jo...

  • @JoRowlingRocks and older people usually are more intellgent than younger people, because they have been on earth longer, therefore they have a better understanding of the world and people. im not talking about book smart intelligent, im talking about life intelligent, and oprah has a better grasp at it than jk.

  • @juki0h Intelligence and wisdom are two very different things. Intelligence is innate, wisdom is gained.

  • Dear Oprah, THIS INTERVIEW IS NOT ABOUT YOU.

  • I didn't like reading as a child, and when I was 28 I lost my vision due to a rare auto-immune disease and I was unable to work. So I started reading and I started with John Grisham because that was my grandmothers favorite. Then one day I decided to go to the library and get the Harry Potter book 1, I am now reading the series for the 4th time and it doesn't get old! They are the best books I have read and I thank her for writing them and making them so believable and wonderful.

  • She's my childhood as well, my goddess lol!

  • shes so inspirering shes the best author ever

  • hahaha Oprah wants a high-five, JK wants to shake and it ends up turning into a weird secret handshake.

  • I just LOVE you Jo, thank u for being a part of our lives <3

  • Haha i love 4:55 when they both sit back on their chairs. I mean we (the general public) will probably never know exactly what they meant and yet to each other they were on exactly the same wave length!

    What an extraordinary pair.

  • It's amazing to think about the legacy she has created and the amazing impact that it has had. And not just emotionally, but academically too. Her books have inspired creativity and increased reading levels among children. I know I never would have increased my vocabulary as much as I did as a kid if it wasn't for those books.

  • @manders1292 "I know I never would have increased my vocabulary as much as I did as a kid if it wasn't for those books."

She was the reason I started writing. Without reading Harry Potter and being sucked in by this amazing, beautiful, magical world, sure, I would still be writing lines on paper, but with not as much love, passion and laughter as I am now.

Jo, you truly are my childhood. Thank you <3

  • JK Rowling = Our Queen

  • We say she is our childhood. But really, it's not just our childhood. Harry will stay with us all through our lives; the magic never leaves, no matter how old you are.

  • That can't be the first time she's heard that. Because my friends and I say that practically everyday.

Jo Rowling pretty much made up my whole freaking generation.

  • these two got really chummy! I've never seen Jo talking so animatedly before!

It was great seeing her sort of shedding her inhibitions...

    Oprah must be GOOD!

  • Yes you really are my childhood and I want to meet you someday

  • This interview made me realize so much about... myself. O_O

  • I'm actually more inspired by her interview then the one with Stephenie Meyer.

  • I love you Jo!!!

  • but jo... you ARE our childhood!! <3

  • J.K. Rowling - Our Queen... Harry Will Always Be With Us, Just Like The Scar On His Head <3

  • Jo, you are almost everyone's childhood here haha

  • J. K. Rowling "You are my childhood!"

  • @CrisLli37 I was about to say the same :p I've matured along with the books.

  • One Blonde to rule them all

  • Too much details on Michael Jackson, but she is got a point!

  • I love them both. genious

  • 6:37 showin' the homie love

  • J K Rowling is wonderful. I love her! LOVE HER!

  • oprah is too into herself

  • @3:29 i cant believe that fatty is talking about michael jackson again 2 years dead and 6 days before his birthday, michael jackson knew before he came forth that thiller would be the no1 selling album of the twentieth century and it was not organised by the illuminati as is alleged the oprah and j.k show, anyways it will be the number 2 best selling album of all time, and once oprah catches up with esther she will get the divine order thing and isnt oprah gorgeous. bloomsbery publishing.
