I used WDT, which involes stirring the coffee grounds in the basket with a pointy object. With WDT it is easier to get an even distribution of the coffee grounds in the basket and that helps an even extraction.
It a homeroasted espresso blend that contains Brazil, Sumatra and possibly some African or central American. I don't remember the exact proportion though.
