i do agree on 4th and 5th gen having more plot obviously.

mostly the reason i prefer 1st and 2nd gen is that they are related, involve actual rivals, and bad guys that are not mentally retarded (magma/aqua and plasma), or trying to wipe out the universe (though i do like galactic for doing that and nearly succeeding xD).

@Mrchagrilled Well if team Magma and aqua weren't stopped it would have led to an unholy apocalypse which makes up for the rubbishy goals of the group. Team plasma gave your player a motivation to stop them because you have differing views and eventually ghetsis pulls a gary oak on you and reveals that team plasma was a trick to make him a near god and probably destroy Unova and enslave its population. again much more frightening than blackmail and moneymaking

@SnivyShadow666 Hey, of couse the gen 1 and 2 spriets aren't that good, because back then the graphics weren't that advanced!! But just take the designs those sprites are based on. the gen1 pokemons look like real pokemon(sters), while nowadays th pokemons look either like some cute stuffed animals or like some way too abstract ..ehm.. things. just take a look at all those little legendary pokemons in gen 4. i think the first pokemons from gen 1 look far more impressive! especially the starters!

gen 1 had a lot of plot, the dead marowak in lavender town (and the rivals raticate), how the game corner was owned by team rocket, the notes left behind in the lab describing the creation of mewtwo. if anything gen 1 had a pretty mature plot.

when they say the pokemon look amazing they are probably not refering to the actual sprites, but the design the sprites were based on

@Mrchagrilled That's not plot, and other gens have more of that anyways. Y'know, B/W and D/P/Pt easily had more of that in a single town than the entirety of Kanto, and this is coming from someone who HATES Gen 4.

Uh.. why does everyone hate on B/W? It's not as if the Pokemon are any less original than before, honestly. I thought the story was well-driven, despite the implied connection to PETA in Team Plasma. The music is also wonderful, and the fully animated sprites are smooth. And Game Freak even did a fast one, as the 'antagonist' wasn't actually the antagonist. Overall it's one of my favorites.

I grew up with Silver - that was the game that got me into Pokemon. I'm still into it now, and probably will be for a long time.

Generations 2 and 3 were, in my opinion, the best ones. Gen 5 was, in my opinion, the worst.

@ThePokemonTutor Gen 5 is easily better than Gen 2, though. It didn't introduce half a 'dex of baby pokemon that were never needed in the first place, and it had some really good designs. The only pokemon worthy of mention, design wise, in Silver are Scissor, Crobat, Hitmontop, and Granbull. BW was filled with honorable mentions, even if it did have some crappy 'mons like Palpitoad. Don't even get started on regions, as Johto was the shortest and least interesting.

@Skeloperch To be honest. Kanto occupies the least intersting spot for me. The game had no plot. the design was as I put it "They placed a random obstacle in your way that was completely out of place for you to waste a HM on." And I don't get why the people who love gen 1 and 2 say the pokemon look amazing yet the sprites in the original games look horrendous.take ekans and dragonite. These are supposed cool pokemon but the sprites look like a three year old's scribblings

@SnivyShadow666 Meh. Kanto had an interesting regional design, and it had some really obtuse gym leaders, which are 2 important factors. That's the only reason I'd say it's better than Gen II. Besides, FR/LG fixed a lot of the graphical issues, but they still put a bunch of shit in your way just because. I'm so glad B/W fixed that.
